Their rum cake OMG! I hate rum cake because I do not like soggy cake. Man this cake was served warm and you can smell and taste the rum, but it was not overpowering. I also had their goat stew and the red snapper dish. It was my first time and man everything was tasty!!! I will return! The service was impeccable! Note: This place only serves food. There is a bar onsite, but it is separate from the restaurant. I had a drink as well, and it also was good! I'm happy! read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE it's a scam, they charge me and then try to charge me again like.... then didn't let people in till 10:30 when before it was suppose to be free. Before 10:30 it was free but didn't let people in till 10:30 in order to charge them. read more

Good food. No fluff on this one. Not five star, but damn sure good! The service is always excellent. I mainly come here for when I'm in the mood for African cuisine and eats. Also, for an occasional happy hour too. The vibe is always chill and laid back, with a mix of diverse folks. The bar and lounge is currently under renovation, but looks like it's going to be really nice once completed and definitely a good weekend spot once the summer hits. Recommendations on the food is the Goat Suya, Fried Croaker dish, Egusi soup and always Jollof Rice. I'll pass on the Beef Suya. It's a bit salty and on the tough side for me the last few times I've tried it. Other than that, it's all good with Golf Ultra Lounge. A great place to meet up with friends, break from the normal spots around the DMV or just to grab a bite to eat. The food is available for inside dining and takeout....pickup, Uber Eats, Grub Hub, etc. read more

To begin, I heard many good things about this place as a lounge and decided to stop in for dinner (we are a family with young children). We went to Golf Ultra Lounge for dinner prior to COVID, so this review is for dine-in service before lounge hours. The only place to sit and eat besides the bar are the booths. We needed to wipe the area prior to settling in. The tables are on the smaller side, so it made eating a little difficult because of how far you needed to reach for your meal and the limited space to spread the dishes (Full disclosure, a child was present). The food was good. We ordered the double portion of Beef Suya, Egusi soup w/ fufu, and Jollof. I usually ask how the dishes are prepared because of the different styles. The waitress had to check in with the chef because apparently the preparation differs depending on who is cooking that day. She also spent most of the time at the bar with the two other customers, so our service wasn't as fast (considering the lounge was near empty). The portions were large and filling. The drinks were canned sodas, rather than drinks on tap. Lowered 2 stars because of cleanliness and customer service. read more

The food was decent and service was a little slow. We were the only people in the restaurant. I will say this make sure you get an itemized bill to make sure you're getting charged the correct price. All we got was a bill with the price on it. Other than the the Suya was good and you can get it in mild. Enjoy read more

We are charged an entrance fee on Wednesday, $10 for each... cool we pay it although nobody else on the same strip is charging to enter. However, I go to use the restroom and there's no soap. If you are charging me to enter.... $10 at that, please always have the necessities available. read more

The fufu and egusi was amazing. I knew better than to sit there and eat all that food but I did and I ended up sleep the rest of the night‍. I'll update this review when I'm able to experience the actual lounge. It was empty when I went. read more

I come here for egusi and fried fish with eba. Fast efficient easy to order online or over the phone. The dish is absolutely amazing always tastes great every time I've ordered it (about 8 mo at this point). My review is for this egusi ordering experience only. Seems to have a vibrant night life but I've not had the chance to try their club scene. read more

I came with a friend to a Caribbean party. This place is not one to dance in. It's very narrow! The drinks were normal priced $10-15 but there was a splash of alcohol, I'm sure my friend bought a $13 coke. There was no rum in that! But the music was great! Several DJ's and cute decor. read more

Went there on a Saturday night at at around 11. All I can say don't go there unless you're an 18 year old teenager who's gonna live stream the whole night, twerk & scream to every song, pay 20$ cover fee-oh and btw you can't re-enter if you step outside even for a second to get some fresh air lol read more

Came here today it was okay. Wasn't a lot of people in here. I ordered some beef suya and I have been waiting for my food. I ordered right after someone and they got they food. I been waiting..... service is okay. LALA took my order and that was that. Usually while waiting for food at the bar, bartenders ask if you would like water. I ended up getting a shot THAT MY FRIEND MANGO PAID FOR and been waiting since then. Today appears to be open mic with kids under 21 obviously. Anyways I ask MS LALA, How long was my food going to take, she ignored me and spoke to the guy I was with MANGO who works there Instead. I said well let me ask her again because I'm obviously tripping. She ignored me again and that's when things went left. We went back and forth over me asking her how long my food was going to take. It got loud and insults were thrown. Girl TRY AGAIN, talking to a customer. Ms lala was saying before our encounter that she was going to leave early because she wasn't making money and she makes more money babysitting. GIRL BYE. So babygirl, already had bad energy taking my order. I don't know what her problem is but she NEEDS to be fired for bad customer service. I been in the food/hospitality industry and it sucks that this is my first time here and I received this kind of service. It's endless lounges on Georgia Avenue, go elsewhere! If you want rude customer service. Oh yeah, the beef suya, it was delicious, I doubt I'll come back. But if I was to;I'll order takeout without the customer service. Hopefully the owners take actions on this poor behavior. read more

WARNING I usually like this place. Great music and good drink prices. But during my last visit things took a turn for the worst. I was harassed by the security and my drink was roofied, I will never come back. Ladies please be careful! read more

*Apparently this establishment has two entries on yelp, this is a repost of what I put on their Afrik Grill page* I ordered from this restaurant via EAT24 the night of JAN 16th and for starters, the delivery guy was not the brightest at all. He couldn't even get my address right although it was clearly provided, he was so bad, he got me confused. When I received the food, I wasn't impressed, looked like something someone just cooked it on the fly. It tasted ok, but not good enough for me to be a repeat customer after their RUDE waitress. I called ahead to simply ask what was in the jollof rice (any meats, etc) to understand the difference from white rice, her answer was "I don't know, I'm not the chef." She should certainly be fired, she put someone else on the phone who was very helpful after I asked him the very same question. they are known for their lack of customer service, but I didn't expect such blatant ignorance. Something needs to change or they'll close soon, their food is not good enough to go through all of this foolishness! You might see their coupon come through the mail I wouldn't go for it, it's not worth it at all. I see this janky establishment closing soon unless the nightly parties keep them afloat lol read more

I am still debating...I'm not sure about the place. The food, service, and just overall experience is not consistent.

You can look at my other reviews and see I am very hesitant to leave a bad one, but this place needs to be more respectful to it's patrons. The bartender was cool, but a nondescript bar-back with a cart and overzealous security with a flashlight pressured me to chug my drink or turn it over an hour before the door woman told me the place would close. It was an OK experience until folks approached me like I did something to them simply for still being there. I'd already closed my tab and tipped the bartender extra since she was professional, but I won't be back anytime soon unless they hire less aggressive clowns as bar backs and security. So 3 stars, but all for the bar staff and 0 for the rest of the people working in this ho. read more

The food is authentic and wonderful. I've yet to visit the brick and mortar, but have had their delivery. I ordered the Jollof rice, croaker fish, and plantain combo as well as the beef suya. The spices on the suya were almost reminiscent of the suya that I've ordered on the street side in Nigeria back in the day. The fish and plantain were great as expected, the spices were on point, and heat content excellent. The Jollof rice and croaker combo comes with a small packet of brown hot sauce that was absolutely delicious. The Cameroonian version of these certainly didn't disappoint. Their food can pack the heat, at least the dishes that I ordered did. But I have a high heat tolerance and love spicy food, so I'm not complaining, I'm complimenting. For those of you who could do with low heat levels, you can modify the spice level to your liking, just let them know when placing your order. I wanted to attach a picture of the food to my review but it was too good, and I was too hungry, to wait to eat. I highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting the establishment. Apparently they have events on the weekends. I also look forward to trying other things from their menu. Everything looks scrumdidlyumptious. Do note that the restaurant also goes by the name of "Afrik Grill." If you're ordering delivery through Eat24 like I did, you'll need to search for it under that name. read more

The place was ok. There was only one person working in the front. The food took a while to get to the table but it was actually pretty good. The rice was kind of on the cold side too though. I ordered a virgin martini i think...wasn't god at all. If the food was warmer and someone else worked with her in the front then maybe I would give them one more star. Also it didn't say anywhere on the menu that gratuity is included in the tab, but it was included when we got it...this place is Afrik Grill/Gold Ultra Lounge. I just wrote on here because more people are on this one. read more

We went there for what I think was African night and we had a blast!!! The dj was good he played African music and also some hip hop songs. The drinks were a but pricey I thought and the bathroom could be cleaner. It seems weird to me when I am paying almost 15 for a rum and coke and I can barely walk in the place not because it's crowded just because they don't have the square footage My biggest issue with this place is the size they have no room for people to dance that was a complete turn off because considering the type of music they were playing it's expected that people would be dancing and they just don't have the square footage for it (so -1 star for that). read more

Cassava leaves with beef and white rice so delicious. I'm glad to see them back open!

My first time at Golf Ultra Lounge great service and did not have to wait a whole hour for my food as I normally do when I go to a West African restaurant. Worst bar/ club/ excuse for an establishment. Over priced for absolutely nothing. Drinks.... $15.00, Cover..... they throw prices at you depending on their mood, $20. The people are not friendly, the service is deplorable. The music..... what music, more like pots and pans. You basically have to pay to even use the bathroom. Better off at your grandparents house. That app makes me choose a star rating, unfortunately it does not go into the negatives so i HAVE to give it a star..... -_- read more

It a cozy spot in Silver Spring that has well prepared and tasty African food. Whole spicy Tilapia, fried Yuka, black beans and greens to mention a few... were excellent . This restaurant is horrible!!! Cassava leaf had way to much oil and no taste. The soup had some tomato sauce that was unusual, and the Fufu was sticky. I did not enjoy the experience like I thought I would. read more

I'm African. I really enjoyed the music there. There were a lot of Africans so I loved that a lot. BUT! This place is very pricey. Customer service is really horrible. I came in with a friend and we planned on spending more that we actually did because service was disappointing. They kept some "reserved" for the entire night but nobody ever showed up. So we were left standing for like an hour. I planned on organizing a birthday there but now I'm doubting. Besides customer service, everything is fine. I'll think twice before going there read more

Great, and relatively quick service. I went there in the middle of the day and ordered the Poule DB with Jollof. A good deal

Great food!!! A much needed addition to the downtown Silver Spring area. I believe this is owned by Cameroonians, so some of the meals served will mostly have a Cameroonian spin on it, but it's well worth it. So far, I've tried the grilled tilapia w/sauce (a few times), suya (a few times, too lol), and jollof rice. The lounge area looks cozy, too, and they have events on weekends, but I'm yet to attend one. The guy who owns/runs it, is pretty friendly. The only reason I didn't give a perfect 5-stars is because their hours are a little off. So, I'd advice to call ahead. FYI: I think they're sometimes called Afrik Grille, too. read more
