I gave them a small outline and then asked the artist to put his artistic spin on it and it turned out even better than I thought it could be! Absolutely love it! Getting my second one from them today. 4 stars because I don't recommend this shop to everyone- If you aren't ready to be nice/cordial I get the vibe they won't be with you. Me, my dad and my brother wanted to get a tattoo that my older brother had, it's very simple numbers, but we wanted it done for the 1 year anniversary of my older brother's passing. i wanted to do my research beforehand and get everything done and squared away. i knew when the day came to get the tattoo that we were going to have a difficult time with the grief we have. I called ahead of time to talk to someone about the tattoo design and setting up an appointment. Telling, them we're getting a tattoo in honor of my brother that passed, they told me to come to the store. I came to the store with my dad to talk about the tattoo design and to set up an appointment. The people in the shop were just standing around with maybe one person getting a tattoo. They wouldn't even look at what we wanted and they told us there was no need to make an appointment and just to walk in on the saturday. We leave. Well, the day comes to get the tattoo. The three of us drive there and we go into the store and I repeat what I said the other night. There were no available artists for another hour and a half. We had to wait around for someone to do our tattoo. In the end, the guy who did the tattoo matched what late brother had as his tattoo. However, the entire situation could've gone a lot more smoothly with better customer service. The time was very emotional for all of us and the tattoo place didn't make it much easier. read more

I came in on a Sunday. The guy asked how he could help us. So, I told him I just needed a tiny thing on my hand. He then immediately asked, "are you a tattoo artist!?" I was literally going to see if he could fill in a faded heart a centimeter tall, and a centimeter wide with red. He didn't even ask what it was, or tell me to make an appointment. Sometimes when the place is real busy (it was not) they'll just tell you to make an appointment, which is fine. But I guess that's too complicated of a project for this shitty "artist". I've never been to a tattoo shop where the artist was that dismissive and rude without even knowing what I actually wanted. It was the middle of the day. I wasn't drunk, or anything that might warrant that reaction. I simply answered the question that he asked. Avoid, unless you enjoy being condescended to and talked down to by a prima donna who acts like he is doing you a favor, and doesn't seem to realize a tattoo shop is a business. These people don't seem to realize that the same people testing the waters at a particular shop with something small today, are the same people that will walk in for something more complex another day. I drove over to Atomic Tattoo the same day, encountered a more professional environment, and was in and out in 15 minutes. read more

The moment I said white ink, this ***hole said no. Wouldn't even let me go any further. I get that the white ink won't show up very well, and that's kind of the point I was wanting. For it to be something that I knew was there and helped me when I needed it. I was pretty much going to pay them for barely any work, almost free money. You get a tattoo because it means something to you. Good job telling a veteran that the one they want isn't worth your time, real classy. Very unprofessional experience I stopped there with three or four options for a small tattoo, so I just wanted to ask about pricing like they suggest on their page. But one of the small, tattooed, full-beard artist just looked at me like I am stupid to even ask about it, he did not even explain why he won't make the tattoo smaller, he just laughted everytime I asked or showed him the picture, so he barely answered to me, he has not even suggested a better option, has not explained anything, just laughted and kept saying "no" with every picture I showed him. (maybe he just does not know how to do his job properly? Even in Europe they know how to make a smaller tattoo and all without acting like I am a little sh** asking for pricing;-). I left that place with one thought - never coming back thanks to this guy. Let me start by saying, you will not be disappointed by this shop. I went in with a drawing (and honestly my artist laughed at it... I am happy he was open, honest and steered me in a much better direction) and made an appointment to come back and get the thing applied. My words of advice-know what you want before you go, it will help them out. Let them lead you with your idea, they do this every day and can give some great advice. They are super friendly, they care about their work and most importantly they are passionate about their job and their work. I would venture to guess that each and every employee there LOVES their job. They are not just a studio, they are a family. They genuinely care for one another, they are not scared to ask an opinion of one another and they are open, honest, courteous and careful about what they do. Their job is to create a lasting image on your personal space and to do it as efficiently and effectively as possible. They do exactly that. EXACTLY. They are artists and friends. I originally found Steve Goodspeed when I randomly walked into a shop while visiting San Diego. His work was so good and precise that I got compliments on it everywhere I went. Interestingly, it was especially other folks with tattoos who knew their stuff that were super impressed. So when I went back, I wanted him to do another but they'd told me he left. I was bummed but managed to find him online at this shop and was psyched cause I knew I'd be in Austin a couple weeks later. Sure enough, my newest tattoo from Steve is everything I had in my mind but he put into art. And I get just as many compliments on it. Steve was amazing and honestly, Johnny was awesome too with cracking jokes and making the whole place super comfortable and welcoming (which we all know, not every shop is). A look through the albums told us these guys were super talented, true artists. Talking to them was easy & comfortable, like talking to long-time friends. They were able to accommodate us that day & went above & beyond to knock it out of the park. We have officially found our new tattoo "home." Dylan may be young, but talented beyond his years.
