I needed to have the roof of the well pumphouse repaired. Through Angi I was contacted by Gonzalez Roofing and Construction. Mr Dago Gonzalez arrived to assess what needed to be done. While doing that I discussed with him about staining the deck. He assessed that as well and gave us an estimate for both projects.
Mr. Gonzalez and his crew did and excellent job on both the pumphouse and the deck. I have no complaints along those lines AT ALL! Again EXCELLENT work.
Here comes my complaint. As Impressive as Mr. Gonzalez is, the communication is severely lacking. He gave a start date for the project as well as how long it would take to complete. When the date to start passed I contacted, attempted to contact. Left voice and sent text messages several times. I was at the point of contacting another company when I was contacted by Mr. Gonzalez stating that they would be there by the following weekend and he and his crew did arrive. Because the roof on the pumphouse needed a total rebuild as opposed to just a repair as he had first suspected the project went from being a one day project as he advised. The roof job again...BEAUTIFUL and no complaints and outstanding job.
Now to the deck. The next week one of his men arrived to work on the deck. During that process Mr. Gonzalez discovered that there were a boards that would need to be repaired. He stated that he could stain and paint the deck but with those bad boards it would certainly be back in a year to deal with that issue. Had no issue with that said GO FOR IT! He left leaving us with a selection of paints to choose for the deck telling us that once we made a choice we could contact him with it. His employee began sanding, removing the old paint, which was not the proper paint for the deck (our former handyman had done that job) at any rate the employee completed the job however after he left he heard nothing from Gonzalez for a few days. We attempted to contact Gonzalez construction two reasons. One, his equipment was being rained on and two we wanted to know when they were coming to complete the deck. Several days later they arrived to begin work. I was at work and because the deck was my mom's project she took charge of that project. She asked, as they removed several heavy and odd shaped items off the deck to begin work on the deck, would they be putting all items back on the deck once completed. She was assured they would. She made this known because she was concerned about me. I am a stroke survivor which left my left side a bit compromised and because I tend to be stubborn, she knew that if they did not put the items back on the deck, I would attempt to do so putting my health at risk.
Let me try to make this long long review shorter (too late) We attempted again to contact Gonzalez to find out when they would be completing the deck job (voice mail and text) They gave us a date, it passed with no one showing up. Now that the Queen is involved (mom) she was not amused nor pleased. They finally showed up and began and completed repairs on the deck. Now the painting and staining (not in that order) was delayed due to forecast of rain. I am not a weather man, however I have lived in the south all my life to know that it may say it's gonna rain in one part but the other part gets nothing. Every other place got rained except us but be that as it may it took another several days to get that part done. But it was done. HOWEVER when they completed the job all the items they took off the deck were left in the yard. Yesterday (8/16/2022) I sent a text asking if they were going to put the items back on the deck as they had promised. I got no reply. This morning (8/17/2022) I went out to put the items back on the deck so that my landscaper who is coming this week could do his job. Needless to say in my stubbornness and yes annoyance I attempted to get all the items back on the deck by myself almost falling off the steps trying to get some items back on the deck. So me, a 55 year old stroke survivor, along with his 76 year old mother got everything back on the deck and yes neither one of us ARE AMUSED nor HAPPY about that.
As pleased as we are with the quality of the work that was done. We are not pleased by the communication or the lack thereof. To be fair, I did call Mr. Gonzalez and surprise surprise he answered the phone. I informed him that though I love the work I was not happy that the items were left in the yard, the lack of prompt communication from his company to us as customers. He did ask if there any other items that we needed moved on the property there were none.
So look. Dago Gonzalez is a conscientious young man. I am pleased to see an enterprising young man out here working hard. I have no issues with his work nor the fact that he was here with his crew his sleeves rolled up getting the job done. It's the communication. read more
