It's 4.3 miles around the lake with some spur trails that go into the woods on the west side of the lake. There is a lot of flat terrain on the east side, more hilly on the north and west sides. When the trail becomes impassible due to deep snow in the winter, there is an indoor track that is .1 miles per lap in the newly constructed recreation center. It can get a bit crowded and many of the people don't understand track etiquette so it can be a little frustrating if you're looking to get a real workout on it but it's still there in a pinch if you need it. You will frequently see rabbits on the east side of the trail in particular and the occasional snapping turtle in the springtime. Also in the spring you will see turtles sitting on logs in the shallow end of the water on the southwest corner. I have not seen them myself but I understand that bald eagles frequent this lake in the winter months and every spring a new family of swans is born as well as geese. There is also a blue heron who likes to spend time here. I see a lot of people fishing here and you can rent boats if that's your thing and you can also rent a pavilion if you have an event of some sort. And they run an amazing youth sports program as well as a summer camp. It is a real treasure to have this in our town.

Easy hikes, beautiful picture ready areas, peaceful, gorgeous grounds, multiple trails, plenty of seating areas, kids play ground, boat rentals, fishing, multiple covered areas of various sizes for parties and now they are building a very large facility and so much more. It is a must visit to enjoy the outdoors in Newburgh.

You could start here and bike or hike 20 miles or less depending on your fitness level. Trail is well paved for both walking, hiking and biking with seating along the route for breaks. There doesn't seem to be a clear spot to park at this entry point but it's a city type area so street parking can very likely be found. There are spots to eat in this immediate area to reward yourself after a vigorous walk or bike.

I picked this trail out a while back, which in fact is part of the Wappingers Greenway Trail. This…read moretrail has four trailheads, considering it's a long trail that covers 2.73 miles. Only two trailheads provide parking while the other two don't. Along the way, there's plenty to take in, specifically the beautiful scenery paralleling Wappinger Creek and the view looking south toward the Hudson River. Some places are a bit steep and the edges are narrow as well - proceed with caution. We personally enjoyed our walk, and highly recommend it. The only issue that needs to be fixed is the bridge, located near the Market Street trailhead.

It is stocked at times, so be sure to bring a fishing pole for the kids. They have large fields, playgrounds, tennis courts and more. A guarded beach and paddle boats (in poor shape) are available in the summer. Charcoal grill are scattered throughout and pavilions are available for rend through the town.

There is a small beach area too! Dogs must be leashed and no swimming in the water. The entire trail is over 60 miles long and one day we'll explore more parts! This is an area that people frequently "party." Some areas close to Turkey Hill Pond have a ton of trash - lots of glass shards in areas. Definitely disappointing. We avoid certain areas of this trail to avoid the trash. We usually hike up Turkey Hill which is a short hike with pretty views. I wish people were more respectful and cleaned up after themselves.

Dog bags in the entrance in case you forgot your own and really beautifully manicures and kept up. A boy scout troop dedicated a path that you can hike as soon as you park your car, or you can take the path down to the end and than loop around through the woods. All in all, it's really not a big park, but on a nice day when you want to get yourself and dog out for a bit of exercise, this is perfect!
