My parents have hired BCool in the past and recommended their services. I called them first thing in the morning and they were very professional and scheduled someone to come the same day within 2-3 hours of my call! I was very happy about that. The gentleman that came was super nice and what I loved is that not once did he tried to up sale anything and kept in sight what he was here to do which was to make the AC unit blow cold air. He found the issue very quickly which was my capacitor, replaced it and unit immediately started working properly. I asked about maintenance as I bought this house in 2020 and didn't know when unit was last serviced. He recommended a cleaning of the inside unit. He showed me how filthy is was and how the line needed to be cleared. I was happy that I chose to do that as it gave me comfort that now the unit is up to date. The reason I called wasn't just because of a musty smell. My biggest concern is that whenever the AC kicks on, my eyes burn, my nose gets congested, and I start sneezing. I've been dealing with allergy-like symptoms for a while now, and I was hoping to finally get some answers. The technician spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out the source of the issue. After the initial diagnostic, I was told it would cost an additional $75 to continue investigating because the system was wrapped differently than expected and required more time to access. I agreed because I genuinely wanted to get to the bottom of what was causing my symptoms. In the end, I paid about $173 and still don't have a clear answer. There were several possibilities mentioned, but nothing definitive. I was shown a picture that was supposedly of my evaporator coil, but when I asked for a copy, I was told it would be uploaded to my profile. I never received it. What bothered me most is that I was left without any real explanation for what is causing the burning eyes, congestion, and sneezing. At one point, I was told I may just need to "get used to it" or consider replacing the AC because of its age. That was frustrating to hear after spending money specifically to find the cause of a problem that's affecting my quality of life. I don't expect every service call to end with an easy answer, especially with an older system. But I do expect clearer findings, better documentation, and more direction than "it might be this" or "it might be that." The company was professional and responsive, but I walked away feeling like my main concern was never really addressed.

Two technicians from other companies noticed the condensation bulb in the air handler was removed and said that was a big no-no that could have contributed to the unit failing. (I'm not saying it did since there's no way to know but it was certainly disturbing to hear that). When I asked SFD about this, they they either never noticed it or just missed it and that it wasn't that big of a deal. That was a little disappointing to hear because we paid hundreds of dollars for their bi-annual maintenance plan and they had just inspected the units although this time they sent a less experienced tech. They also gave us conflicting information about whether the other (working) air handler needed to be cleaned or not. I liked these guys a lot and trusted them but ultimately there were too many red flags and so they lost our business.

Old outdated technology. The Daikin FIT system is like an automobile AC on auto setting. Set the desired temp to 68 and the fan speed will lower while the cooling temp raises until it reaches 68. Then the system will continue running to maintain the desired temp. The Daikin FIT system is the FIRST home AC system that performs the same way. The compressor and air handler communicate to achieve this and the Daikin One thermostat is top of the line that displays outside temp and humidity along with indoor temp and humiDoty as the Daikin FIT system is also a dehumidifier. installing this system, as well as maintaining it, is more difficult than a standard AC unit so one wants to ensure they hire a company with extensive experience. That's we we decided on Daikin FIT and Ductmasters. We spoke with several other AC companies who tried to talk us out of the Daikin FIT system and instead tried to sell us the cheapest AC unit in the market, because that's all they knew how to install. Don't fall for the AC guy that tries to sell you on unit price because you will be sorry later. Ductmasters is a professional company that installed an entirely new duct system along with the Daikin system. The crew performed in a manner fitting of top notch commercial installers They arrived in 2 commercial vans and the crew immediately began to work like soldiers. The gutted the old duct system and carted it away. I know others leave it in the driveway for bulk trash pickup. They also brought 2 portable AC units to help cool the house for the 2 days we had no AC. It took them 3 days for the whole job and we couldnt be happier with the quality and performance.
