The guys in store are always upbeat, happy guys and know gaming in and out!! But what sets this game store aside from EB or JB Hifi is that it has an blast from the past section out the back :)! Anything from the old brick gameboys to the smaller ones, to Atari or Gamecube or my first console the Nintendo 64. Heaps and heaps of games to choose from and the same with the consoles, different colours or all sorts of different year models. Pretty great place if you're looking for a board game - great selection of what you've never heard…read moreof and very likely - whatever it is you're looking for. According to Time Out Sydney, Games Paradise is one of Australia's top 100 games shops, for having the best selection of board games around. I just bought a puzzle for an up and coming flight, and at just $5, the store provides both cheap and fast entertainment, as well as specific and querky high range products - even real life HP potions for mortals over 12! The best part of this shop is the middle aged woman who served us. With some kind of European accent (English, Irish, other, I couldn't be sure), she seems reminds me of the typical Irish lady who we all have living next door and wants to help everyone with everything. Games Paradise Pitt Street is the pace to go for board games, and this lady is the person to go to for advice. If you are walking past it in the street, looking for a board game, bored and looking for fun, or needing a different gift for a friend, Games Paradise is my recommendation.

I went into Games Paradise looking for a game. I stepped into the Paradise of Games, as it claims…read moreto be, and began browsing the shelves. I had no intended game on my mind, I simply knew that a game was what I needed. The aisles are small and the shop could best be described as cosy, if not claustrophobic. Yes, it is a small shop, but here I am hinting about just how many games there are available. Board games, card games, games I didn't know existed. Puzzle games, sex games, games for young, games for old, multiplayer games, single player games, travelling games, games with such complex set ups that you would need to take the monday off in order to complete them. (And that's if you start on a Wednesday.) There are games everywhere! Games stacked on games stacked on games stacked on shelves. If there's a game, they have it. Well, maybe not hopscotch, but they probably sell chalk. There aren't a lot of places that cater specifically for the board game and all its affiliates. Games are sold in all kinds of places, but here they've all come together in their gamey paradise and I guess they like it because they put up with the cramped conditions. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and eager to recommend to me what game, based upon my needs, I would require. The prices are a little steep, but I think that's just board games. And if you really thought about it. The amount of time you spend playing a game like Monopoly, if you pay $40 for it, more if you get the 'Star Wars - Special Edition' like I did. If you really work it out, if you do the maths, it's actually a great deal. For your enjoyment you're probably paying less than twenty cents an hour. Cha-Ching!

How does one even put into words the turmoil and pain I have been through. I would write an award…read morewinning autobiography depicting my tale, but this store has taken too much of my energy. It all started last month, back when I was nothing more but a young, happy go lucky girl in need a cell phone. Oh what a fool I was back then. I went to this store and purchased a 16GB iPhone 4S. Or so I thought. Little did I know my so called "pals" had indeed deceived me, and instead sold me a faulty 8GB iPhone 4S. The battery would go flat at around 50%, and while I may not be a technological genius, something told me that just wasn't correct. I made my merry way back to the store where the employee told be they would first have to test the phone to make sure I was not at fault. Then I could either have the phone repaired, receive a refund, or get it replaced. After the paternity tests proved that it indeed wasn't me who stole half the phones gigabytes and battery life, I asked if I could just get the phone exchanged. Well deja vu, karma, and Amen, this phone was broken too. A mere few days later I returned. This time was different though. No sir was I the chipper young lass I was last time, I was older, wiser, fed upper. How would I describe myself? Three words. Hard-working, Alpha male. Jackhammer. Merciless. Insatiable. I again shared my story, my struggles with one of the employes. She told me they would have to run a forensic data analysis to see if I was at fault but if I wasn't I could either once again be re-issued a phone, or get this phone fixed. I told her that since this was my second time having this problem, I just wanted a refund, an end to my pain, to which she said okey dokey. I later returned, but unfortunately, while I was gone things changed. Joffrey Baratheon had taken over the iron throne, beheaded Ned Stark (spoiler), and also said no refunds. I was conflicted, confused over why my buddies would give me false information, a glimmer of hope in an increasingly dark world, and then snatch it from my young unsuspecting hands. They told me that they had a phone from a company that was testing it and assured that this time the phone would remember you need to stay on in order to make calls and take pictures of food. They offered taking my address so they could have it shipped straight to me and I wouldn't have to return to this house of horrors. I agreed, and gave them my contact info. Flash forward 10 days, I have yet to receive a phone, or even a phone call for that matter explaining the lack of phone! I returned, this time weighed down by the pain of my past visits. The manager recognized me right away, "we still haven't got it!" she told me, when I asked when they thought they would get it she gave me a definite, affirmative, "maybe Monday". Flash forward a week later, I once again returned. Dare I say I was a hint bit upset this time. I was told the phone had gotten lost in the mail, much like my patience had gotten lost in this stores bullshit. The manager told me that if the phone wasn't here by Wednesday, shed drive there and get it. I told her we could all save some time by giving me my rightful refund. They said naw. I later checked their website, it turns out I am entitled to a refund within 8 days if I email them, which no one told me the second time I had this problem, (and it was definitely within 8 days). I have since emailed their corporate to see what will happen from here. With baited breath I wait, my trust depleted, and yet I cannot help but have a glisten of hope for the future.

I will be talking about my experience in playing Magic the Gathering at the Games Corner…read more The place is small and overcrowded. Some nights you can't even hear what the player opposite you is saying. The staff are very rude. If you have any sort of mental illness, or disagree with them about anything, they don't care. They told me that they have banned people from going there. The shop has the bare minimum of each gaming franchise. My friend and I both wanted to buy the same Commander deck, but they only had one copy. Events usually start late, because the owner refuses to use his computer to enter players names. Everything must be written by hand on a piece of paper, and then entered into a computer. This happened at the last prerelease, making us all wait for half an hour before we could play. I tried to explain to the owner that he could just enter names straight into the computer, but he just said it was his shop and he would do what he wanted. That's the kind of service I'm talking about. If you want to eat before playing you are limited to Indian food, Pizza Hut, or a very bad charcoal chicken joint. The place is miles away from Parramatta Station, taking around 30 minutes to walk there. There are much better places in Parramatta to play cards.
