Good food. No fluff on this one. Not five star, but damn sure good! The service is always excellent. I mainly come here for when I'm in the mood for African cuisine and eats. Also, for an occasional happy hour too. The vibe is always chill and laid back, with a mix of diverse folks. The bar and lounge is currently under renovation, but looks like it's going to be really nice once completed and definitely a good weekend spot once the summer hits. Recommendations on the food is the Goat Suya, Fried Croaker dish, Egusi soup and always Jollof Rice. I'll pass on the Beef Suya. It's a bit salty and on the tough side for me the last few times I've tried it. Other than that, it's all good with Golf Ultra Lounge. A great place to meet up with friends, break from the normal spots around the DMV or just to grab a bite to eat. To begin, I heard many good things about this place as a lounge and decided to stop in for dinner (we are a family with young children). We went to Golf Ultra Lounge for dinner prior to COVID, so this review is for dine-in service before lounge hours. The only place to sit and eat besides the bar are the booths. We needed to wipe the area prior to settling in. The tables are on the smaller side, so it made eating a little difficult because of how far you needed to reach for your meal and the limited space to spread the dishes (Full disclosure, a child was present). The food was good. We ordered the double portion of Beef Suya, Egusi soup w/ fufu, and Jollof. I usually ask how the dishes are prepared because of the different styles. The waitress had to check in with the chef because apparently the preparation differs depending on who is cooking that day. She also spent most of the time at the bar with the two other customers, so our service wasn't as fast (considering the lounge was near empty). The portions were large and filling. The drinks were canned sodas, rather than drinks on tap. Lowered 2 stars because of cleanliness and customer service. read more

The food was decent and service was a little slow. We were the only people in the restaurant. I will say this make sure you get an itemized bill to make sure you're getting charged the correct price. I ended up getting a shot THAT MY FRIEND MANGO PAID FOR and been waiting since then. Today appears to be open mic with kids under 21 obviously. Anyways I ask MS LALA, How long was my food going to take, she ignored me and spoke to the guy I was with MANGO who works there Instead. I said well let me ask her again because I'm obviously tripping. She ignored me again and that's when things went left. We went back and forth over me asking her how long my food was going to take. It got loud and insults were thrown. Girl TRY AGAIN, talking to a customer. Ms lala was saying before our encounter that she was going to leave early because she wasn't making money and she makes more money babysitting. GIRL BYE. So babygirl, already had bad energy taking my order. I don't know what her problem is but she NEEDS to be fired for bad customer service. I am still debating...I'm not sure about the place. The food, service, and just overall experience is not consistent.

You can look at my other reviews and see I am very hesitant to leave a bad one, but this place needs to be more respectful to it's patrons. The bartender was cool, but a nondescript bar-back with a cart and overzealous security with a flashlight pressured me to chug my drink or turn it over an hour before the door woman told me the place would close. It was an OK experience until folks approached me like I did something to them simply for still being there. I'd already closed my tab and tipped the bartender extra since she was professional, but I won't be back anytime soon unless they hire less aggressive clowns as bar backs and security. He couldn't even get my address right although it was clearly provided, he was so bad, he got me confused. When I received the food, I wasn't impressed, looked like something someone just cooked it on the fly. It tasted ok, but not good enough for me to be a repeat customer after their RUDE waitress. I called ahead to simply ask what was in the jollof rice (any meats, etc) to understand the difference from white rice, her answer was "I don't know, I'm not the chef." She should certainly be fired, she put someone else on the phone who was very helpful after I asked him the very same question. they are known for their lack of customer service, but I didn't expect such blatant ignorance. Something needs to change or they'll close soon, their food is not good enough to go through all of this foolishness! You might see their coupon come through the mail I wouldn't go for it, it's not worth it at all. I see this janky establishment closing soon unless the nightly parties keep them afloat lol read more

The place was ok. There was only one person working in the front. The food took a while to get to the table but it was actually pretty good. The rice was kind of on the cold side too though. I ordered a virgin martini i think...wasn't god at all. If the food was warmer and someone else worked with her in the front then maybe I would give them one more star. Also it didn't say anywhere on the menu that gratuity is included in the tab, but it was included when we got it...this place is Afrik Grill/Gold Ultra Lounge. The food is authentic and wonderful. I've yet to visit the brick and mortar, but have had their delivery. I ordered the Jollof rice, croaker fish, and plantain combo as well as the beef suya. The spices on the suya were almost reminiscent of the suya that I've ordered on the street side in Nigeria back in the day. The fish and plantain were great as expected, the spices were on point, and heat content excellent. The Jollof rice and croaker combo comes with a small packet of brown hot sauce that was absolutely delicious. The Cameroonian version of these certainly didn't disappoint. Their food can pack the heat, at least the dishes that I ordered did. But I have a high heat tolerance and love spicy food, so I'm not complaining, I'm complimenting. For those of you who could do with low heat levels, you can modify the spice level to your liking, just let them know when placing your order. I wanted to attach a picture of the food to my review but it was too good, and I was too hungry, to wait to eat. I highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting the establishment. Apparently they have events on the weekends. I also look forward to trying other things from their menu. Everything looks scrumdidlyumptious. We went there for what I think was African night and we had a blast!!! The dj was good he played African music and also some hip hop songs. The drinks were a but pricey I thought and the bathroom could be cleaner. It seems weird to me when I am paying almost 15 for a rum and coke and I can barely walk in the place not because it's crowded just because they don't have the square footage My biggest issue with this place is the size they have no room for people to dance that was a complete turn off because considering the type of music they were playing it's expected that people would be dancing and they just don't have the square footage for it (so -1 star for that). read more

I'm African. I really enjoyed the music there. There were a lot of Africans so I loved that a lot. BUT! This place is very pricey. Customer service is really horrible. I came in with a friend and we planned on spending more that we actually did because service was disappointing. They kept some "reserved" for the entire night but nobody ever showed up. Food was good I got the casava leafe it wasn't spicy at all and I asked for very spicy so when I got home I added two scotch bonnet pepper and squished it all up in there I've had better casava leafe I felt like it was a bit to salty I also ordered suya beef that was very very good my first time having it..the jollof rice didn't like that much it tasted plain compare to other jollof rice I tasted but all in all I will be back to try other things on the menu I'm a foodie :) read more

Great food!!! A much needed addition to the downtown Silver Spring area. I believe this is owned by Cameroonians, so some of the meals served will mostly have a Cameroonian spin on it, but it's well worth it. So far, I've tried the grilled tilapia w/sauce (a few times), suya (a few times, too lol), and jollof rice. The lounge area looks cozy, too, and they have events on weekends, but I'm yet to attend one. The guy who owns/runs it, is pretty friendly. The only reason I didn't give a perfect 5-stars is because their hours are a little off. So, I'd advice to call ahead. FYI: I think they're sometimes called Afrik Grille, too. read more

As far as African restaurants go, this is bi by far my favorite! I will live and die on cassava leaves, so naturally that is what I order most often. However, the tilapia is delicious! There is this sauce that comes with the tilapia and you MUST put that on the tilapia to enhance your eating experience. My friend ordered Jolof rice and I had to eat off of her plate too. The owner is super nice and the atmosphere is very relaxed. It's like going to your aunt's house for a meal. The music is also on point. read more
