I have received effective pain management and immune system reinforcement care in a beautiful, peaceful, centralized location on the Arcata Plaza, in downtown Arcata. At Yin Rituals, care can be provided individually or in a community acupuncture setting, which is more traditional care for folks to benefit in the healing environment of others undergoing treatment. Community acupuncture is also a way to bring down the price of acupuncture for more access to care. Alyssa will walk folks through the process for first-timers. Rest assured, confidentiality is still adhered to for community acupuncture and modesty is respected (no undressing necessary--just sleeves and pants rolled-up or arrive in tank-tops and shorts for ease of access). Practitioner Alyssa, LAc, MS, is not only an acupuncturist, but also a Chinese Medicine herbalist with a line of Roots & Bone products that can complement acupuncture care. Here's an article about Roots and Bones, the herbal company: https://www.humboldtmade.com/roots-and-bones. I have tried many local acupuncturists, over the years, but have received the most successful care in Alyssa's gentle, experienced hands and peaceful demeanor. It's time to schedule another wellness appointment on the on-line/app option now available for this regular.

I was resistant as I have already taken so much out of my diet, but Aria assured me it would help. Honestly as someone who is a little fat I felt that she pressured me into it. It wasn't fun, but I did try it. Right away I felt terrible, so I emailed her. She told me this was normal and it would get better. The acupuncture was helping it but when I didn't see her my digestion went back to bad. After this I stopped seeing her as she went on leave. Unfortunately I followed this advice for years, thinking it would "fix me." I have since then learned this was terrible advice, as I have IBS. When I tired to each Paleo, I removed all of the grains from my diet and then added a lot of inflammatory vegetables. This was NOT the correct diet for me. I am now on the Low FOD-MAP diet and am better than I have been in years! Let me be clear acupuncturist ARE NOT DIETITIANS. DO not follow her diet advice. I did email Aria in the past year and ask why she would give me this advice. She did not take responsibility for giving me the wrong advice. I found her response very disappointing. She did not seem to understand how much this advice hurt me. If you have IBS or any digestion issues please see a registered dietitian and your doctor. It took me years of pain to get here.

His office is centrally located and is a simple, clean, one-person office with a semi-private waiting room. In regards to care, my pains have been ongoing in the sense that X-rays have shown unremarkable findings and previous care givers have simply referred to me as a "pain management & build your core... you're getting older" case. I very much appreciate Dr. Bellinger's care and approach. It has been years since I had a manual adjustment and it seems that it was long overdue. Immediately after my first appointment I felt relief and improved mobility (though I know it's an ongoing journey. :) ). But, Dr. Bellinger also took time to listen, respond, and educate me. That was the key. For the first time I had someone provide me with helpful and repeatable things that I could do at home to improve and it has 100% began to help. I have followed up now weekly on our plan and have nothing but praises.

One time they overcharged me by about $70 and then refused to refund me saying I had to use it as a credit. What the heck? It's their fault and that's my money. The next time they rescheduled me to an earlier time without checking with me. They just sent me an email to my work email but I was on vacation so I never saw it. So they rescheduled me without my consent and then when I was late to the appointment, I got shorted on my massage by about half an hour. Office staff was rude and did not care that they had inconvenience me and charged me money for something I did not receive again. Update. After I called the office on my way to my massage appointment, they offered to reschedule after I told him I did not see their message and was now stuck in road construction. So that was a bonus. Also, I received a call from the office manager the day after I wrote this review. Office mgr told me that they had in fact credited my credit card the $70 they owed me. The thing is no one told me that and I was simply told I had used up all my credit. The office manager wanted to talk to me so I explained to her the problem. I also told her I was super busy and in the middle of loading up the truck for a dump run. It took three tries to get her off the phone after I told her I couldn't talk right now and then she wanted to call me back to talk about it more. I'm not quite sure why. All I want is good communication about appointments and billing. I sort of felt like I was being interrogated about my complaint and it was pretty uncomfortable.
