Leaving a 5 to counter some of those VERY old 1star reviews about staff who are likely no longer employed at the store. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us when we entered, offered to hang up our coats for us if we didn't want to wear them, and engaged us in conversation. Buddy, the dog, is a well known fixture at this store. Though he is ten years old, he didn't seem skittish around customers at all and welcomed belly rubs. Very cute! Great little gift shop! Sault New England, I salute you!…read more Doing some window shopping, we walked into Sault New England. I'm seeing some very cool clothing with a military / New England vibe. I saw a tee shirt that spoke to me. I grabbed it and walked to the register. Now there's a Naval Shipyard here, I have to ask: do you give a military discount? I'm told yes! Sault New England, the designer/owner Phillip Saul offers clothing with a New England in mind. The shirts, sweatshirts and tee shirts are all focused for casual wear. It was a very nice shop and I'm happy with my purchase. Mr Saul, I thank you for recognizing military and veteran shoppers.

I stopped into this boutique during an evening stroll and unfortunately had a really uncomfortable…read moreexperience. I had my baby with me in a carrier, and from the moment I walked in, I felt like I was being closely watched. While I was in the dressing room trying on clothes, I was talking softly to my baby to comfort her. The employee stood right outside the dressing room and was giggling at what I was saying, which made it very clear she was listening and hovering nearby. Instead of feeling like a customer, I felt like I was being monitored, as if there was concern I might steal something. And then as I came out of the fitting room and let her know I didn't find anything and thanked her, she went straight into the room, I have no doubt to make sure I didn't steal anything. As a mom just trying to shop with her baby, this felt really discouraging and unwelcoming. I left feeling uncomfortable and out of place. I hope the boutique can work on creating a more inclusive and respectful environment for all customers.

I honestly enjoyed my shopping experience at Kittery, but I also went on a weekday so it wasn't…read morebusy at all and there was no traffic in the area. I found a lot of good deals on clothes. I usually don't have much luck with clothes shopping so I was pleasantly surprised to have bought so much clothing. It was easy to go in and try on clothes in fitting rooms of all the stores I went into and lines were short everywhere. Every store charges 5 cents for a bag to put your purchased items in. I'm not sure if this is a Maine thing, a Kittery thing, or an outlet thing there but I was surprised by this .. not that it's a huge deal or anything. At first, I paid for a bag then I started to just carry my clothes out the store without a bag. I took off a star for two reasons - echoing off what other Yelpers have said, it's kind of annoying that the stores are all separated into different plazas so you have to drive to the different plazas. Each plaza has 5-7 stores I'd say. If I was shopping alone, i wouldn't mind it, but because I was with my husband and we like different stores, we couldn't just split up once we got there since we would have to get back in the car and drive to the next store. Because of this, there were times I'd sit in the car and wait for him to check out the store he likes or vice versa. The second reason I took a star off is because I felt the stores could be a bit cleaner especially because it was a weekday and wasn't super busy. All the doors had fingerprints all over them as if they hadn't been cleaned in awhile so that kind of grossed me out, but thankfully most stores had hand sanitizing stations at the entrances too. The outlets are close to Portsmouth, NH which has lots of food and touristy things to do so you can make a day of shopping at Kittery and checking out Portsmouth!
