If you're looking to party in the day time or people watch; the pool was awesome. Grab a lounge chair or jump right into the mess and you're transported to a Jersey Shore-esque atmosphere (but I'm told less Jersey Shore than some of the other swim up bars that Put In Bay offers). When we went on Sunday at 3pm, the party was going full swing and the DJ was great. There was no cover charge on Sunday and my friends reported the drinks as strong and reasonably priced. We stayed there for a few hours, danced in the pool, did plenty of people watching and enjoyed the escape from reality. I'd recommend Sand Bar in Put In Bay if you're looking for the best swim up bar and a fantastic DJ. Don't miss out!

But then as the night went on the girl became busy with tidying up the place. The guy bartender totally was dismissive. We had to uncomfortably wave at him because he was too busy entertaining everybody else aside from us. Not a, "are you guys ok? Can I get anything else for you?" Nope, we became an afterthought. He'd rather entertain people who can't order a proper dry martini correctly. I dunno, maybe he deemed We didnt belong there. I guess thats how they weed out people they dont want going in there. Im extremely disappointed. I had high hopes of this place being classy, but then ended up realizing they'd rather entertain pretentious patrons. Find me elsewhere. I'll just be one less patron they have to think about huh?

For the most part, I enjoyed myself at this "lounge" . . . extra point for smoking options. Since the lounge is in the middle of the casino, I would have expected the service to be fast. Boy, was I wrong. Perhaps, the lounge needs to staff more bartenders. Both of the bartenders were pretty nice to me, but I did notice that they were quite rude to other customers. I'm not sure if the customers were rude to the bartenders, but unfortunately, rude customers come with the job. In one case, a customer asked the bartender the types of vodkas the bar served, he pretty much bit her head off. So we did, the next day, I was out with a group and they needed a place to lunch, we came back and enjoyed a very good lunch, with a nice selection, something for everyone. My boyfriend and I live in Grosse Pointe Farms, and we visit the bars in Grosse Pointe and St. Claire Shores regularly. We have been here before, but this was our first time sitting at the bar. The tall gentleman behind the bar was extremely sweet and attentive, and I feel terrible for him because of the dark haired, bigger lady that he had to work with. I have been in the service industry for years and could tell that she was working the "service ticket" aspect of the bar while he was busting his ass taking every other customer. He asked her to take our order because he was obviously slammed, and she looked back at us and said "Who them? No." While my boyfriend was in the bathroom, I even overheard her talking to another couple calling the gentleman that she was working with an "asshole." Really!? He is making all of your money while you make small talk with people sitting at the bar who obviously work there. We asked the tall gentleman behind the bar if they pull their tips, and obviously I knew from working in the bar industry that they did. I even told him that I would tip on my card, and he could pocket the $20 bill that we were trying to give him and he respectfully declined. Working in the bar industry, it is crucial to work together as a TEAM, and we were extremely turned off by the way that the other bartender was treating her coworker. If we do return and that lady is behind the bar, we definitely will not be staying.

Our waiter Eric quickly showed up and brought us some waters and a drink I had ordered. Looking through the menu, I went with the East Side burger which was a 1/2 pound Angus burger with an egg and bacon on brioche bun. My wife ordered the Cajun pasta with chicken added. Both of our meals came relatively quick and tasted amazing. My wife wouldn't stop raving about how good the chicken and the sauce was on her pasta. My burger was excellent as well. It didn't come with any sauce so I ordered the asian zing bbq sauce to add to it. This made it that much better. The asian zing does have a spicy kick to it so keep that in mind if you try it. Overall the service was excellent and we really enjoyed the food and the ambiance of this great restaurant and highly recommend a stop if in downtown Detroit.
