Full disclosure: I'm truly biased because thrifting is my jam! I love thrift shopping and Goodwill locations never disappoint. I stopped at this one on Valentine's Day for the first time on my way up north! Goodwill Commerce (Walled Lake) store is fully stocked with treasures. My favorite sections are the books because I can always find a great hardcover book to add to my collection. The pricing of hardcover books are in many cases 90% off the retail value of the books. The Goodwill staff are always happy to serve with a smile. My only regret is I was short on time and didn't get to do my usual circuit around their store. I'll be back! read more

Overall this is my favorite local thrift store. Depending on the day I'd say it's between a 3-3.5 star . They often have a good selection. I like how clothing is organized by category size and then color (versus many thrift stores that do all same color regardless of size). It's easier to find stuff this way. Most of the staff is friendly. And on regular days store is well run. When they do flash sales and advertised sales, they run out of carts and lines to check out are long. Big downside to the 50% off days. The biggest gripe is prices are sometimes high. I've found decent deals here too but some items will be marked higher than they should be in my opinion, especially in the home goods area. But also if clothing is NWT, even if from target or Walmart or tjmaxx, price may be marked up close to retail. That said, it's pricing is better than the Salvation Army nearby and usually better than valueworld. Worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Place is too small. A good selection of men's wear, women's wear, and kids clothing. A decent selection of dishware. Very few toys and board games. Few shoes and barely any bags and accessories or jewelry. Overall not too bad, but personally I well not be coming back because the selection is too Limited for me compared to the other thrift stores I've been to so far. If you are looking for a quick and short thrifting session this would be the place. read more

Got several good finds for spring and summer. Great service and if it doesn't fit, you can return the clothes with in 5 days and the price was reasonable around 10 dollars for the jacket and dress. read more

Service - This is my second visit to this store. The manager Julie is outstanding. It is nice to see there are people who enjoy there employment, the way she interacts with her customers and her team you can tell she cares and loves what she does. Found two bags that were clearly priced at 14.99 each. Went to the register and the manager rang one of the bags up as 19.99. I showed her the tag saying it is 14.99 and she stated "no it's a nine".... Clearly she was having a power trip? No clue? (Pictures included of two tags). I didn't stand up for myself and should've but I was having a good day lol. Over priced items all around. People donate all these things and they want to charge insane prices, it's a scam at this point. Fitting rooms are also closed due to Covid-19. read more

You're better off buying new for what they charge for a donated item. Seen plenty of things here with original price tags on and they'll charge above what it was new. read more

As a former Goodrich area employee it is likely the donation attendants wouldn't help because we had a rule not to for a while due to COVID. It was fairly confusing. We had to push the bins out to a customer and let them load it. I could help if I was asked, I often had to ask. I hated it because most people aren't organized and the Goodwill in Goodrich had little space. The more I could Tetris that stuff the easier it was to save space. The managers don't make the rules they just have to enforce them. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!! HORRIBLE!!!!!! Overpriced they wanted 100$ for shoes that were beat up! I wanted them for my son and I could not do it. That place was too expensive. The workers were amazing but pricing ISENT it. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews- this place is great!!! They have such a wide selection and great prices. Jeans are only $6.50!!! I even went here twice in one night- once by myself and then I came back with my mom later that night lol. The only problem I had is that the second time I went we came about 40 mins before close just to get a couple things and we were out of the store about 7 minutes before they closed. While in line, my mom and I were raving about the store and how we were gonna tell all our friends about it when one of the women working there said "just make sure to tell them not to come in right before they close". Now, this is terrible customer service and the reason why I am not giving all five stars. However, we will continue to shop here because we won't let one bad apple ruin it for us! read more

I often peruse thrift shops in search of good deals and shirts that my son can stain. Whilst in the area I came across a NEW Goodwill shop in Commerce. I have to say, this Goodwill makes you feel like you are shopping at the clearance rack of Nordstroms. First off, the brands are good, it doesn't have the funky smell that other thrift shops have - I mean it is super nice. Like an outlet mall. Also, the prices are very easy to figure out. Infant stuff? $.99. Shorts for men? $3.99. It is nice to know that the whole rack is the same price. The only thing I wish is that instead of organizing by color, they organized by size. I would buy 20x as much if I didn't have to dig for hours. The staff is nice and the store is awesome. A+ Goodwill! read more

Although a very clean store, prices tend to be on the high side for a thrift store. Selection is very bland and doesn't rotate in my opinion due to high price point. I haven't come in once and seen more than 2 pairs of men's non-dress shoes. In the active wear, consistently find women's and children's clothing sprinkled in. Athletic equipment is outrageously priced. Store is always dead and near empty when I come, just not a very good vibe here. I come to it because it is close to home, but if it wasn't I would not bother my time. Edit: July 2016 store has now raised their pricing on adult shoes 25+% read more

We recently moved my parents out of their home and had many items to donate. We took the time to wrap each fragile item, clean things that were being donated and only took items of high quality to donate. I called a few donation centers ahead of time to see which one I would be taking the items to as I had a few large furniture pieces and of course was sentimental about parting with family items. I selected this location as the woman on the phone had said they had plenty of room for all of the items I mentioned. We arrived to drop off the items and started to help. It was clear that the woman running the center was irritated that we had a lot of stuff but we were there to help and she had a few employees helping too. I handed a box of fragile glass items to the woman and she turned and literally dropped them into the very large receiving boxes and of course breaking glass could be heard. She mumbled something about "having to make room for things". I buried my head into my husbands chest and cried. This was my mom and dad's stuff. It is already hard to part with family items and I had called ahead, etc. I keep thinking about it and it makes me so sad. When you donate items you really just want to feel that the right person will come along and be blessed by them in the store. I just have to say that this might not be the best place to donate special items that you are parting with. The employees were kind but the woman in charge of the store was very unkind and obviously not grateful to receive items for Goodwill. read more

I love this store and usually stop by every other week to check out the goods. The staff are always very nice and the store is clean. Because of it's location you can find some really nice items. The fitting rooms are also a plus. I am partial to this store for a few different reasons. All items are the same price. All t-shirts are $1.99, jeans $5.99, sweaters $4.99 and so on. Each week there is a 50% a certain color tag. They also have a rewards points program too. Like many thrift shops, selection can be hit or miss. Last week I was able to get 3 pairs of jeans and a modest mouse t-shirt for just over $14 (two pairs were 50% off tag items). Score!!!! The week before that I was able to get some nice sweaters for a similar price and I've already received a compliment on one of them. Loved bragging that it was $2.50 at the thrift shop...50% tag item! Score! Will next week be a hat trick for me? Probably. I am at the age where I don't need or want anymore stuff in my house so I generally don't shop the housewares or furniture. When I do look, the prices seem fair. Every once in a while I find a few CDs for $1.99. I feel good about shopping here because I can get some great deals, help a good cause, and when I get tired of the clothes in a year or two I will just donate them back. Many times I can buy several outfits for the price of one brand name item at the mall. I love spending my $20 of weekly blow money here. read more

I trolled in on a lazy Sunday not expecting to find anything and came out with a bag. I found three cute summer dresses. One made of linen and silk for $5-/+. A Kenneth Cole shrug sweater for 99¢ In superb condition too. A cute frilly silk blouse and a knit blouse for a friend. Total price: $17.96 that was after my 50% off coupon of course. The location was kind of hard to spot as it sits on a hill and the sign isn't very prominent. I opened up the store that day and by the time I left the parking lot was full. Always a good sign to return for additional bounty. This location was very organized and my all time favorite GoodWill because the racks were NOT packed. I won't be going back to the Goodwill Commerce Store. The manager did not honor the price tag on an item because this particular item was one that they had posted on the "Offer Up" app with a higher price. That shows me a real lack of integrity (and maybe even a violation of the law). Instead of the manager doing the right thing, it appears that greed got in the way. There are plenty of other thrift stores to shop at and that is where I'll be doing my shopping. read more

Came here for ugly Christmas sweaters. Left empty handed. This is the cleanest, most well-organized Goodwill I have ever been to. I literally couldn't find anything to be "funny" for our sweaters. You can get nice, gently used stuff. There is no smell to the store, and you don't have that itchy feeling leaving. Have always had good experience donating items at Goodwill over years. The staff has always been helpful, courteous and friendly no matter which store we happened to choose. Unfortunately, our visit to the Commerce facility was quite opposite. The young fella at the drive-up was rude, surly, and unhelpful. He left me, a 72 year old woman, to unload the trunk totally by myself while he moved one of the bins into the store (as there were two other empty bins, this seemed like a task he could have waited to do). Just left me there and conveniently came back out when I was finished. Many of these boxes (7 boxes plus 5 large trash bags) were quite heavy but that didn't seem to be of concern to him...even when I asked if he could help me. When I asked him for a tax receipt, there was no "thank you for your donation". And there were no other card waiting to unload behind us. I doubt we will donate to this facility in future. read more

This "Thrift" Store prices the merchandise as if they were located in Manhattan and the few times I have visited there, have found the floor workers not very friendly or helpful at all. The older blonde lady that works there is the worst offender. Don't even bother asking her anything as she is snarky and appears to rather be someplace else. The store is neat but again, prices are too high. Save yourself some money and visit the other area thrift stores. For example, hardcover books they price at $1.99 each, Salvation Army charges .20 each. -That is how outta touch they price things and you won't get an "attitude" visiting the other stores. read more

I came in to shop on a Sunday, I didn't realize it was close to closing time. As soon as I walked in the store, an employee(older guy) started rudely yelling at me that I have a few minutes. I told him that's all I need. Not a few seconds later he started yelling at me again and telling me the line is going to be cut and I can't shop anymore. This guy started shouting at me it's closing time you need to get out of here! Then he came back and did it again. Who does this guy think he is? He's very rude and disrespectful and has no customer service skills whatsoever. I dropped everything in my hands that I was going to buy and walked out in disgust. For the record, Ive donated a lot of my stuff to this place plenty of times. Recently, I made a large donation and pulled on the side of the store, the same older guy was rudely pushing me to hurry up, despite the fact the we had 20 minutes to donate our stuff. This store needs to teach their staff on being polite and courteous when people are purchasing or making donations. I will not being coming to this store anymore. I can spend my money at the Salvation Army. They're a lot nicer and they appreciate my business. read more

Let me start by saying that I am a thrift store junkie. I have a rotation of about 20 different stores in Oakland County that I visit regularly. I do know my prices and I know the range of prices that I find at different stores. This Goodwill store is by FAR the most ridiculous street I've ever been to. The store is clean and fairly neat but first of all it is very hard to push a cart around because the aisles are so narrow. My main problem is the prices. They are so absurd! Honestly, I found about 20 items that I wanted to buy and none of them were even close to fairly priced. I collect board games and I found 2 that I wanted. One was $12.00 and the other was $20.00! I had just come from the Salvation Army Store where I bought 4 games for $3 99 each. Also, the VHS tapes were $1 99 each, which is a travesty. At SA, vhs are 25 cents! Lots of other things were way overpriced. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Trust me, there are lots of other thrift stores out there with a fraction of the prices. read more

I have been in this store a few times and overall i like it. However....i was in yesterday and picked out a few shirts that i really liked, but the way most of the tags are stuck into the material leaves a hole in the shirt:/. They put the needle through the seam on the inside but i don't think they realize that when the tag comes out on the outside its not in the seam, therefor leaving a hole because the needles are big. Anyway, the tank top was 3.99 ( good deal for a shirt w/out a hole) so i asked the cashier ( David) if he could give some sort of discount because only one out of the 3 shirts i picked out did not have a hole. He said "i could give you 10%, or 5% or...." He mumbled something else but i couldn't hear him. David i don't think really enjoys his job because he wasn't very friendly. I don't like to look at my receipts as soon as i get it because if someone says they will give a discount, i take their word for it. When i got back out in my car i looked my receipt over and DAVID NEVER gave me a discount:/. David....you suck!! read more

Would not recommend! I have been here more than twice to donate and the donate section was "closed". I asked why it was closed and they said "short staffed, people calling in sick." which means there is no one in the back to take in new things and put them out. I feel like when I look through the clothing, the kids section is very bare and I always see the same things. Almost their entire wall of "new products" that are priced over $1, are sold at Dollar Tree, for $1. I have also noticed A LOT of items that are "used" have a asking price of the product being brand new and sometimes even more!!! Insane!!! They had a used radio flyer wagon for $100. They cost that brand new! Also, a little tikes truck that was marked $80, when they are $85 brand new! I have noticed things with stains and holes/tears and was told they are not supposed to be put on the floor like that.... Also, they commonly mistake lightweight/ heavy weight jacket prices, always trying to get top dollar for lightweight jackets while ringing them up or considering them to be heavy weight jackets. On another occasion, a woman at the register tried to charge me .99 for the top and .99 for the bottom of an infant/toddler 2 piece pajama. I have always gotten a 2 piece outfit/ pajama infant/ toddler for only .99. I asked her if I could speak with the manager, and she claimed she was the manager. There is rarely anyone ever in this store (maybe 1 or 2 people besides me). I come here pretty often to donate since I always need to go to Meijer, but if that wasn't the case, I would probably never stop back in. read more
