The lighting setup in the evening is a huge plus too--it's one of the best spots around if you like practicing after work. Overall, it's a solid go-to spot in San Diego for consistent practice. The ball dispenser uses an app, which you can preload to get bonus credit. I never had any issues with it. I also never had any other issues while practicing here. So I didn't have a reason to interact with any of the staff. There's plenty of parking, even when it's busy. If they put up more shade then it would've met all of my needs.

I walked into the shop to buy some balls and the staff, although friendly, I could barely understand them. They directed me outside to the ball machine that was automated. It's really expensive. 50 balls for nine dollars. It's kind of outrageous. The mats are worn, and old I had to endure a golf lesson next to me and the woman brought her dog which barked the whole time which was absolutely ridiculous. No management of the practice area from the staff. I wanted to putt some balls, but people took it over with their kids. Again, no management from the staff. There was only 2 other people in the store working, and maybe 3 other customers. The staff that were actually working were very helpful, and helped my wife find the shoe she was looking for. I wasen't going to write a review, but we came in on a separate visit trying to get a duffle, the Same Manager was actually on the sales floor (surprise) and we had asked her if she could bring us one down one so we could look at it. She was right next to them, and instead called a younger employee to grab it down with some big stick that was by the front door. Why were we made to wait??? Why couldn't you do it??? I've seen stores that were going out of business with more attentive management. I advise going to the other big 5's as this one has poor customer service starting from the top!

I was fitted by Cale for a full bag fitting. Very thorough. I made over 250 swings in 2.5 hrs. We…read moretried pretty much anything and everything needed to get the proper fit. We even tried Lee Trevino's AutoFlex shaft. I wanted stock clubs. I did the fitting to help me choose the right clubs, stiffness, club length, grip size, etc., even though I cannot afford $7000 clubs; nor do I think I deserve this. Cale asked me my budget, which I told him around $3000. He kept to this amount and chose some great clubs for me. I have a Ping 430 Driver, a Ping SFT fairway wood, Ping 4 and 6 hybrids designed to give me height. I love them. My irons are TaylorMade, which includes 7i, 8i, 9i, and a Pitching Wedge. All with regular flex. Finally, Cale recommended a 52° Gap Wedge, 54° Sand Wedge, and a 60° Lob Wedge. I only chose the 54° Sand Wedge, which is okay. I may get the lob wedge later. I highly recommend this experience. Cale will work with you so that you can stay in your budget. He's also very friendly and interesting to talk to.

I live on the other side of the country where the closest True Spec is a multiple hour drive, and my clubs and family are in San Diego. After seeing the all 5 star reviews for this True Spec location, I booked a fitting with steve and a flight across the country for the same day to see family and get my club fitting. The next evening (the day before the fitting), Steve calls me to tell me he will have to cancel because of a water line break at the course out of his control. I was of course upset at this since I had just flown across the country to meet with what all reviews have stated is a phenomenal club fitter. Steve told me that the water line break is is out of his control, but I was still hopeful it would be fixed the by the next day as again, I had just flown across the country. I called the course the next morning (day of what was supposed to be my fitting), and was very eager to learn from the pro shop that the water line had been completely fixed and the whole range was back open. Now that it was no longer out of anyone's control, I contacted Steve to see if we would be back on for the booking I had already made. No phone answer, but texted me back to say that he planned to be offsite today after cancelling on me the day before. Frustrating way for the customer to have what is supposed to be a top notch business run this way instead of waiting to see if the water line was fixed and/or coming in once it was fixed for the originally booked appointment time, especially considering I told him the night before on the phone I flew across the country to get fitted with him specifically. Beware of late notice cancellation if planning on using this place, and the cancellation will stand even once there is no problem at the range. As excited as I was to use Steve at Tru Spec, I will be forced to ship my clubs back home and use a different company.

The selection also has gone downhill since they're always out of stock in certain sizes and I wait a couple weeks and still, no new inventory. The value is quite pricey for most things. I don't but certain brands from here since I know I can get the same thing at the outlets. I use to shop here more often but not as much now... it's just so different.
