I have very little need to go into children's toy shops these days. There was a time when I used to work in one, but then they stopped giving me shifts and I assume I no longer work there but there really was no official termination, so perhaps that toy store I worked in when I was 15 is my longest job to date.
Anyway! I have no children in my life, no cousins, no muchyounger brother or sister, no nephews or nieces, no friends with kids, no spawn of my own, so I rarely require the retail that deals in replica's and amusement.
But every so often I'll need something like face paint or occasionally a fake moustache and eye patch perhaps and there is a place that I will often turn to. It is La Gardenia on Norton Street.
A small shop no bigger than a Large Car, toys stacked on top of each other for lack of room. If Toy shops were continents, a mainstream retailer like Toys R Us (Possibly my longest employer) would be Australia and La Gardenia India. Toys R Us may be bigger in size but per capita there's also a lot more space. La Gardenia is packed to the brim with toys, children's clothes and figurines.
The lady who works there is very sweet and the most important thing, they stock face paint and occasionally moustaches and eye patches too. read more
