They're always friendly and helpful. It's a great way to get rid of the stuff you don't want that's too good to throw in the trash. And you don't even have to get out of your car. They always offer a tax receipt if you need one. Extremely convenient right next to the freeway. read more

Update for my lifestyle clients: Goodwill hired 800 employees back from the 1200 they let go during the pandemic. They still need 400 people. The attendant said that it takes five or six goodwill employees every day of the week to keep the operation going, even on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Since they're closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I asked the attendant today, how many people did he have to stop from just leaving things outside the bins which are locked up. He replied 44 as of 3:44 PM. Interesting Synchronicity! Sometimes it's hard to find, because it's the next turn after interstate five as you're headed east. Or the last right turn before Highway five if you're headed west. The attendant was very friendly and very kind. People are giving him a hard time when he doesn't make the rules. So, as always, be kind. Remember, this is a side road kind of donation site, so they don't take various items. Read their website for explicit directions. read more

This place is hit or miss on a good day, sans COVID. With new COVID-19 restrictions and everyone with more time on their hands because of lock-downs, decluttering is on the rise and so are the ridiculous lines here. Not to mention, their accessibility. Like many others, we have gone through every cabinet, closet, drawer and box and have purged a lot of stuff during the lock-downs. Not exaggerating. 50+ packed bags of clothes, toys, blankets, kitchen accessories etc; in the last 8 months. It has become nearly impossible to donate here without waiting in lines taking 30 minutes to an hour. I was shocked when they refused my daughters barbie house which was large...yes, BUT in really good shape. Last month, I waited in line for over an hour on a Friday and still had a bag of stuff they refused. So, I've resorted to making appointments with Father Joe's to do pick ups at the house. They are about a month out but it's so much more convenient than this drop off location. I've used them twice and they've received most of our donations during COVID, which is fine by me. Also, be advised hours here have changed. They are only open Thursday-Sunday, which is probably contributing to the long lines when they are open. Not to mention, unloading is all up to you so some people just aren't really efficient at doing this. If you just have a bag or two and want to rid of it quickly, check out the Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Cardiff. They keep 4 bins outside for you to just drive up and drop off. There is no receipt given though. It's a short drive from La Costa but hey, you can hit up VG donuts as it's in the same parking lot. = ) IMO, if you have a bag or two and want to rid of it quickly.....WORTH IT! read more

its complicated. Make donation drop off scum of they don't make it easy. No furniture. Know that tronix. A long line and very limited strange hours I see why the schedule a pick up services from other charities like the disabled veterans are so popular. The team working at this station always is very professional efficient and friendly, but the problems are larger than just the team on the ground. The rest area is a rack full of donation cast offs probably by frustrated donors who abandon their loads here. Caltrans in a sea of curls that are probably partly to blame Close circuit surveillance and enforcement cameras are desperately needed year. read more

There's not much to say about Goodwill off La Costa drive. There's a couple bins sitting on the side of a park n ride with some folks attending to accept donations. It's always a quick process to drop off your items and get a receipt if necessary. It does feel good to help an organization that gets people jobs as well as provides for those in need. Good will does NOT care about your items. They just throw clean clothes and good items in a bin without any regard...like it is going to the dump yard instead into some one's home. No regard to help others with your items read more

I've been here more times than I can count on my two hands. It's a quick and convenient stop on the way to the freeway (or just down the street depending on how you look at it). The staff here have rotated around quite a bit from what I can see, but they've been consistently professional, polite and quick to help unload. Ancient practices have a history or usefulness or we would never know of them. Spring cleaning has evolved from the days before trusty vacuum cleaners came along and people deep cleaned their homes in the spring for practical reasons. After a long cold winter, warmer spring temperatures were warm enough to open windows so that winds would help carry dust away. In modern times Spring cleaning has taken of a different twist. We clean the home because we buy so much crap. Every few months I load up the car with clothes that I never wear, shoes that just don't fit right, that necklace from the Farmer's market that I could not live without, and regifted Christmas Presents that I do not have the heart to gift one more time. Instead of spending the day having a garage sale take 'em to the Goodwill. This is a giant donation center that takes everything from electronics to furniture, housewares and clothes. And of course, vacuum cleaners. A super convenient system lets you drive up, open your trunk and kind people unload your car. You can get donation receipts because these donations go to people less fortunate. Goodwill set up a win win situation for everyone. read more

Consider dropping off your donation items to someone that actually cares. You have 2 bins to put your items in, clothing or household items. I donated ceramic decor, framed artwork, lamps etc. and it goes in the same bin as toys and misc. items. Unfortunately it's a self unload situation so the next person may drop something heavy on the fragile items I just donated making them worthless. Go to DAV where they help unload and sort items to keep them safe. read more

So the last time I went the guys pointed to a sign that says close at 2. I made sure to get there before 2 and now they point to a sign that says closed on Wednesday. Omg. Looked up another donation spot I found a SA on Birmingham and 5 who were open and they were friendly and appreciative! Even on days where this site is supposed to be "open", you only have a 50/50 chance of being able to donate. Variety of reasons...not enough equipment, not enough people, they are closing early, and they are full for the day are a few of the reasons I have been told. I have asked staff there if they can have a phone # or web site that would tell you that they are open and taking donations but they said that is not possible. You are better off donating somewhere else. read more

Not impressed although grateful to have it close by. The process was so impersonal. I dropped off two garbage bags filled with new clothing items. Some high end like leather. Some guy came and grabbed them from me as if they were bags of garbage then whisked himself away. Nothing human about the process....assembly line giving, From what I saw people bring used junk or generic items. I prefer to hand stuff to people myself but wanted to try Goodwill this time around. Great location for a donation center at the Carlsbad La Costa Park-and-Ride. Always quick and easy. A lot of people come here, but they take care of you fast. So you might have to wait a bit, but it's never too long. They will take everything off your hands, and they will help unload if you have a lot, or have heavy stuff. read more
