My family, friends and I have had a couple of occasions to use Chetco Trader pawnshop in Brookings Oregon. Whether purchase or pawn. I have to say, (and they are under new ownership) that the quality of service that we have gotten is beyond my expectations they even unlocked the door and reopened one time to make a payment. They've been professional, gracious, kind and understanding with both male and female friends. The newly remodeled interior makes it easy to browse and shop. Its clean and always someone to ask if you need any help and to answer any questions. They are fair on pricing whether you're buying or pawning. They started taking credit cards over the phone recently and the quality of their customer service has been exemplary and I highly recommend them. I will do business with them again if I am in need for that kind of service. Please don't take it out on the new owners any past bad experiences. Sam is a real genuine trailer park trash piece of garbage. I pawned a bluetooth speaker back in September while in Brookings on vacation from south Florida. After the transaction was completed, I was wondering why they refused to shake my hand. I was misidentified as a sexual offender after a botched background check on me while trying to make an honest livelihood at Fat Irish as a cook, owned by Jay and Mary Trost, the biggest criminals in Curry County. My fingerprints were submitted and more than likely given to Brookings PD, Curry County Sheriff or the Oregon State Police. I have absolutely no affiliation with this guy and have no sexual related charges on my record. I nearly got killed over this mishap..this is currently an ongoing civil lawsuit. read more

I went in there to ask for some help with jewelry identification. Sam was more than willing to help me identify my items, without asking for anything in return. I offered him some cash, and he said no, "He just wanted to help me out." Very cool Sam. Thank you. You did help me out! I don't know what the deal is with other reviews on here (apparently Gia J. has a bias against bikers or something?); but I will CERTAINLY be doing business with Chetco Trader often in the future. This pawn shop is by far the worst one I've been to on the west coast. I got $10 dollars on a silver bracelet wich is less than the price of silver. Then he said no to buying a gold money clip with a diamond in it that was brand new never taken out of the box with all it's paperwork and the price tag still on it. They were selling a Ibanez bass that retails for $50 for $300. I don't understand how it's legal to do this or more importantly what kind of people do you have to be to open a business just to rip people off in there desperate time of need. I'm scared of what I would do to the fat guy that if I ever saw him again. read more

I went in to buy a sander. I was asked what i was doing and i told them. I was doing a project with some kids to raise money for a school function. Not only did they give me an amazing deal, but before the transaction was thru they donated the sander, scrap paint,and wood trimmings. They wanted to be apart of the cause and a community help. I have been dealing with Chetko Traders for the last for five years. I have bought innumerable bits of miscellaneous and unique goods from them. Sam is always been squared away honest and dealt with me and very honorable manner. He is in a tough business and the nature of it means he can't make everybody happy all the time. "GIA" you dont know what YOURE talking about! Brookings doesnt even have a strip club you twit! These guys give fair value considering they are running a pawn shop and people need to realize you get about half the real value of your item. Sam is very friendly, and I have nothing to put good to say about him. Gia's, "looking at the lady's up and down" comment is a bunch of crap. Seriously some of the nicest people ever. Bought a tv from them a week ago, got it home and it didn't work. Brought it back a couple days later and they helped me try and fix it but it was a goner. They replaced the tv with another at no cost to me. I am super impressed with this shop and will be going back again. read more

I ordered my Sig Sauer P365 from the east coast and had it drop shipped to (FFL) Chetco Trader. They called me when the gun arrived and made the paperwork and pick-up super easy. If you're going to order a gun have it drop shipped to Chetco Trader. Can't go wrong with customer service they provide. read more
