Very knowledgeable and great at explaining the "why's" throughout the fitting as well as afterwards any time I had follow up questions. And it was clear his goal was to get me into the best clubs for myself possible rather than ever recommending something just to get me to buy or spend the most. He'd be very honest and tell me if I did or did not need something and was patient throughout the process which led to me very confidently ending up with the right clubs. I'll certainly be back as my golf game evolves and would recommend Jamie to anyone.

But also realize a box store only has limited variations and they might not fit your swing. Matt fitted me and did a great job in finding what fit my swing unlike other box stores give you a club that you change your swing to make it work. Went back yesterday to double check my driver if it was correct after 3 months of lessons at GolfTec. Matt said all that was needed was to change the settings on the adapter and I didn't need a new head or shaft. Didn't try to sell me something I didn't really need. Honesty is rare in sales these days. Thanks Matt!

I went back to the gentleman that fitted me for my irons and my driver. I told him I wasn't sure I was getting the distance on my driver that I thought I should and wanted to make sure that the driver was set up properly. The gentleman that made my clubs, assisted me and checked my driver out and had me hit a few balls on the simulator and he made a few suggestions that worked quite well. I was able to take that to the course. For the first time in a long time I broke 90. I can't thank Club Champion enough and I can't thank the young man that helped me with my clubs and my driver. Thank you club Champion.

Here is a review after our foursome visited yesterday 8/22/24. But first, some background…read more Silverhorn has been in operation for over 3 decades, originally with design team including pro Scott Verplank. The course is nestled within a more upscale housing area, but also backing against the Wurzbach Parkway. Found close to the airport, landing passenger jets often cross the skies at lower altitudes, but the sound level is definitely not obtrusive compared to the takeoff and landing of jets at say, Randolph golf course. The golf course has changed ownership over the years, but the quality of the golfing experience has remained relatively constant. Find a contemporary clubhouse with a generous 19th hole, serving beverages and lunch items. My experience with scheduling our round was positive. The staff at the counter were welcoming, polite, and of good cheer. The driving range is spacious, with well marked targets at various distances: healthy grass was found underfoot during practice, but I also noticed mats should the grassy area be closed. Left of the clubhouse is a generous and well maintained putting green, which allows some chipping onto the green. Alas, there is not a sand bunker area for practice. One big disadvantage for the golfer, while the carts are of more recent purchase, they are NOT equipped with range finders. Given the extremes of heat in San Antonio in recent years, course conditions can suffer. But yesterday, after weeks of upper 90s to over 100 degrees, the fairways were among the best I have played, exceeding the fairways I played at the Hyatt Hill Country a few weeks ago. Think thick turf, with VERY few bare lies. The greens were excellent and of moderate speed, with healthy, nettlesome rough around the greens. In contrast to some previous commentary, the bunkers were well maintained, free of weeds, stones and with generous fill with sand: no hard pan hiding beneath a deceptively thin veneer of sand. Despite within the confines of the city, Silverhorn offers more of a hill country environment, with oak and some mesquite, with areas of woody rough lining every fairway. Deer crossed our paths many times during the round, munching their leaf salads, barely bothered by our presence. The course can be challenging, the errant shot often penalized by the woody surrounds. There are no significant elevation changes as may be found in the Northeast, on Colorado or Arizona courses, but rather some slightly elevated greens in play. Also find several dog legs, and some water in play. Off the tees, there are no forced carries, but on certain approach shots carries are required. The course is a fair test of golf skill, not with impossible scoring chances despite well placed shots. (I am channeling my experience at TPC here in San Antonio where shots hitting the greens would roll off the tilted and crowned greens on some holes.) Some previous reviewers have complained of the longer pace of play, and in truth, our round was of almost 5 hours, given a very slow group ahead. The marshal did encourage their pace, but the marshal was really not continually visible throughout our round otherwise. One major concern was the absence of drinking water stations, this despite the very hot clime we suffer here. We noticed the cart person twice during our round, a frequency we considered inadequate. Restroom facilities are of port-a-potties, (form your own opinion about this for male as well as the female golfer). There are no permanent restrooms that even the Alamo Golf Trail public courses have constructed. So the impression of the golf experience yesterday: definitely positive, with some provisos. Should one elect to visit, come prepared with your own range finder, a device that definitely aids club selection, and can definitely improve pace of play. Come prepared to pack an ice chest with cold beverage, given the lack of drinking water on the course. Come prepared to play appropriate tees, as errant shots are definitely penalized on this course. But also come prepared to enjoy a round on a course with very healthy fairways, well maintained bunkers, and exceptional greens. The course is definitely a cut above most of the courses on the Alamo golf Trail, but not as upper crust as La Cantera, TPC nor the Hyatt. Rounds of golf at Silverhorn require morning tee times of close to $80, compared to much lesser pricing at the Alamo Trail courses, but half those at the upper tier courses mentioned above. I think the course is offered at reasonable value for the experience. Would I recommend Silverhorn? Definitely! Enjoy Yelpers!!

They were patchy, discolored, and inconsistent, which made putting frustrating and took away from the overall experience. For that price point, you expect well-maintained greens, not something that looks like it hasn't been properly cared for. What makes it worse is that just last week I played at Mission del Lago Golf Course for around $50, and the greens there were in great shape. That just shows this isn't about unrealistic expectations--it's about value and upkeep. If the course is going to be in this condition, the pricing needs to reflect it. Charging premium rates while delivering subpar greens isn't justified. Don't come here! Save your time and money..
