I'm writing this review from a very satisfied customer perspective - who recently spend a few thousand dollars with Goodberlet. I've used them twice. The first time was in 2021 when we got our ducts cleaned. They were very thorough - ensuring all input and output ducts were clean and explaining the process. The second time was just the other day (Nov 2024). I wanted the ducts clean and set an appointment for 2 weeks out - BUT - then the furnace stopped working to I called for advice. They sent a technician out as soon as feasible (the next day) who did a thorough investigation and said that our furnace was 23 years old, and 8 years past it's expected "lifetime". I'd noticed that it wasn't heating our bedroom well anymore. He gave us the option to repair it, yet also said we could get a new furnace for about 3 times to cost it would take to repair and be more energy efficient. We sat down and discussed pros and cons with no pressure. We ended up buying the new furnace - as they installed - they explained how to work it and what the differences would be. While they were coming, we looked into a more energy-efficient air conditioner as well - as ours was 28 years old and figured "while they are here". They took the time to explain the differences between 1996 technology and 2024 technology. By having them install both a new furnace, and new A/C, as well as clean the ducts - they were here for 10 hours - and wouldn't leave until they were sure everything was right - even though it was 7:45 at night when they finished and pitch dark out! Afterwards, I needed a combined receipt, and I talked to Christine and she quickly got me what I needed. read more

Recently, I had service completed to insulate my HVAC ductwork. While the quality of the installation itself was acceptable, I was very disappointed with the handling of the material costs that I prepaid for. The amount of materials required for the job appears to have been significantly overstated. Unless I had specifically questioned the excess, it seems the unused materials would have been removed and potentially used elsewhere despite being charged to my account. What was even more concerning was the lack of communication afterward. When I attempted to address these concerns, the manager did not make himself available to discuss the matter or answer my questions. This experience left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with the company's materials ordering and customer service practices. Customers should be aware. read more

Told my tenants (who called without my knowledge) that furnace needed to be replaced when it wasn't working properly. . The furnace is less than 8 years old, I called my regular hvac guy...all that was needed was a new furnace filter and a cleaning. Saved me a few thousand not listening to these people. Our air conditioner was leaking Sunday evening. We called Goodberlet's answering service immediately knowing the upcoming days were going to be hot ones and being without air would be horrible. We had a phone call from the supervisor, Jason, within half an hour, setting up a time the next day to come out to fix it. He was very respectful, polite and helpful in explaining what he was doing as well as giving me tips on how I can help keep our unit running smoothly. I truly appreciated the great service as well as his integrity in keeping our charges to only what we needed. read more

I have used Goodberlet Services for a number of years and have never had an issue that wasn't resolved. Are they the lowest cost provider; probable not but you get what you pay for. My experiences have all been positive. There techs are the best; always explaining, never condescending and most of all they are confident in their work. We had used Eck for some years until they went off the rails, but I came back to them. The experience when Brian Pasche was their sales manager was wonderful! They did our Unico A/C and new boiler. Then, Goodberlet bought them. I had them out for a boiler issue with the pressure relief valve leaking and they replaced that in Fall of 2019. Then in Spring 2020 it leaked again and I had them out. It was determined that I needed another new valve and pressure tank. The ESTIMATE was $610 for parts and another $610 when they installed them. Previously Eck had done that and it was nowhere near that level. I had given them the parts deposit, but then began checking and the parts were, with the same tank, a bit over $200, so how did we get to $610? I called and got my money back, all of it. Goodberlet tried to tell me everyone works that way these days, one price for the repair, not time and materials! So I asked some friends and got a referral and that company came out the next week, replaced the valve, replaced the expansion tank with a better quality tank as well, did the fall service on the boiler and it came to $519 in total!!!! You can judge as you will, but from where I stand, Goodberlet must have thought I was driving the turnip truck. I had no notion of being on that kind of ride and saved myself over $610 bucks. UPDATE: their phony customer service had them come out and "fix" their screw ups, only to fail due to horrible work and use of materials and now cut off communication with me and claim this is about me not wanting to pay agreed upon price! I just wanted to get what I was paying for... Unbelievable! On 7/17/2020 I met with the project manager where we discussed where they would be trenching and running a gas and electric line for my pool due to a deck being installed. On Friday 9/11/2020 I spoke with the electrician about the placement of these lines, once again discussing where the deck was going and then again on the morning of the scheduled work day Monday 9/14/2020 had the third discussion about it. They ignored all that and ran it all under where the deck was going because it was a straight shot... no problem there, accidents happen but when contacted they blamed me for not telling them about pylons?! Still no big deal. Had three separate major gas leaks in my basement from non traditional gas fittings they used (very big deal), thankfully we were home otherwise our house would have exploded! We had to have nicor out here on three separate occasions to lock off my gas while Goodberlets people "tried fixing" the problem fittings... when confronted about that, no apologies just blamed "Chinese" fitting that are sometimes faulty! The same crew came to correct the problems all while giving me attitude only to make it worse, rerouted the lines and after being told not to backfill because inspection was needed, they decided to backfill so I dug out the backfill to find they only buried the gas line 5.5"-8" deep (18-24") with a spliced and coupled line!! Hence the backfilling! When I reached out to the project manager via text, he blamed me for the entire situation, said I should have seen it and stopped them! Now the fourth time they come out to "fix" the situation, that "Chinese" fitting they told me sometimes comes faulty and leaks, is now on the outside of my house and the gas line is still spliced and coupled! I'm clearly and rightfully so not comfortable with these people coming out to "fix" anything else. After speaking to the gm/owner because he saw a social media post of mine, he acted concerned for a short time then he stopped all communication after threatening to put a lien on my home... This is what $3250 gets you? read more

I have had a horrible experience with Goodberlet heating and cooling. They are liars, manipulators, and deceivers and they never stand by what they said they are going to do. I spoke with Rick as well as a C Parish and all they continue to do is lie. Now they make it my responsibility to cover the trenches in my yard even though I had a scheduled appointment for someone to come out and do it because that is what the company told me that they would do and I have been waiting MONTHS! Now Rick has no idea who I spoke with he says that lady doesn't even work for the company and he does not want to send anyone to put the dirt back in the trench holes that they dug. On April 12, 2021 I called to have my furnace looked at and transformer replaced after having power issues in my home. The service tech insisted that I had a motherboard go bad (because the motherboard was not getting power) and that I should just replace the whole furnace. He left after 3 hours and said I would need to call him the next day to continue investigating for another service fee. He also stated that he didn't have any parts on his truck (He was informed that the transformer did not appear to be functioning when i called to schedule the appointment). A day later I bought a transformer from a different company and the furnace turned on as expected. Upon operating the furnace I found that the tech moved wires mounted to the thermostat causing the heat to turn on for every mode of operation (heating, cooling, fan). I suspect they wanted me to call them back out to flip wires around and pay them for fixing what they screwed up. The tech was absolutely useless and appeared to have no working electrical knowledge. My furnace went out the other night I called Goodberlet. They sent out a tech the second they opened. Tyler is the tech who came. He had diagnosed the problem within minutes of him being here he acknowledged that he had to order the part and that it would take until tomorrow to get the part in. I said okay. Tyler then offered me 3 heaters to keep warm till the next day. I was so grateful to Tyler, The next morning Tyler called me and said my part was in and that he was on his way over here to put it in I couldn't believe how quick this part came in and how quick they had service me to get my heat back on. I have used them for 12 years and it has been a nightmare which is on me for giving them the benefit of the doubt. Unbelievably high prices, service call after service call, after about 6 they finally got it working. Working with this company has been a total disruption to my life not to mention leaving me financially bruised. Thousands of dollars spent and having to sit there with a space heater. Blowing out circuits, telling you how stupid the previous technicians are, standing me up on numerous occasions. They make it clear they want the money . . . NOW, horrible office scheduling. I called Goodberlet for a problem with my heating and since I've used them before it was a no brainer. I had to go to work but my son was home to let them in and to pay them with a credit card I left with him. The task was completed in 40 min where after they left without providing an invoice or requesting payment. My son texted me it was a bad igniter which was replaced and everything was working. I texted Goodberlet thanking them for the prompt repair and requesting an Invoice, I provided an email and they requested a phone number which I provided. The second day I got a call at work that requested payment which I was going to provide but taking out my wallet I realized that my son still have my card. So I asked if they can call me after work and they agreed to do that. I again requested the invoice and ask what the amount was for the service provided. To my shocking surprise it was $324, $89 for travel and the rest for igniter assembly. While I had them on the phone i just looked up prices and none were even close to that. The 3rd day I received a voice message stating that I need to call back and explain why I am refusing to pay for the service provided. This company bought out Elm Heating. Which my elderly parents dealt with for many years. Elm always took care of my parents. Rick told my elderly parents that their 9 year old Lennox furnace had to be replaced because it was OLD and clearly had issues, electrical issues, it could start on FIRE! On Lennox's website, it states that with yearly maintenance and cleaning a furnace life span is around 15 to 20 years. This companies tech put the humidifier filer in backwards causing water to back-up. Their fault! They say they did nothing wrong. read more

Our A/C unit is 27 years old (Original to the house). I came home Tuesday evening at 10 pm, to find our A/C quit working. I contacted Home Advisor. Home Advisor said I would receive an email within 15 minutes. After waiting 2 hours for my email, I called Goodberlet at 11 am Wednesday morning. They were at my home Wednesday at 1:30 pm. My A/C was restored by 2:10 pm. The techs were courteous, pleasant, and professional. When they left my unit was performing great. Thanks! I would recommend them to anyone. They came out fast after I called them for a Well Chlorination job, But I find them too high priced, just to put Bleach down a Well should not cost that much to me. My wife called for the air conditioning to be assessed to determine the problem. Being the savvy young lady that she is, she had determined the issue with the unit before it was confirmed with Phillip. Phillip stated its the control panel and it, (the panel) would cost approximately $300 with $400 total with labor included. Hmmmmm.... as previously stated, my wife is savvy. She obtained the price of the panel and found it to be $97 and some change. Now lets just say that this company had to obtain this panel from Where EVER, USA or Around the WORLD, Nation the cost of shipment could be no more than $50. I will give you the $100 for your labor if that's your price, I will NOT haggle you about it. But to LIE and up the price of the part is NOT a sign of integrity or honesty nor people I want to do business with. Goodberlet came out on very short notice to look at what I assumed was a failed $400 sensor on my water heater. The technician was very professional and helpful. He recommended cleaning the sensor before replacing it and that did the trick. Very thankful for their great service. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would....these guys are a bunch of overpaid slop artists. I had a new furnace and air conditioning installed by these jackasses and it cost me over $10,000....almost $3500 over what I was quoted, and their work is shoddy at best, it looked like a school kid installed this. I hired Goodberlet after my furnace got destroyed by flood damage. They came out quickly and quoted me a fair price for the new system. The sales guy actually even asked me questions about how long I planned to stay in my home and said he specifically wouldn't recommend any upgrades beyond the base model because of the number of years it would take to see a benefit in the efficiency to offset the higher price. It's nice to have someone who isn't constantly pressuring you to spend more money and just speaks plainly with an eye toward the best interest of the customer. Shortly after the new furnace was installed, I called them because I thought there was a problem in the blower as my air conditioner was on but nothing was coming through the vent. They sent a technician out right away and fixed the problem immediately. Turns out, the problem was in the air conditioner line which had been installed by another company (bought by Goodberlet) three years ago. The technician fixed the problem and they waived the service fee only charging me for the cost of the coolant. They offered wonderful customer service and got everything running beautifully. I highly recommend them for any HVAC needs. read more

Save your time and money with this place. I'm sure any other company would provide a better experience and would be far more honest to work with than this one. Very unprofessional and over priced!!!! Appointment to look at water heater was at 8:00 in the morning on a Friday, the guy didn't show up until almost 3:00. No courtesy calls! Then they had to order a part, so we had to wait an entire weekend. Only to be told the following Monday that they now have the part in, then nope we have the wrong part, to oh we do have the part. ‍Lisa, the dispatcher / "general manager" then charged us some made up price that conveniently didn't even include tax. When we requested an itemized bill to show a breakdown of the price of parts and labor, they wouldn't provide us one. I've had no luck with getting in touch with someone higher up than a general manager. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!!! Not worth the headache. This one star is actually being quite generous. Was in desperate need of getting my toilet unclogged. I tried many different things and nothing worked. I decided to use this business after no answer from another plumbing service. The lady who answered the phone was very friendly. She was able to get someone over within the hour. He was very professional. It took him approximately 3 hours to finally get it working. In the process he replaced the toilet ring that was cracked. The price was reasonable at $145. When he was working on the toilet, he noticed my well water pump was short cycling and took some extra time to check it out. He gave me excellent advice & options on how I could fix it. I now have to set aside some money for a new pressure tank before the motor burns out. read more

He took the time to show me exactly what was wrong with my A/C and furnace, and is very knowledgeable. This is not the original Goodberlet's. I had used them before and found them fair and honest so when my A/C needed looked at, I called them. The tech inspected the unit, declared it dirty causing lots of issues like overheating, said the wiring in the furnace was damaged, the A/C was undercharged (the tech called my husband and told him they no longer made the refrigerant so the entire system would need to be flushed and replaced with $200/lb refrigerant) and overall recommended we replace both the furnace and A/C. For this "inspection" they charged me $215 - and did NOTHING! Wanting a second opinion, I called another HVAC repair in the area. THAT tech came out on short notice, checked the system, said the system was dusty but didn't interfere with the operation, declared the wiring good with no damage, recharged the A/C with the original refrigerant (2 lbs), and left me with a $210 bill and a functioning HVAC system. I get the impression that this company is just out to sell new Furnaces and A/Cs with no regard for service or loyalty and they use fear tactics to accomplish it. read more

Where they were quick about coming & doing repairs, if u don't mind being priced gouged royally, use them. But I went online & found all the NEW parts for under $800 & they charged us OVER $2100 & had the nerve to say they didn't charge for labor. Bull crap! PATHETIC! He was here for 5 hours. Very, very shady. Tech came out to look at a leaking furnace/AC that I was told by an HVAC acquaintance had a leaking drain pan. Tech came out, looked at system, and told me it was outdated and we needed a whole new system. When told we didn't have the money for a new system, could he fix the leaking, he acted very annoyed and said he could but it would be over $800 for a new evaporator coil and would just be a bandaid. I said go ahead with that because we can't afford a whole new system. Didn't hear back from them so called back a week later. Office person contacted tech and he said no, the system needed to be replaced. I told the office person that he told us it COULD be fixed. She called him back and he changed his answer to well, it could be fixed but would be over $800. We said go ahead with that. He went back to look at the furnace, was very rude and annoyed and said it needed to be replaced and he was refusing to fix it. We then had our general handyman come over, he took the drain pan out, plugged up the leaks, reinstalled it, and it is working like a charm and leak free - for $75! Then Goodberlet sent us a bill for $65 for them to come out, lie to us about what needed to be done to try and get us to buy a new system, and when we didn't go with buying a new system, refuse to do the $800 repair they incorrectly said it needed.
