Rolando is the man! We've been frequent flyers for donation drop offs at this location recently and Rolando is always helpful with a smile. Even when things gets super busy. I don't understand the low reviews for this location, I think their selection is extensive. I've purchased women's wear previously and was happy with the variety, condition and selection. read more

A disappointing experience that could easily be corrected. I bought a Blu-ray DVD player at the Cortez St. store in Bradenton. It wouldn't function without a remote control, but didn't come with one. So I bought one on Amazon, which took a day. But, the player couldn't handle Blu-ray, although the device clearly stated it could. Zachariah is the shift manager who handled the return at the Cortez Rd store. I wanted to trade it in for one that could play Blu-ray DVDs. Goodwill wouldn't take it back without a receipt. I asked the clerk who sold it to me if she remembered me. (I certainly remembered her because she had an attitude). No, she did not. What about the bar code I was told correlated to the sales info. Obviously not true as the only thing that mattered was the receipt. Upon returning later with the receipt, Zachariah quoted company policy that it could not be returned three days after purchase, only within 24 hours. The player was sold without a remote control, which I needed to order from Amazon. It arrived after the 24-hour return window, and only then did I learn that the player didn't work for Blu-ray, even though the Blu-ray logo was all over the device. I ended up handing the player to Zachariah as a donation, so they could sell the non-functioning device to someone else, and then I bought a replacement. What I learned from this experience could be helpful for others: - Goodwill doesn't check if electronics function before reselling them. Otherwise, they would have known that this DVD player did not do what the box said it did. - The bar code does not link back to the sale as they say it does, or they don't use it for that purpose. The receipt is the only thing that matters. - If you'll need more than 24 hours to verify functionality, don't buy it. The buyer is solely responsible 24 hours after Goodwill sells you a device that they know, or should know, doesn't function. How much does the Cortez Rd Goodwill make in profit per year? $2 Million? $5 Million? I respectfully suggest that it's a large enough amount that Goodwill could choose not to sell devices that it knows do not work in a way that the items cannot be returned, leaving the customer stuck with a broken device. The Blu-Ray DVD player that I bought was only about $13. Couldn't/Shouldn't Goodwill be willing to sacrifice a tiny bit of its significant profit to support its sale of nonfunctioning merchandise? read more

I won't recommend this to anyone at all! I was there yesterday between 3-430pm, the old fat lady at the cashier with a short hair, don't remember her name, she yelled at me to go to the cash only register. I proceeded to that cashier, she knew that I was there waiting to check out but she don't pay attention either I was waiting there and she started counting those register money and very slow, she don't even say anything, and the fat lady with the short hair just staring at me, they just let me wait there. Why? Is that because I am nor American? I always donate my stuffs in this location and I know they don't know that but this kind of horrible customer has to be fixed by the management! read more

They marked up their prices by over 50%. Way too expensive for a thrift store. I was hoping to come here to buy some cheap clothes on a budget but I might as well buy new clothes off of shein. Come'on goodwill. I thought this store was to provide for those who are less fortunate. Not take free clothes from people and price them for way more than they are worth. read more
