Had a wonderful deluxe paraffin pedicure and gel manicure. Prices comparable to others in neighborhood. The ladies there were so nice and I hope to continue to support them by getting my nails done there again. I did gel polish with a cat eye effect and it was so cool! read more

Dip nails chipped after 3 days. Gomos is under new management in recent years. I've given it a try a few times and it's left me less than impressed. I got dip nails on Wednesday and by Friday, 3 had significantly chipped. I hadn't soaked my hands in anything, used lotions, or done any type of work that should have caused it (unless you include checking sofa cushions for a remote). They put on four layers of dip and a gel topcoat. It must be low quality materials because they separated with no damage to the nail bed. Disappointed in the quality. read more

On vacation, I broke a nail. I thought i was lucky that Gomo's was around the corner. I walked in. There were several nail techs available, but I was denied service. They said they wouldn't do it. It's unclear whether they refused service because they didnt have the skill, or that I hadn't gotten my manicure there. I said I would pay. I said it was OK if their colors didn't match ( I would have even chosen a completely different complimentary color). If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more

Probably the best pedicure I've received in a long while. They take their time. They have so many colors to choose from. They have options for upgrades. Really made me feel like they cared. I was relaxed when I left and my toes look fantastic! Very reasonably priced as well. read more

I called to make an appointment for a manicure and full set. I needed a good nail tech because my nails and cuticles were very dry, brittle and delicate. I have eczema on my fingers and around my nail beds. The woman who took my call said she had someone really good, and they'd use the drill to gently buff away my dry cuticles and the manicure would clean up the rest. I asked if they had time to do both and she said 'yes, we need the money.' What I got was an unskilled nail tech. Clearly the receptionist (who I later found out was the owner) didn't inform her about what I needed. Or maybe she did, regardless- I never got the manicure, just the crappy full set. My nails were being put on crookedly and when I pointed it out, she'd say "okay okay." I showed her several times they were crooked. She kept saying, 'fix later, fix later.' So I tried giving this woman the benefit of the doubt and thinking that her technique must be different. Then I asked her about the manicure and she said - don't worry, I do it. I never got it :( It was clear she couldn't see well. I kept telling her my nails were lumpy. She was irritated with me telling her to fix it but her work was sloppy. And to top it off, her mask only covered her mouth and not her nose & mouth (why even wear a mask?) When she finished, I looked at my nails in disbelief. They looked awful. She was quick to clean up, grab her bag and leave for the day. Not even a thank you. I complained to the owner and showed her how horrible my nails looked. She kept saying 'sorry, sorry, I don't think she sees good.' Are you kidding me?? She asked if I could come back to have them fixed but couldn't. I told her I'm visiting from CA and I'm not here for long. I had a rehearsal dinner I needed to get ready for, a wedding the next day then I was on a plane. She basically looked at me like, well I can't help you. The owner could've, at the least refund 50% of my money. When I got back to CA, I had to pay (again) to have them removed & pay again to be applied correctly. I don't like giving poor ratings but they did nothing to make it right for the customer and I was treated like my business didn't matter. read more

I live a block away from this salon, but had never noticed it. Then, one day I was absolutely desperate for a pedicure, but every salon I walked into, was fully booked. While walking back home, I saw Gomo's and went in. They were actually able to do my pedicure immediately! And it actually came out great! It's definitely not a luxury experience however. They have absolutely no AC, so I don't go in the summer. It's also pretty tiny. But, it's clean, the staff is very friendly, (and all staff are fully vaccinated)! The best part are the prices! For a regular non gel manicure - $20! And for gel $38! I usually bring my own polish, so I can't speak to their color collection. Overall, you just can't beat the prices! read more

They were so nice and did an excellent job. My nails look festive and well done. I would use them again and recommend them.

Do not go here!! I went in for a color change and they charged me more than they would for a gel manicure (they charged me $10 to remove my gel and $38 to put on new polish). The math didn't add up, at that point I should of just gotten a full manicure. Also, more than once have I gone there and my nails were NOT good. The manicurists are not experienced enough and definitely need more training. I was a regular for a while now but will not be going back. read more

Please stay away. I went in for a full set (acrylic). They only had one tech that could do it and convinced me to do gel tip extensions, claiming they were healthier. I asked for a thin nail bed, and got wide. I asked about 4 times for them to shape it thinner. They would file a bit and proceed on not listening to my request. When they applied the gel it was lumpy and I informed them for which they blamed me for (even tho I used the upmost caution). Rather then fixing the mistakes they kept going. I should've seen the reviews, I would have avoided at all cost because they clearly don't listen to their customers. I paid $80 for lumpy nails on 5/21. It's now 5/26 and my nails have began to crack (pictures for proof). Never have I had such terrible work! Update: 5/27 - Not even a week has passed and my thumb nail has a quarter sized crack. I work a desk job and am super careful with the care of my nails. read more

I came here because it was close to work and seemed to be the cheapest option for a pedicure ($32 which isn't even cheap but beats the other places nearby). Everything was fine until the nail tech started putting the polish on. I noticed the polish looked kind of worn out and old and told her that it seemed gooey on my nail and was creating bumps. I said let's change to another polish and she refused saying it will flatten out as she adds on more layers. Absolutely not. It got worse, as one can logically assume. I told the nail tech to just remove the polish because I'd rather have no polish than this bumpy uneven bs and and refused saying it looked good. She didn't even clean the sides or anything. Very quick Mickey Mouse job. So disappointed. This was the worst pedicure I've ever gotten. Literally don't waste your time coming here. read more

Super cute salon! I've been looking for a new nail salon and came across Gomo's. When I walked in, the space is on the smaller side but they did a good job spacing clients out. Awful experience all around. Asked rounded nails and got square, tried to explain again and ultimately had to file them myself. Didn't truly cut cuticles at all so much you could still see the cuticles under the nail polish afterwards. Polish job very sloppy. Already made appt at another nail salon for later tonight to have them redo it. To top it off it was one of the more expensive manicures I've had and not worth a single dollar. Do not go. read more

It's a hit or miss but one thing is the tech named Joey or something def needs more training. It's horrifying like she doesn't even know the basic of doing nails or whatever. I've been coming here for three times, the manager lady is great and communicative and the second time I got a pedicure at last second and the lady was professional too also gave a me massage like most nail salon does these days. But this time I thought sure just gonna do a quick pedi this time and a soak off on my nail but omfg bruah!! Firstly I had big gem stones on my finger she literally trynna file it done instead off soak it and clamp it off before filing I stopped her and literally taught her how to clamp it off and I was like fuck she probably doesn't know better and that's exactly what happened. During filing she doesn't lift her hand AT ALL!! she keeps pressing the drill on me and hurt as balls I told her plz lift your hand she was just hehe and I don't know if she doesn't understand or what. And during the last file down one cotton ball got too dry and stuck on my finger instead of rewet it and remove she pulled it literally pulled I was so scared my finger tip gonna fall off I was screaming omfg!! And she just laughed it's not funny!! And then the feet part I can't even she saw me got gel instead of soak and file she decided that's too much work and only did the file do you know how much damage could done bruah?! And while applying gel she didn't care at all kept pushing the light on my nail and was never careful or even looking I had to tell her the light was touching my nail you should check then she checked and blamed me instead. Okay she didn't even wipe my nails with alcohol or whatever at the last step not even mentioning cleaning the cuticle of my toes when it's a literal pedicure. She def needs more training and im scared to come here again. Used to like this place since Philly doesn't have much of great nail salons and the good ones are high end price but I think for now I'd just avoid low end places like this plz train Joey, plz. read more

I came here twice in 2 days to repair my nails that kept breaking due to a previous nail salons work. The place is small and comfy and the staff is pretty friendly. My issue is that they charged me $22 just to trim and re-paint my nails and fix one while they charge $25 for an entire fill! That night another nail broke and I had to go back the next day for a repair. They charged me $13 for the repair plus tip! They said it was because I didn't get a fill. So if I would have paid just $3 more for a fill I wouldn't be charged $13 for the repair? Geez! I won't be coming back. I found a cute nail bar on the other side of the street that offers free wine, stay tuned for the next review! read more

I don't know why other people aren't happy with the service here. I can NOT understand why anyone would give less then 4-5 stars for a well priced nail salon that gives a full arm/hand/back massage with each mani. I just cant. The staff is SO super friendly.... and they get even nicer as you become a regular. I come here weekly and everytime I walk in - they're so welcoming. They also know that I take a long time to pick polish and they're patient. The staff do an excellent job with mani's and pedis. I have never gotten a wax here but im sure they're amazing in that regard as well. There are women that have been coming here for years because of the reputation of this place and their quality. im sad I only found out about it 8 months ago!! My manicures are always perfect. That was a terrible manicure. I'm really not a picky manicure person - I'll go anywhere and have never had issues. That was terrible. The technician was unskilled? It was as if a child did my nails. The cuticle cutting was uneven, the nail filing was not smooth, and the painting was haphazard. I was legit laughing while I sat there. I have paint all around my nail bed and cuticles. You can also see the strokes of the paint. I feel bad having to write this, but that was so terrible I don't want anyone else to waste their money. read more

I went to Gomo's yesterday, and got a gel manicure/pedicure. The service was outstanding; the lady (I don't know her name) that took care of me really made me feel comfortable and gave me an amazing leg/foot massage. When my nails were drying she also gave me a back massage, so I really felt pampered. She gave me a membership card that I'll definitely use. It's my new "go to" place to get my nails done. Went here because of all the recent rave reviews on Yelp. I guess it set my expectations too high. I thought the service was good and the price was reasonable. However, I would not give this place 5 stars. I got a mani and pedi for $40. Made an appointment for Monday at 5pm. Got there at 4:40 and no one was in. I ended up with a Hispanic technician called Isabelle [SP?]. She barely spoke any English but did a scrupulous job on my feet. The hot stone calf massage and the foot massage was nice but only lasted maybe 4 minutes total. I asked her to make the water hotter during the pedicure but she didn't understand me. For the manicure, I got a 1 minute hand massage and another 1 minute neck massage after she had shaped my nails and clipped my cuticle. Felt really good but again, short. What I didn't like was that my technician went rough with he cuticle pusher. I ended up getting a cut on my right pinky. It still hurts and still stings 3 days later! It was also weird that they asked me to pay first before I got my nails painted. The worst part about the experience was that everyone in the establishment was dead silent except for the owners that were playing on the iPads and the only tv that was there was put on some lame beauty infomercial channel. The whole atmosphere felt sorta tense. No one made any conversation. Also, I was not offered anything to drink. The whole ordeal took maybe an hour and 15 minutes. My manicure was done with Essie and Opi Polish and it already chipped. I have to try gel next time. Overall, Isabelle did not do a bad job but I just didn't feel relaxed or especially pampered from the experience. read more

I have been going to Gomo for at least 7 years! The girls are always nice and sociable. The shop is very clean and fairly roomy for a nail salon. I love Lisa and Anne, they both give the best massages! You can get a $25 pedicure Monday- Wednesday! The hot stone foot massage really hits the spot!! My tired dogs need it after a day of running around in heels!I would recommend making a reservation, especially towards the end of the week. Walk ins are welcome, however- BEWARE, even though they say '10 minutes'- it could range from 15-30 minutes!! But well worth the wait! The best part is that it's only a few blocks from my office!! HINT,if you are a regular you can purchase a points card for $5.00 and start saving your points towards a free mani or pedi or both! What a great treat! That is...until you realized that you have spent an ungodly amount of money on personal hygiene!! read more

I've been in search of a great nail salon since I moved to Philly 3 years ago... the search continues as this is not it! Service was pleasant enough and reasonably priced for my gel manicure. Don't get LEE. She was mean, did a crappy job and was rude. I asked for new stuff because I know girls who got infections from nail salons using old stuff before. Gomo's is fantastic! I was really surprised to see negative reviews on their Yelp profile -- I wandered into their nail salon one day on a whim and have been going back consistently multiple times a month ever since. The reviews I see on here are not at all reflective of my experiences at Gomo's -- they have an extremely stable set of customers that always return (generally older so they don't post Yelp reviews, so I think this data is skewed). Not only do they have incredible customer service and treatment (they give you a complimentary neck/back massage with every service), their gel manicures and dip powder manicures last longer than every other manicure I've ever had. My gel manicures from them last well over 2 weeks with no chips whatsoever -- the only reason I get it taken off is because my nails grow out! They are extremely kind, and will always try to accommodate you if you're a walk-in. They also take the time to recommend nail polish colors with your complexion and they've never steered me wrong. I love Gomo's! read more

Came here for pedicure since mon-wed is $25. As its price shows the service was a 25 bucks too. The pedicurist scrub and massaged my feet and legs...but you can feel its not real, she just literally touched the area and finished it sloppily. My toe nails have uneven shape and the color fell out of the nail range...i would not recommend this place.... read more

I RARELY leave reviews, esp for nail salons. In Philly for a wedding, and these COVID nails needed some lovin'. Traveled to Philly for a business trip and knew I would need a manicure during my stay. Searched yelp for a bunch of places near my hotel and landed on this one. I'm super I'm picky and even after my manicure I walked away questioning whether they did a good job. Hey, it's almost 3 weeks later and I'm still getting compliments about my nails. I think I made a good choice. They had things my nail salon at home doesn't have like gel machines built into their tables and they placed gloves over my hands to protect them from UV. I don't remember the name of the woman who did my nails, but she's not Asian. She told me she's Ecuadorian. They also give a free 5 minute massage while your gel dries. Happy with my choice. read more

Gomo's Nails Spa - Almost 3 weeks since gel manicure - Nail Salons Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I've been coming here out of convenience but that will no longer be the case. Not once but twice I came for a dip manicure which they began doing as I was getting my pedicure. They put the jar with the powder on a slanted shelf and it spilled all over the ground. I'm sure they do not want it go to go waste but they scooped it up off of the DIRTY floor back into the jr and proceed to put it on my nails! I've had to come back several times within days of my manicures to get 1 touched up because jr already chipped. They are rude to customers and each other. It's an awful experience over all and just keeps getting more expensive for no reason. read more

I had not been back to gomo in a long, long time - over a year - since my last experience was so "meh" - but on Friday I was pressed for time and in serious need of a polish change (no time for a full mani, even). By some miracle - even though gomo's was "hoppin'" busy they squeezed me in for a quick polish change and I even got 10 minutes of (just OK but so needed) chair massage while they dried. Big con: The "therapist" (and I use that term loosely) chatted in Korean the entire time she massaged me. Chattered LOUDLY. Not relaxing. Big pro: the older Russian lady who did my polish change clearly knows her stuff. She's been at Gomo's since they opened 19 years ago. read more

New fav nail spot in CC. I would only really go M-W when a mani/pedi is $40. First of all, massage city. Extensive leg and foot massage during the pedi using lavender oils THEN a hot towel neck massage while your nails dry. WHAAT? I couldn't believe it. They even clipped my hair up so it wouldn't be in the way. Give yourself some time when you go here. This isn't a salon that rushes you in and out (ahem, Nail Spa Bar). When I went for my mani/pedi I was there for nearly 2 (blissful) hours. Tips: - Call ahead or make an appointment. This is a nail salon that actually follows their appointment schedule, not just squeezes you in bc you claimed you made an appointment. I usually just call ahead to see if there's a wait. - Bring a few $$ for tip, they only will allow you to tip in cash. - Try to book with Sally, she did an amazing job! - Go M-W for $25 pedi. - Never look back. read more

I've been getting mani/pedi's on the regular since 1996, and from 1996 through 2006 I went to the same salon in DC. Now that I'm in Philly I'm in search of my next mani/pedi home base, and unfortunately I'm still searching. This place is about as close to a home base and I have right now, and the only thing that prevents it from being my bi-weekly go-to is the price. You get what you pay for in the world of mani/pedis, and this place delivers according to it's higher prices. My polish always lasts, and the key factor in coming here are the leg, foot, shoulder, back and head massages that come with your mani/pedi. I think the service may vary by technician, because after reading some of the other reviews I'm not sure the folks were at the same place I was. I only go to Sunny, and my service has only been stellar. read more

I used to go to Gomo's when I lived in Philly (until late 2011). I was back in town last week and stopped in for a regular pedicure and gel manicure. I was really disappointed that I'd wasted my money. The first problem is that this cost me $70 fricken dollars. I live in San Francisco - I'm accustomed to sticker shock. This is beyond ridiculous. Gel dryers and gel polishes do not cost enough to merit that kind of insane price tag. And what's worse is that the quality was not even remotely close to that of a $70 mani-pedi. The woman who did my nails definitely needs a new prescription, because she couldn't see the fibers that were drying into the nail polish, and she couldn't get the nail polish to cover from the end of the nail down to the cuticle (or anywhere near it). My cuticles were still a mess after she was done with them. I tried to give feedback along the way, but there are only so many times you can point out mistakes before you feel like a big meany. Finally, the polish was still tacky for hours and every fiber, fuzz, or piece of debris near my hands ended up on my nails and they looked horrific. So, yeah, I think the little, sweet Russian lady at Gomo's is just not the right manicurist if you must go there. But I wouldn't. read more
