Boba tiiiiime
Chrissy F.

My sis and I were craving boba!! She got a strawberry delight of some sort with lychee add-ons and I got a large honey green tea with extra boba. Loved that it wasn't filled with ice so was able to enjoy without being so icy for my sensitive teeth. Crew is patient and friendly - their menu blew me away!! So much variety! I signed up for their rewards program too, got a $1 off for my next visit! The texture of the boba was perfect for me.

I had high hopes for this bubble tea place, but was not impressed. It was very clean (smelled like cleaner) and the guy who helped us was friendly, but the tea itself was mediocre. The bubbles were a bit mushy and the tea was just ok. The matcha wasn't well blended and extremely sweet. We ended up adding our own milk to tone it down. The milk tea wasn't balanced tea to milk. As much as I'm glad to have a boba shop in N Chs, I hope they can/will up their boba making game.

I was craving for milk tea on my way back to Columbia and I searched for milk tea and Gong Cha was one of the suggestion.I walked in to the store,2 girls were there. One sitting down on the counter using her cellphone, the other one was taking my order while sitting down. I ordered my usual, pearl milk tea with pudding but sadly they were out of pudding. They didn't even offer me alternatives. When I asked what else do they have, girl doesn't even seem to know what's in the menu. Both girls look disinterested.Milk tea was good as I've always loved Gong Cha.Service wise 1/10.I've read few reviews talking about how bad service was, hopefully this can be fix.

I was pretty impressed with this boba spot especially given there's only 2 in the Charleston area. We went here 3 days in a row LOL. I got the same item 3 days in a row, their service was super slowly though and they messed up our drink twice... but they were nice about it. The boba itself was pretty good soft and chewy. I got the black milk tea w cheese foam. It was interesting though that they call boba "black pearl". Overall would come back though. Pricing is affordable too.

I was craving some Boba tea, so I pulled up Ubereats to see what's good. This place looked legit, so we ordered 4 drinks to try. I am a ginger fan, so I got the Brown Sugar Ginger Milk Drink. It is weird but good. I got 0.7 ice and 1.0 sweet, and think I should reverse that ratio next time. Hubby got the Brown Sugar Milk Tea with black tea and he loves it! Same ratio as mine and he keeps going on about how good it is. I got a Taro Smoothie and he got a Milk Foam Strawberry Black Tea Smoothie, but those are in the fridge for later. They look perfect, and his is beautiful with the foam on top. UPDATE: the smoothies are DELICIOUS! His fresh strawberry tea Smoothie is fruity and refreshing, the best strawberry drink he's had in years. The Taro Smoothie is exactly what you expect. It's an Iconic flavor and theirs is one of the best I have ever had. This place is great, and I can't wait to try more of the menu! So many amazing sounding beverages! The only food item on the Ubereats menu is bubble waffles, which we may try next time, or perhaps wait to do an in-person visit. It's my birthday weekend so I might order again tomorrow!

I was so excited to find out Gong Cha is in Charleston of all places. The last time I had Gong Cha was in Korea. The first time I went in they were out of black pearls due to the worldwide shortage. The second time I went in they had boba back in stock, but their printer wasn't working so the poor girls had to hand write all the orders. This definitely caused a long wait and I'm not sure the girl made my tea with oolong. Either way, this is the best tasting boba tea I've had in Charleston and the boba consistency is also the best! The staff was very friendly and patient both times. I would recommend trying it because it is so delicious!

I feel bad for them... They definitely weren't prepared to handle this franchise and are clueless when people asked for typical Gong Cha items that aren't on their modified menu. I'll give them five stars for doing their best and learning from their mistakes as they go. I asked for a Dirty Brown Sugar Milk Tea, a featured item that is sold at all Gong Cha locations, except for this shop apparently, and they didn't know what I was talking about. The white girl (sorry, I would refer to her by her name, but this is the only identifier that I have) was sweet and optimistic and made a wonderful Dirty Brown Sugar Milk Tea without knowing the original ingredients! Despite the hiccups, I'll come back. -- The fact that they're learning as they go is a plus, and I'm sure they will improve massively if given the chance. Plus, I want to try their Viet food fare. I haven't seen a Gong Cha that serves Vietnamese food before and would like to try that next time!

This is a small bubble tea spot on rivers avenue, right next to Sport Clips and Boxcar Betty's restaurant. They have good selection of drinks here, and this is one of the few places i know of that sells "bubble waffles" which are these light, fluffy, egg waffles that are cooked such that they form hollow puffs. It is a hit or miss whether or not they have them though. The cashiers are not very knowledgeable of the drinks other than rereading the name of the drink back to you, but that isn't much of a concern. I usually order 50% sweetness, however they can be inconsistent with how sweet the drinks are, in my experience. The milk foam strawberry green tea smoothie is a dessert type of drink. It was decadent and tasted reminiscent of strawberry pocky mixed with strawberry shortcake and whipped cream. I will definitely order it again as a treat :) Overall if you have a craving for bubble tea, this place is not a bad choice. Great selection, average pricing, and the orders are relatively quick.

Good experience! Upon entry I was helped immediately. Cashier was pleasant and explain the different options to me and we did a few taste testing. I went with the watermelon tea with milk and it was delicious!

The taro with black pearl and red bean is the best. I had hardly finished my beverage and was already plotting gym next visit. The interior of the shop is not the cleanest or the most comfortable--I wouldn't want to hang out there--but the beverages are beyond tasty!

Their sugar level is different on so many different visits I now no longer know what to order for my sugar level, best part yet is when I asked them to remake it, boss lady yelled at me and told me I didn't know how to order it. My fiancé and I don't know whether we need to order extra sugar or less or leave it at 100% because it never tastes the same. Boba quality is still all over the map since last review. Also, collected all our points through our telephone number and then one day it's gone. All the money we've spent that should've been rewards gone. For guest service sake, I'd at least give a couple of stamps but they didn't. I don't recommend this place. Also finally tried their brown sugar boba... let's just say my recommendation is, don't order it. I've had Gong Cha in other cities and this location doesn't do its franchise justice.

Was very excited when I heard about a boba place opening up that was closer than downtown Charleston! I love boba and milk tea so I'm always hitting this place up when I get the chance. With that being said, if I'd written this review a few months ago, I would've given it 5 stars for sure! I've been to this place about 20 times so far (kinda boba obsessed) and I feel like I've watched Gongcha progressively get more disorganized. The last time I went they were out of many things (like some of the jellies, some of the tea flavors, etc). I completely understand this happening once or twice but it seems to be a reoccuring theme whenever I go. I just really hope management starts to improve and become more organized. On the bright side, the milk tea is some of the better milk tea I've had in Charleston! It has a good strong tea flavor and that's what I prefer in milk teas :) The service is usually good as well. However, like I said before, I feel like there could be a bit more organization in how things work because it seems a little chaotic every time I walk in. ALSO, they have "punch cards," so once you get 10 stamps, you get a free drink. Only problem is, they're really big and inconvenient so it can't fit in a wallet or anything. They're also laminated so the stamp rubs off really easily. In my opinion they should just follow what most boba places have and do a business card-esque punch card.

The service was good. However, our boba was just ok, not great. I also tried their matcha waffle. It was very matcha-y but I liked it. The place is cute with bench seats and tables.

The flavor was so good we immediately wished we had ordered two. We were headed to go bowling afterward, so we kept it light...but trust me, we could have easily finished another. The place is spotless, modern, and has a really comfortable vibe. It is a bit pricey, and if it were just a little cheaper, I'd probably be in there every other day. Still, the quality made our first pho experience a great one.

Appetizers are good and come out quickly. For two people, I'd opt for more than a single appetizer if you are peckish. I had a tofu eggplant dish they said was spicy and it WAS. So believe them when you see the chili pepper on the menu. Service was fine; not lightning quick nor did I feel ignored. Parking is shared with other stores in a private lot so not a concern at all. The soups were quite tasty and the vegetables were all bright and appetizing. I'd go back again happily, but not as a group. If you have more than 4 people, consider an alternative location.

The atmosphere was welcoming; I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and the cashier was very friendly. The menu had a variety of options, but I got the large chicken and rice bowl to go. When I received the bowl, it was hot, and it was packed to the top with lots of chicken. One thing I really appreciated was the self-serve pumps for extra teriyaki and white sauce, so I could add as much as I wanted. I can get a little heavy on the sauce sometimes, so having control over that was a nice touch. When I got to the car, I had to take a bite! The food was so good! The hibachi chicken was super tender and flavorful, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided, making it a great value for a satisfying meal. Overall, this is the perfect spot for when I'm craving restaurant-quality hibachi without the wait or restaurant prices. I will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

I ordered filet mignon and shrimp. The woman taking my order asked me how I like my filet cooked. I asked for medium. It turned out well. It seemed to be cooked to the correct temperature. It tasted good. The shrimp were plentiful. There were a few broccoli in the shrimp and some mushrooms in the filet mignon. There was also the traditional zucchini and onions as a vegetable side dish. And don't forget the best part... the big ole scoop of fried rice. I love that stuff. This place has free flowing white sauce. By the drink machine, they have white sauce dispensers and little plastic ramekins to put it in, with lids. They also had spicy white sauce and teriyaki sauce up there. A lot of places charge per each white sauce they give you. I like that this place does not do that. My boyfriend mentioned that he comes here during lunch a lot and orders from the Express Menu. Apparently these menu items can be prepared rather quickly. Great for a quick lunch break meal. Overall, I'm happy with my experience. The food was good. We waited an average amount of time, about 10 minutes for our food. The restaurant seemed clean and well kept. The people were kind. It's a cool spot. Come try this place out!

We thought the vegetables were going to be different than what comes with the dinner. Usually it's broccoli, carrots, and stuff other than zucchini and onions, but it was just the zucchini and onions. For the fried dumplings, I never know if that means pan fried or deep fried and they were deep fried here. I prefer them pan fried but they were still tasty. And the shrimp tempura came with shrimp, but also a bunch of tempura vegetables which was a nice surprise, but would have been nice to know when ordering. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and it was delivered quickly. I would order from them again, but take into account some of the things I learned above. It is spacious with lots of table and tabletop seating. I ordered the Steak (Medium Rare) and Chicken plus the Chicken and Shrimp Entree which each includes vegetables and fried rice to go. Unfortunately, I didn't check my order until I got home and what I got was two Shrimp and Steaks. Not only did they mess up my order, but the steak was well done instead of medium rare and was very tough and rubbery. The shrimp was also overcooked and very bland. The rice and vegetables were edible. There is a self serve sauce station that has white sauce and teriyaki sauce. However, the white sauce is very watered down and tastes nothing like original hibachi white sauce. The food overall by itself tasted very bland and I couldn't finish my food and threw it away. I will never come back here and I recommend checking out the many better restaurants nearby.
