So I'm not a golfer. Not at all. But I enjoyed it and this place is good for beginners (and those…read moreintermediate and advance people too, of course). There are nine holes in total but you can play 18, you'll just have to repeat the course. Not that that's a bad thing particularly if you're starting out. Non members are welcome. We had a voucher for a round of golf but since we had an extra person we only paid $14 for them. We also had their fish and chips and it was massive. You get two pieces of fish, some salad and chips. It may not sound like much but it was. If you are a beginner like us, then I strongly recommend getting there early, around 11am. We had the course to ourselves for about 2 hrs before others started coming. So we were able to learn how to hit the ball and such. If it gets a little crowded and you're a slow golfer, it's best to let the faster ones ahead of you just so you don't feel rushed and so that they can go on with their game. There is a dress code, the minimum standard is: shoes, socks, tailored shorts and collared shirt. Be sure to bring a hat and sunscreen too and water to keep you hydrated.

I've played here quite a few times over the years and for anyone looking for a very very casual hit…read morethen this could be the place to try. As golf courses go this place is incredibly small compared to other places around Brisbane. Imagine a really big pitch and putt. Mostly Par 2's and 3's this course is great for beginners or maybe anyone wanting to practice their short game. No need to bring a driver, we comfortably got around the course with just a Pitching Wedge, 7 Iron and a putter. They are a lot more relaxed about their dress code than most places. Just make sure you don't wear board shorts and thongs.

As an avid golfer - and reasonable hack - I'm always on the hunt for golfing deals that are…read morevalue-for-money. After all, even community courses these days aren't the cheapest when it comes to playing 18 holes, and when you add in travel, lost balls, tees and that all-important stop at the 19th hole, well, let's just say I like to "play it save!" - every pun intended! I first had a hit at Ashgrove Golf Club a few years ago and was immediately impressed by the greens and fairways on this challenging, yet forgiving course. It's conveniently located off Waterworks Road and is really located in The Gap, so how it came to be known as Ashgrove Golf Club is anyone's guess. However, what's in a name at a golf course is something we care less about than being able to enjoy a swinging good time, and that's exactly what you'll find if you go. Visitors pay just $29 for 18 holes and score a motorised cart from Monday-Wednesday, or $27 without the cart. Weekend and holiday play is $32 (without a cart) and if you're lacking either clubs or shoes, don't worry - you can hire them from the club. The idyllic surrounds of the course, which is located only 8km from Brisbane's CBD, is located at the base of the Taylor Range and is covered by lush vegetation and tall trees that come into play on almost every hole. The course layout is easy enough for a pull cart, and once your play is over you can flip for bragging rights with a coldie at the Outlook Bistro while watching others tackle the 18th.

With an abundance of native flora and fauna the golf course creates the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed social or corporate gathering. The club welcomes new members, visitors, social players and is ideal for corporate days or non golf functions.
