During the sales process, they were great and creative, but once the contract was signed, their real face was reviled. They had staff attrition, the person we worked with during the pre-sales left, and they didn't bother to tell us. At that point, we should have terminated the agreement. - They completed a one month project in 4 months - The quality of the work was terrible. They didn't measure many things accurately; some cabinets were damaged when they were delivered, and some cabinets cracked before the project was even completed. - They promised to manage the project, and they did none of that - They ruined our hardwood floor and refused to fix it. - Leslie who ended up leading the project was rude to other vendors and us and not attentive to details at all (she didn't even come to see the completed product) When we started working with their team, we found out that every vendor they contracted with to complete the work had complaints about them. We chose to work with them because of the great review on Google and the pre-sales. Don't believe these positive reviews and stay away from this company.

He's communicative, prompt, and always takes the time to walk me through his process in a clear, respectful way. So far, he's helped us carefully demo plaster in our 100+ year-old home, honoring our request to preserve as much of the good plaster as possible. He also meticulously removed the vinyl siding to reveal the beautiful original cedar shake and lap siding underneath, which we can now restore. He's friendly, easy to work with, and makes thoughtful recommendations without ever making me feel pressured or steered toward something that isn't right for us or our budget. It's been a huge relief to have someone we can trust on a project like this. Highly recommend!

So if someone made him mad, I can't imagine the lengths that they went to to get him there. But quite honestly, that's beside the point. The trims and moldings that his operation turns out are world class. There's a true reason that his clients include some of the areas most notable construction outfits. He doesn't have to sell his work to individuals like myself, heck I just picked up an order that was $95 for a few pieces I needed to finish up a project. The first order was only a few hundred bucks. I'm more than happy that he and his family run their business the way they do (no order too small, selling to individuals like me). I love working with them simply because it is so easy, and he's super patient with me (I'm no pro) so sometimes it takes a few trips for me to get all the info he needs and he's never been nothing but professional to me. This is truly a five star operation, with 5 star product, period. If your looking to step up your projects you'd do good to do business with Smokey Mtn.

I ordered 130' of baseboard and shoe moulding, for $350. They called me to let me know the order was ready, and at 4pm I left work early to pick it up. I showed up at 4:30 to a locked door, no cars, and a sign on the front saying "open from 8am - 5pm". Obviously, I was a little put off by that, but what else to do but leave and go home. Hour wasted. I showed up this morning and told them what happened. I expected, at a minimum, some apologies, but really I think a few dollars off the order would've been appropriate. What I got was Gerald screaming at me, and telling me to get into my car while approaching me red faced angry. Here's the conversation (as I remember it - I understand that I'm biased) that triggered this response: Me: If it was up to me I would leave, but my wife says we need this order. I can't believe this mess. G: Well it's not my fault the sign is wrong Me: Well it's not MY fault! (btw, HOW is it not his fault - he's the owner!) At this point he grabbed a bundle of wood off the top of the car, said he wouldn't work with me, yelling and telling me to leave. Once I got in the car he slammed it shut and told me to get out. His words and body language made it clear he was as furious as you can get. I didn't stand there refusing to leave, I was ready to get out of there. His daughter shooed him away and made every attempt to remedy the situation - I did end up buying the wood (I did NOT want to, but I'm under a tight deadline, not much choice). Oh I forgot to mention that Gerald's wife was also a part of this - telling me "I'd better leave, he's upset" and when I said "An apology was all that was needed" she said "I'm not sorry!" - which I believe! So that was my experience. I hope yours is better - or that you shop somewhere else.
