The course, complete with licenced club house, is 9 holes of golfing fun. The Albany Links Golf Club is probably more renowned for the 18 hole mini putt-putt course on site which is only $28 for a family - so cheap for a fun filled morning/afternoon! My kids love playing putt-putt, it is a lot of fun for a small price which can be hard to find these days.

The place itself has a proper 9 hole golf course that's spread out on a pretty large area. You can even hire electric buggies to take you from hole to hole. We went there on a Saturday afternoon, around 1pm, and it wasn't very crowded at all. At around 2pm a larger group came and by 3pm there were a fair amount of people all over the place. If you're an amateur then I'd suggest going there early (before noon) for the 9 holes course as you won't feel rushed. It's interesting that the golf links themselves are located behind a restaurant. The carpark separates the links from the restaurant. No booking necessary for the gold links unless you're going to get one of the buggies. The staff were friendly and seemed willing to give you advice. I didn't spot a kitchen as such so there may not be a place to get food within the golf course. However, you can always go to the restaurant and get something to eat there.

All holes bar one are par 3 and only two have serious water hazards to contend with. It's the perfect place for a practice particularly as an inexperienced golfer and lovely just for a leisurely walk. The rain of this winter has meant the fairways are lovely and lush and the greens are in quite good condition. A round starts from $13 depending on the day of the week you play. Be warned late afternoon play does require some bug spray and will have you playing into the sun for the last 3 holes. No golf carts, but they do have walking carts for your bag for hire.

The Wantima Country Club golf course at Albany Creek is great. The club features an 18 hole golf course, club house with dining room and poker machine area, a large function room, pro shop, driving range, putting green, tennis courts, cricket oval and recreational grounds. The club often has specials and currently you can get two rounds of golf and buggy hire for just $75! The club meals are very affordable and pretty tasty, nothing too special but very good value - like most suburban sports clubs, you can get a roast meal complete with all the trimmings for under $10 - bargain.

First I must say, I am far from an expert golfer, in fact I think I can count on both my hands how…read moremany times I"ve played and still have a few fingers left over. Having said that Nudgee College Golf Club is perfect for people like me. The course is mainly flat and fairly straight forward in its design allowing you to focus on getting the ball onto the fairway. The condition of the course is far from perfect, the greens are a little rough and the facitilities are fairly basic so don't go expecting this to be an international calibre course. As a beginner though I find this less intimidating as I worry less if I cause a divot in the fairway or end up with a ball in the sandtrap. It's user friendly and great for a social round of golf. I also love that its only 9 holes so our enthusiasm hasn't waned by the finish but we've been at it long enough to still give our swing a work out. The staff are always friendly and as an added bonus the club tends to have vouchers on Scoopon quite reguarly which means great deals for a 2 or 4 person round including cart hire and a beer at the end. They do have basic clubs for hire or BYO. There is also opportunities to get lessons and from $10 for a ladies session and weekend group options (plus kids clinics too) they are a great option for someone starting out their golfing career. It's important to note the 9 hole golf course attached to St Joseph's college, not to be confused with Nudgee Golf Course which is where your GPS is likely to take you when you go looking for this place the first time :-)
