Okay so, Goodwill as a company and their corporate greed gets a negative one star from me. BUT I've always had a good experience at this Brookings location. I moved here from Bend, Oregon, and the prices are much lower (although still too high) compared to where I am from. The employees are extremely helpful and kind. I've found many treasures there that I've been searching for a while. I could on and on about how a used tee shirt should not be $10, but who will care? Certainly not Goodwill. So, I prefer to focus on the customer service and how clean/organized the store is. Friday - Sunday are insanely busy and it gets very cramped in there. Best to go other days of the week if you ever get a touch of claustrophobia or just can't stand crowds of people. read more

I shop here from time to time but I have to agree that their clothing prices are too high. The racks are so stuffed full that it's hard to see what's there. If you pull something out, good luck getting it back in. The sizes and colors are pretty well organized, but why not lower the prices and move the inventory? The shoes and purses are easy to see. Other shelves are just too full, for example, personal care products. Maybe they should look for a larger store. The staff are all friendly so that's a plus, but not enough for me to give a better rating. read more

New manager is ridiculous on the value of items that are donated. I can understand reasonable price. 15$ paid my way from never going back.

I have visited numerous Goodwill stores along the western US, and I have never seen a store as overpriced as Brookings. When discounted, the prices are higher than other stores. $35 jackets, $25 pants, ... even items whose quality have been compromised. They also write on their clothing, including the store tags of "new" items, preventing someone from gifting an item. read more

2 years after posting my 5 star review, I'm back in Brookings and I'm sorry to report that the local Goodwill has gone substantially downhill. The employees are still very friendly, but the organization of the rest of the store, specifically clothes and shoes, is horrible. Everything is so mismatched re sizes (they seem to get the "color" thing down - not sure why color matters over sizes??). Unless you have hours and hours of time to sort through stacks of clothes and shoes of ALL sizes, in ONE place, stay clear. All I wanted to buy was an XXL women's T-shirt, but had to give up and went to the Humane Society shop instead (where I EASILY found about 10 items for my size 18 frame i.e. not "small" or "medium"). I also agree that the prices for CLOTHES (specifically), are ridiculous, compared to other thrift shops. As someone else said, why not MOVE more inventory (and make more $)? read more

The prices on clothing are unaffordable. They are no longer a bargain and unaffordable to many who shop here.

Good selection and great price. Clothes are well organized. Great selection in jewelry. Lots and lots of books to choose from.

Goodwill Industries Prices are way too high!!! Goodwill Industries is a privately owned company!! The only good they do for the local community, are the few local employees they have, the rest of the profit go to corporate headquarters!! Everything here is waaaaaayyy overpriced. Can buy some things new for less than they have them marked. Workers not friendly or helpful. Wanted to look at something I spotted in the back of the store (where the doors are open and you can see in) and they would not let me or anyone look at it until it goes on the selling floor. How do they expect to sell things when they will not go the tiniest bit out of their way to assist customers. And if they would lower their prices, they would sell a lot more. The stuff is DONATED for Pete's sake--sell it! But alas, they are not the Nonprofit organization that trains people so they can get a job. Store looks junky and dirty and don't go in there any more. Go to the other thrift store in town--they really ARE a non-profit and are kind, cheerful, and very helpful. read more

I tried doing a return on an item I bought and they refused to do it even though they said they would within 48 hours if it didn't work. I'm completely unsatisfied with this location. read more

Very unhappy that they lock up their bathroom at 6pm when the store closes at 7pm.Their reason was to sanitize but nothing was happening. When you have an emergency you need that facility asap and not have to go to another store. I will think twice about shopping there. read more

I'm Boycotting All GoodWill stores Inc.!!! There prices are way to high!!! Case in point. Bought several items at a local thrift shop for $1.50 to $3.00. GoodWill wanted $6.99 for the same items!! This particular GW is the cleanest one I've seen. Their prices are still high on certain items, but some things were priced reasonably. They make a point to straighten racks regularly. Some racks were overstuffed making it hard to sift through though. If GW would lower their prices by half in some cases, their racks wouldn't be so overstuffed. read more

Do not waste your time they refuse to let you try things on then refuse to accept returns even after only a few minutes after purchase. Good will more like greedy will. read more

My mother and I had a lot of furniture to donate. Barstools dressers and a few tables. When we got here the tall white man working the drop off area took a look at one table and said because of one table being a little scratched they wouldn't take any of the furniture. The barstools were like new along with the dressers. And the table was easy to just refurbish. He really just didn't want to do his job. We took it to South Coast Humane Society and they took it with right a away with big smiles. I honestly believe goodwill isn't as nonprofit as they make themselves to be. read more

I just had the worst experience. Walked in to look at a chair and the employee. A young man with dark curly hair would not for one moment stop asking us to move so he could hang up stiff. I asked him to go around us and his response was to say I am working. I told him usually employees accommodate the customer. He went to another worker across a couple of aisles and they both proceeded to stare at us and the 2nd one went to the front and wrote it all down I will never go in this store again read more

Very nice thrift store with friendly staff and lots o' goodies. Like most thrift stores, prices are all over the map, from great deals to "what are they thinking...I can buy it new for that price". It's nice having another thrift store in town for bargain hunters. read more

This is a great thrift stores with so many things and good deals. Lots of clothes, kids stuff, household items. Very organized and CLEAN. I haven't been here for about 6 months, and it was much improved since the last time I visited. Must be new management. Employees were vey helpful and courteous. I will be back here. read more

It was 6:15- 45 minutes before they close and would not let my 7 year old daughter use the bathroom. They said sorry they cleaned it for the night. I understand but my daughter had to go pretty bad and they did not seem to have any sympathy whatsoever. The ladies who work here seem pretty rude. Sorry for the bad comment but have a little compassion for a child who needs the bathroom. By the way we spent $20 on stuff so we were paying customers. Much prefer supporting local thrift stores than a "Industry" Goodwill does not clean or sanitize their clothes donations. They just spray some stuff on it to make it smell better. Manager and staff are rude and careless. The cashier name Shellie was so drunk she vomited on the merchandise and didn't even apologize. I could smell the vodka on her breath. read more

Have to say idk why all reviews are pretty negative as soon as you walk in staff say greetings (with a smile) very helpful...place is very clean for so much traffic gets bizzy around noon...5 changing rooms and a big one for wheel chair access for women not sure how many for the man...there's a door bell right next to fitting rooms never had to wait long for help only 6 items at a time make sure if you step out to show what ur wearing don't let the door close cuz they automatically lock...there very nice about telling u to add ur nos to a return bar next to changing room and they clear the bar quickly nice prices too (((bring in an item get 20% off on a single item)) read more

This goodwill is run by Brian and Audry, two people that have proven that they do not have Goodwill at their Jeart. Example they were donated a very expensive set of speakers, they put them out to get ruined, They got a jazzy wheel chair, they were informed that the out door gear was broken, they sold it anyway for $500. and the person found out after the two day period, Two stranded tourist tried to by blankets and were $6. Short, the next in line tried to buy the blankets for them and the clerk said he was advised he could not sell it to them because it would get around and all the bums would come. I bought a multi fold ladder and said I was on foot and would return it get it when I had my car. they said NO they had no room to put it while I ran home to get my car. I questioned that logic with my phone recorder capturing the dialog and they 86th me and ordered me out.The donations to this Goodwill gets reviewed if it is a good donation an they think they can get a better price in another city store it is shipped out, the item does not Help Brookings people the poor and or needy. I have been going to this store since it opened, the Mean spirit of Audry has made me walk on eggshells but today I thought a request as benign as mine would be allowed. she was waiting to pounce. This Goodwill plays GOTCHAS with its customers never trying to have customer first, instead it is buyer beware. I talked to many in Brookings from the transit bus driver to the security patrol they all have stories of dissatisfaction. I called the main headquarters Heather or Glenn, and of this time they have not returned my calls. Goodwill is a great addition to our local thrift stores. My wife and I enjoy going into goodwill especially because of the great organization, and neatness. It also smells nice unlike many thrift stores here in town....like the mission. read more

Was a little pricey but most goodwills are. Very organized with good stuff! They had a good selection of CDs.

Came to Brookings on vacation and always have to check out the thrift stops for unique items. This was the cleanest goodwill I have ever seen and staff was very friendly! read more

Nice store, clean and well organized. Staff is friendly. Prices are high, many are new item prices. Those items with Sale tags are much more realistic. There is another competing thrift store in Brookings with better prices. read more
