Wow! What a fun spot. They have a nine hole "foot golf" course (A cross between soccer/football and…read moregolf), an inflatable human foosball game where you hold onto ropes and pretend to be foosball figurines. They are even thinking about adding this very cool pitch and put course using cushy stress balls (I hope they do it because that will certainly be a blast). Their conventional put-put course is very basic, but they make it a lot of fun by adding optional rules you can choose to follow at each hole, for a more challenging, social version of mini-golf. For example, one hole comes with a blindfold, and your partner is responsible for aiming you. On another hole, you take your first stroke by dropping your ball in a PVC pipe. On the first hole you have to play with a tiny half a meter long putter and on the last hole you roll a dice, and if you score higher than the dice you have to add that number to your score, and if you score lower you get to subtract that number (this can swing the competition by many strokes making it feel like everyone is still capable of winning until the end). While the greens are very basic they do have a bunch of slopes, so the course isn't as easy as it looks. Now if you are looking for trendsetting put-put with all the fancy mini-architecture, then this probably isn't the place for you, but if you want a fun unconventional set of games this is the place. The couple that runs the place is super nice. This is definitely a huge find for those who live nearby. On Saturdays, a food truck market sets up next door. Hitting up the good food adds to the fun.

Putt Putt seems to be an activity that has followed me my entire life. I remember vividly playing…read more weekly rounds of ultra competitive Putt Putt with my family on the Gold Coast as a kid. Since moving the Brisbane Putt Putt has since fallen off my radar... until now! A friend of mine recommended we go to Victoria Park (up near Kelvin Grove) and play some night Putt Putt for a bit of fun. Intrigued by the proposal I agreed and we made our way there around 7 o'clock that night. Initially I was a bit nervous that the repressed, competitive, Putt Putt demon within would bare all seven of its malevolent heads, however these concerns were soon alleviated due to the low admission fees and the presence of alcohol, which can be purchased and consumed legally on the course. Also, I was honestly relieved to notice that the majority of the people there were younger adults doing something a bit different with their Friday night. There were indeed kids and families around but they became adorable accessories to the evening, as opposed to tiresome obstacles. The course itself was in fact a lot of fun. Though there are no gimmicky windmills or miniature rollercoaster-things, the course still proved to be very entertaining. Each hole has three different levels of difficulty; so all players can still have a good time. Being the competitive psychopath that I am I insisted we play on the top-level of difficulty, which proved to be mostly accomplishable (all those years of competitive Putt Putting paid off). The entire experience was genuinely a lot of fun! I'm even sure I would of managed to have a good time even if I didn't win, which I did. Victoria Park is definitely a great way to break the mold and do something different with your mates around Brisbane. Though inevitably we all end up back in Fortitude Valley, Victoria Park Putt Putt is definitely worth a gander.

Putt Putt is definitely one of those things best done with a small group. Yesterday, I had my first…read moreattempt at putt putt and I have to say it is so much fun! I highly recommend if you are up for something a little different. You can of course, purchase alcohol as you make your way around the course. It has the potential to make the last few holes rather interesting. From selecting a stick that feels 'lucky', to taking that first nerve racking swing and everyone getting a bit competitive towards the end, it is genuinely a fun day. Girls, wear flat shoes and take a shoulder bag that won't get in the way. Holding a putter, a glass of wine, your ball and your bag can be a bit of a challenge otherwise!

First I must say, I am far from an expert golfer, in fact I think I can count on both my hands how…read moremany times I"ve played and still have a few fingers left over. Having said that Nudgee College Golf Club is perfect for people like me. The course is mainly flat and fairly straight forward in its design allowing you to focus on getting the ball onto the fairway. The condition of the course is far from perfect, the greens are a little rough and the facitilities are fairly basic so don't go expecting this to be an international calibre course. As a beginner though I find this less intimidating as I worry less if I cause a divot in the fairway or end up with a ball in the sandtrap. It's user friendly and great for a social round of golf. I also love that its only 9 holes so our enthusiasm hasn't waned by the finish but we've been at it long enough to still give our swing a work out. The staff are always friendly and as an added bonus the club tends to have vouchers on Scoopon quite reguarly which means great deals for a 2 or 4 person round including cart hire and a beer at the end. They do have basic clubs for hire or BYO. There is also opportunities to get lessons and from $10 for a ladies session and weekend group options (plus kids clinics too) they are a great option for someone starting out their golfing career. It's important to note the 9 hole golf course attached to St Joseph's college, not to be confused with Nudgee Golf Course which is where your GPS is likely to take you when you go looking for this place the first time :-)
