This is the first time that My Wife and I have been to this particular location and this one was by far our favorite. Hot Wings and a Gondolier Special were what we had and we were extremely satisfied. Our server Regina offered friendly and personable service, poured a fine mug of beer, and even shared a smile while eating her first anchovie. My wife had the Chicken Picatta and I had Chicken Marsala. We were disappointed to discover that canned mushrooms were used in the sauces. Also, sauces were thick and not very flavorful. I can't believe we waited so long to come here! The restaurant was clean, looked pretty & nice. The waitress did a wonderful job. She was friendly, attentive & got exactly what we needed. And the food!!! The bread and sauce they brought to the table was a crowd pleaser for all 4 of us! My husband ordered lasagna with Parmesan chicken and he really really enjoyed it. Me & the kids got a pizza with pepperoni, beef, ham & green peppers and it was so good. I had asked for garlic to put on the pizza cuz I usually need it but this pizza needed nothing. Stopped by with my Mother on a road trip heading North on 75. We were hungry, with dining options near the freeway somewhat limited. Food tasted - as a previous reviewer noted - like warmed up frozen grocery food. And my Mother's Salad had a plastic cap from what probably was the salad dressing container in it. Waiter didn't offer any discount upon this discovery, just to replace the salad which had pretty much killed our appetite (we declined.) In general, the service was slow, even though the place was not near capacity, with our waiter more interested in playing with the TV on the wall than serving his customers. Not sure what all the other reviewers rating this place 4-5 stars were smoking. On a good day, I would give this place 2-3 stars. Add slow service coupled with a plastic cap in the salad, and you get 1 star. read more

I moved to the Clinton, TN area a few months ago, and, as is my custom, seeking out quality Italian-inspired/styled food is one of my first orders of business. The local Gondolier has a number of things going for it - for starters, the best white ricotta pizza I've ever had. About three times a month I've visited the restaurant, enjoying their individual pizza & side salad lunch deal for $6.99. All of the wait staff has been friendly, polite, and welcoming (and quick to remedy the situation in the rare event of an error in my order.) They also have free wi-fi (a big plus in my book - it's surprising how many "sit-down" restaurants STILL don't offer this service), comfortable booths, and a free bowl of bread and sauce (tasty tip - add a generous amount of the available Parmesan cheese to the marinara bread dipping sauce) As a Yankee, I will also admit I am fond of the fact that some of the servers will call a customer "honey" or "sweetie" sometimes - it's a form of southern charm that I'd all but forgotten after an extended stay in the "North". I'm glad to be back in Tennessee, all things considered. :) read more

Since this restaurant moved in, my husband and I have become regulars for the last 8 years. We are friends with the owner's now and with many servers. Everything on the menu is wonderful. From the free bread and marinara sauce to their signature spaghetti and meatball or lasagna Italian dishes. The burgers and fries are better than most restaurants. And the quantity you get for their reasonable prices keeps us coming back. Did I mention they have pitchers of beer? Not many restaurants sell these anymore. I found Gondolier to be a great restaurant. It's clean and new looking with a Greco-Roman decor that offers a formal appeal to a casual restaurant. They offer complementary bread sticks that are soft, warm, and ever-so slightly seasoned; they were quite good. I ordered the large house special (supreme) pizza that was 14 inches an big enough to feed a family of 4. The pizza was average not spectacular, but not bad either. The worst thing I could say about the food was that the pizza oven might be cooking at the wrong temperature as the crust wasn't cooked to perfection. The ingredients were ultra fresh though; it was probably the best tasting sausage I've had on a pizza yet. Oh, and the offer domestic draft beer by the pitcher. They also have a very extensive menu in addition to your classic Italian cuisine. Well done Gondolier! Keep up the good work. read more

Okay - I'm sad that Alan beat me to yelping this place first. Go out of the country for 21 months and you don't stand a chance anymore. I generally hate the Gondolier - and when I say hate I really mean despise. My wife kept telling me this one was different and since it was near the house we stopped by to use a gift card we received for Christmas. MAN OH MAN was I surprised. We've been back about once a week since then. The gyros are excellent - not the dried out stuff other Gondoliers serve. Tzatiziki - great. Spaghetti, lasagna, and pizza - superb. I had a cobb salad with chicken last time and it was out of this world. Most of the wait staff were attentive and courteous. Deserts are great too - but like Alan said - a little pricey for me. read more

We ate there after reading a couple of good reviews and we were visiting Clinton during a festival so were not familiar with the town at all. The food was very good and portions were ample. Prices were good and the service we received was exceptional. I can't recall what we ordered but I do remember everyone was well pleased and we did order desserts. There were 4 of us, two couples and we split two desserts that were large enough to share and were just decadent! Very good place to eat and be well taken care of while you enjoy your meal. How do you say canned sauce. I got the cheese ravioli with marinara sauce topped with mozzarella cheese. The ravioli was gummy and flavorless. The sauce was tasteless. They must expect the lavish blanket of mozzarella cheese to redeem this dish but it didn't by a long shot. The fabulous looking desserts - we got chocolate cannoli, Reese's cake (HUGE slice) and baklava (the ONLY tasteful item today). My daughter got the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, fair tasting, my hubby got the gyro with spaghetti on the side. He was the only diner fully pleased with his choices. We did ask for boxes to take home what we didn't finish, the stray dog in my yard may get the ravioli. I would have preferred Olive Garden even though it has worse reviews than this place. read more

Dropped by the Gondolier for dinner on a recent stay in Clinton, TN. I was impressed. The food was excellent, the service fast and cheery and the prices very reasonable. I started with their fresh bread. It was hot and soft. Had a great taste. Next. I had the chicken parmesan. It was cooked well, the breading was just right and the sauce was delicious. Next time I'm in Clinton, I plan to stop back by the Gondolier. If you're in the area and looking for a good restaurant, I'd recommend you do the same. read more

I am a truck driver . I stopped at walmart and decided to sit down and give the gondolier a try . My waiter was a very nice young man Jaelin.S.... extremely pleasant and helpful. I commend such a young man with a great work ethic. I was also please with my meal which started with chicken and rice soup. Very flavorful not stuffed with just rice and nice white meat chicken. My ceasar salad also was just right correct amount of dressing shaved parma. I was pleased. Then came bread sticks with tomato sauce. I was very surprised. The sauce was mild not over seasoned. A very good sauce. And to top all this of a tremendous portion of spaghetti with eggplant parmagiana... covered in melted mozzerella. An extremely generous portion of eggplant . It was tasty for sure. I couldnt possibly finish . So guess whats for lunch tommorrow. There display case was also impressive with hugh cakes cannolis and brownies. To which i passed on . When this place first opened around 9 years ago it was fantastic. Over the years management got greedy and cut costs such as using dollar store silverware, cups, plastic mugs for beer. They haven't bought new plates. They look dirty. The turnover is high there. My husband ate there 2 to 3 times a week. The sauce got watered down. The food gets burnt every time (calzones, Stromboli)we stopped going for 6 months came back hoping things changed, but no. We started going to the one in oak Ridge. That one is so much better. They have great cooks. Recently we stopped by this one again a few weeks ago and now they can't even get their alcohol license renewed and found out they have new management. The food was a little better. If you go, you can never go wring with the pizza or lasagna or the bacon cheeseburger and their fries are awesome. They get their desserts from somewhere else and they are so worth it. $6 for a huge slice of different kinds of cakes. I hope with new managers it will be like it once was again. I will wait another month or so to find out but for now go to the one in oak Ridge! read more
