Brad Warman of Brad's Concrete Shelton WA took $2800 deposit to install a cement driveway. He…read moreinitially was NOT legally licensed and I indicated I would not do business with him until he was legally licensed. Brad DID NOT do the job and will NOT return my $2800.00. As part of the discussion Brad indicated he does "all the work himself". That turned out to be a lie because he does NOT own the backhoe to do the work. I even tracked down a rental quote for a backhoe to get him to do the job and he still would NOT do the job. I have written documentation that Brad used the $2800 deposit for personal reasons and NOT to purchase materials or backhoe rental. I have written documentation Brad has used excuses of "his mother is in the hospital and it's not looking good" on two separate occasions several months apart as well as written documentation that Brad said "where I am at right now is trying to not lose my house". I reported his business to the BBB and he failed to respond to multiple BBB notices. Brad is a con and a liar. DO NOT GIVE HIM MONEY. BRAD DOES NOT OWN THE EQUIPMENT TO DO THE JOB.

How could is the workmanship, only time will tell. I was concerned about the lack of detail in the cleanup. Loose rocks scattered around the yard and along the walkway. The one that really got me was finding a chunk of concrete buried in a planting bed. I was not able to be around to hover over the workers as my wife would say, but it doesn't hurt. We are happy with the finished project and being able to wheel the lawnmower easily from the front to backyard, made it all worthwhile.

Fontaine completed a driveway for me recently, a conversion from a gravel drive. The concrete…read moreitself looks very nice (won't be able to judge how well it drains or wears for a while) and they were mostly great to work with - kept me informed of their schedule, came on time, worked hard, etc. Very nice guys. Cost was comparable to other estimates. Aside from the concrete itself, there are several problems. The biggest is that the new driveway is not at the level of the old one. It's a platform - 4" above ground level on one side and 8" above on the side towards the house. A danger and a liability, to say nothing of a several hundred dollar project now required to install steps and make the sides less hazardous and unattractive (Fontaine put some rock in along the sides when I complained, but it is ugly and needs additional work if it's to be permanent). I would have appreciated being informed beforehand, especially since I am 71 and have mobility issues - I did not need more steps. Ask lots of questions! They were also very hard on the surrounding vegetation, in spite of things we discussed beforehand, including an adjacent flower bed of my neighbors. They broke a large area out of a hydrangea, left small chunks of concrete and areas of concrete dust in my yard, apparently cleaned tools onto my parking strip leaving another little pile of concrete, and it appears they dumped some slurry down the storm drain (I bet that's illegal). They did not wear masks, even tho they are now a legal requirement.
