I was told one thing at sign up and when it came time to cancel the service was told something completely different. So I recently cut the tendon on my left thumb and need surgery this week. I've been making such great progress at my home gym, but unfortunately, I won't be able to use my arm for three months which means no upper body at all. My home gym is not equipped with very good leg equipment so I decided to come check out Gold's gym to get a three month membership. Upon arriving, I met with Troy at the front desk. He was so helpful and understanding of my injury and just a great person to talk to. I walked in today planning to only get three months and then quit, but after all the help from Troy and how great he made me feel at this place. I'm deciding to sign up for a year contract. The leg options are almost endless. If you have no use of your arms, I'm super excited to see what kind of progress My legs will get in the next year. Huge thank you to Troy. Golds Gym in Smyrna is full of broken equipment and staff/leadership that could care less about upkeep. Literally asleep on the job as you can see from pics and videos. Don't waste your money here. Get much higher quality for similar price at Murfreesboro Athletic club. Neither the staff or the owners care about quality service or equipment and it really shows everywhere. read more

Great gym as far as the equipment goes. However, the corporation is a joke as far as cancellation and customer service goes. I moved out to TN for work thinking I'd be there awhile but later was sent back home for my career. Long story short, they wouldn't allow cancellation by phone so I sent them their required certified mail cancellation; fast forward 8 months and they continued to charge me. Every time I contacted them they said that it will be canceled and I'd be refunded. read more

I have been a member of Gold's in Smyrna, TN since the sign-ups were outside in the parking lot. This is the place I decided to call home when I chose to complete my weight-loss journey and begin my new healthy lifestyle. I learned a lot, and gained real true family members. Egocentric in that I swore my gym was the absolute best gym hands down. The atmosphere was like nothing I had ever experienced, and I was in love. I'm not sure what happened (new manager, no staff, etc) but this place looks, smells and feels like it has been overtaken by a foreign army of vikings and all that is left are the former inhabitants that just have no where else to go until they die. Nearly all of the equipment is broken in some for or fashion and forget about it just taking a little while to be fixed because it never will. I never knew women could be so gross, but the locker room is almost uninhabitable starting with the smell. The cardio center was removed, and it wasn't for me, I'm and pure iron type of girl, its just that this seems to be when the gym really lost its flare. That safety hazardous tear has been in that turf for years and it is only getting bigger. Us original people adhered to the rules out of pure class with no enforcement. Now, the shorts on half of these women may as well just be underwear and it is plain nasty. I once saw vagina lips and was horrified. I took a long hiatus after that one. Gold's Smyrna just doesn't feel like 'home' anymore. My husband and his friends left and have to strain to make it to a farther gym in murfreesboro just to remain fit. It's ridiculous. We keep our memberships purely out of nostalgia and if ever it just gets too bad for us to make it farther that morning. But even this money is just a waste. And they have the audacity to increase fees? I think I'm more heartbroken than anything. It literally feels like I'm homeless. I miss my family (everyone is gone) and I miss my home. I hate that it looks and smell so bad now. When people finally do join after I asked them years ago, now I feel embarrassed. One friend actually said to me, "is this the place you've been raving about all these years? JESUS!" Sadenned. My husband's answer to this survey was a hard no. It's 24/7 so it's very convenient for me I go workout around 2 a.m I've never had issues there, solid gym overall.

Don't waste your time or money. Their ads for $10/mo with no contract are complete BS. They'll misrepresent themselves and get you to sign up for a year contract when you think you're only going month to month. The gym is constantly crowded with the stereotypical 'meat head' type bodybuilder wannabe guys. Their locker room is a joke. Most of the lockers are falling off hinges. They had one usable shower, and what appears to be a constant AC leak in the shower area. Do yourself a favor. Look elsewhere. read more

This place has put me through complete hell! I did not want to even give them a one star, but it was required for me to make this review. I was taken advantage of, lied to, manipulated by this Gym. When I first signed up, I picked the package that was $14 a month. I paid a one time fee of $39.99 to join. Everything was VERY clear about how much I would be paying and when payment was due. It even said it on advertisement at the gym. So...Flash forward to a couple weeks later: I get an email from Gold's gym, saying my payment was declined. I just made my monthly payment two weeks prior to the email. So I was confused. Thinking it was just a mistake. So, I went up to the gym in person a couple days later. I was meeting my friend that drove over an hour to come hang out. I walk in, I asked - why am I being charged two weeks early? I was then informed that payment was EVERY TWO WEEKS! Wait, what?! No. That's not what was discussed when I joined. I was told $14.00 monthly, NOT every two weeks! The employee (young male) tried explaining that's not how it works there. That I was mislead! What?! I could not believe what I was hearing! I was also informed that my payment was $16.00 every two weeks. I was charged over $60.00 that day, because of late fees! Unbelievable! I argued with him that I would have never become a member there if I had to pay, pretty much $32 a month!! I voiced my opinion and nothing was done about it. He acted as if everything was my fault and I was "mislead". I asked to speak to the manager. Said manager was not there and he was in charge! I couldn't believe this crap. I felt pressured to just end the argument, pay the $60.00+ my friend was waiting on me, I wouldn't be able to use the gym if I didn't pay. I was serious about working out since I had a fitness pageant coming up. I paid in cash since the money wasn't on my card. I sent them an email after this, never heard anything back. Even tried talking to other employees and no help. I was still in the wrong! Wow! I tried letting it go and just focus on my training but every time I would go in that place, my resentment grew stronger for what they did to me. I ended up finding out I was pregnant. Doctor said no working out during the first three months. So at that point, I wouldn't even be using the gym, as they would still be charging my card. I couldn't think of the thought of them getting one more penny from me! - After I was LIED to, manipulated, taken full advantage of, just to get me to join there! So, I wrote an email, told them everything, said I was never coming back and to cancel my membership! They asked to call me, I said ok, never gotten one phone call from them. I put $50.00 on my cars for my phone bill, kept saying declined. I go listen to my recent transactions, Gold's gym has tried charging my card 22 times!! It was a big amount and more than I had on my card, so they kept getting declined. $1.00 is taken out of my account every time a transaction is made. So that 22 times they got declined, $22.00 was taken out! $22 down the drain!!!! They thought to try a smaller amount, because - recent transactions said they finally got through with a charge of $28! They EMPTIED my account out and couldn't even pay my phone bill that night. I was also charged $25 extra in late fees since that day was the deadline. I called sent another email, extremely upset! I told them this was NOT ok after I told them to cancel my account from being basically SCAMMED! They don't care! These people lie to you, just to get customers, they will rob you blind, regardless if you find out they lied and scammed you! I am still getting letters in the mail, being threatened if I don't make my payments & late fees, it will go to a collection agency! Wow!!! They continue to charge me til this day. I don't even put money on that card anymore. They will NEVER get another penny from me! These people are con-artists! They lie to you, manipulate, then get you to sign papers so you can't do anything! I have never been so disrespected in my life! read more

I was a member of Golds in another town years ago and it was much like that then but this is so much more ego stoking, mirror flexing, ape behavior. Really just over the top if you don't have a huge ego or don't place a lot of importance on appearances. A gym is first and foremost about health.... or so I thought. If you are an ape looking to find a mate or to distinguish yourself in the troop of other apes, this may be just the place for you. Nice, clean facility, friendly staff, and a great selection of equipment. The only reason why I can't give a 5 star review is because for $60 a month, you would hope to be able to take a hot shower after working out. Cold showers during the summer there were not too bad, but during the middle of winter it's not so fun. Facility is nice with nice equipment. Can get crowded at peak hours. My main complaint are the personal trainers that hound you everyday to sign up for sessions. It's getting to the point where I want to withdraw my membership. I work all day and have only a little time to workout so I like to get in and out. I get approached at least once a week by either the same guy or different ones. If I want a trainer I will let you know. Please stop harrassing people!! read more
