I appreciate the downtown Chattanooga Golds gym. In the early morning it is not crowded. It is just right!

if there could be zero stars that would be the choice. Downtown Golds Gym has been without AC for years. They charge a premium for the same as working out in your garage. What a horrific management team! You would think that the GG franchise would care about such poor management, but I guess they are checked out as much as the local management is. it's over 90 in the gym now. what a crap place! find any other gym in chattanooga. or just work out in your unconditioned garage it's actually probably better than this crap hole. The gym is great. The sperate workout training was great at first then it became issues trying to meet with trainer like a conflict with scheduling but I still have to pay every week. I had to cancel memebership then they tried to keep getting more money from me after cancellation. read more

The variety of equipment is nice..when it works. There is equipment that has been broken for literally 3 months (hip abductors). Today I couldn't find any pins for several of the cable stations, and there were no hooks fo the different handles to be attached. I brought this up to the man working the desk and they didn't act like anything was wrong. Month later nothing has changed. read more

One star is appropriate. These guys were unfriendly and not willing to even listen to concerns. There were hidden fees that weee never expressed. We had to come three times just to find someone that would allow us to cancel our membership. The AC wasn't working and they didn't care when I expressed it was way too hot to run. I was getting older and qualified for free gym membership.I was offered free training after I stopped going.That went well for a while.Two men named Justin introduced themselves as being associated with the company originally started in California.The one,younger was coming off like he had me on a salesman lead list.I refused to pay on a card they could lay charge to.At maybee retaliation for this,me protecting my assets I was reassigned to the other Justin and older man but tall lean muscular and example the other guy didn't have 1 St guy had never let himself go the older one was more of a draw cause he showed you could keep yourself in shape through regular specific excersizes.it all came down to a pressure campaign to sign a new contract that would let me be trained 8 to ten times a month as opposed to 2 times a month,I estimated they thought they had me addicted to the routine and the bump in cost for me would be a new bill of between $400 to a thousand a month plus trainer tips.Both men had their relationship with me terminated.Maybee it wasn't gold's policy,maybee the workers did it. read more

Golds is the best gym in the area for pretty much anyone with fitness goals of any kind. Moved here almost 2 years ago. My husband and I both frequent the Lee hwy location, but can go to Hixson if we like. It's ~ $50 a month for both of us combined. Also a very friendly atmosphere. We do our own thing but. Trainers seem to really enjoy their jobs and people working with trainers seem to really enjoy it as well. read more

Got a day pass here while visiting from out of state. Was afraid because of the reviews, but they had everything i needed. Wade was a really nice guy at the front desk. No complaints. I go to this Gold's only because there's nothing else in the area that I would describe a a a complete gym. The place is filthy, especially the bathrooms. The equipment is not maintained. If something breaks, just consider it gone forever. You'll be lucky if it actually gets restored to full working condition. AC units have gone out the late couple of Summers. Even when they are working properly they go cheap on running the AC. I'm not asking for it to be ice cold, but I shouldn't soak through two towels while there. This place better get its act together, or once the new Crunch Fitness opens up in Spring of 2024 at Hamilton Place mall, you're going to see a MASS exodus. read more

GOLDS GYM, CHATTANOOGA - LEE HWY LOCATION** We are so very thankful for the manager Kraig French and the amazing staff at the Lee Highway location. My daughter had an issue with the Downtown location and was being given the run around, costing her money in the process. The Lee Highway staff took the time to listen to her situation and provided the service (the same service that SHOULD have been provided by the downtown staff) she needed to get her issue resolved. LEE HIGHWAY LOCATION SOLVED A PROBLEM IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES THAT THE DOWNTOWN LOCATION COULD NOT GET RESOLVED FOR OVER A WEEK!!! My daughter still had to pay the fees that had already been taken from her bank account. Our complaints/issue were not about the money at all, it was about someone taking the time to listen to what she had to say and offering a resolution. I would not give the staff at the downtown location even 1 star as they are rude and have no clue what they are doing. read more

I am overweight. Let's be honest. I have been working out consistently for about 2 weeks. It's perfect for beginners like me as there is a lot of cardio equipment! I would like to eventually get into weightlifting etc. The ONLY reason I am only giving it 3 stars is due to cleanliness. The bathroom toilets are disgusting, and not everyone wipes their equipment off. I was there yesterday and 2 ppl I thought were clean, regulars, did NOT wipe their equipment off after and I thought that was disgusting. I only wish they would regulate that more especially with Covid right now. I don't have the galls to tell someone "hey wipe ur equipment off wtf", but it blows my mind how little people care about cleanliness. read more

One star is too high. These guys are criminals.... Do not join and go elsewhere. They have been charging me for membership 2.5 years after I quit in person. They deliberately won't provide or lose documentation and give a big runaround about quitting your club ( my contract was over). Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I quit going to this gym when covid hit, and while they were closed under city/county orders, I was still charged my usual fees because I signed a contract. Whatever, I dealt with it. When it opened back up, I tried coming back, but after seeing that the mask rule wasn't being enforced, I decided I would not come back since I work in healthcare and didn't want to risk my health or the health of my patients, and decided to wait out my time until I could cancel. After cancelling today, I was told I had to pay a cancellation fee of $61 due to not giving them a 30 day notice, which was not communicated when I called before having to come in. So, I have payed them a few hundred dollars while not using the facility due to lack of enforcement of the mask policy and others not properly cleaning equipment. read more

The classes at this Gold's are a staple for my fitness. Instructors Maria and Greg are fantastic! I hope the team continues to grow so they can offer more spin, body pump, (and maybe even yoga or body flow) classes at different times throughout the afternoon. read more

I was ready to sign up today after redeeming my one day free pass and pay my membership up for the whole year but your rude bias workers has it in their heads I just wanted a free day and would not let me redeem my free pass. MEMBER BEWARE! My complaint is not about the gym itself its a great gym, as long as you never plan on cancelling your membership. I do not live near this gym but had purchased a membership while I was working in the area. However when the coronavirus outbreak first occurred, I lost my job in this area and so promptly called Gold's Gym to cancel. They said I had to come to the gym in person to cancel. I said I did not live in the area. They said then the only way they would accept my cancellation request was for me to send them a 'certified letter' that they wanted me to send right in the middle of the pandemic first hitting where many people were dying. Most businesses were closed. These were all clearly hoops they were making me jump through deterring me from cancelling SO THEY COULD GET THEIR MONEY. No compassion that I had lost my job or any sort of 'flexibility' whatsoever with their cancellation process. This gym was all about the money, even in the midst of a pandemic. They are clearly profits over people. So I had no other option to cancel my membership other than to pay my bank $35 to stop payment on Gold's Gym from drafting my account. I have excellent credit and Gold's Gym was paid in full when I had called to cancel my membership. However this gym CONTINUED to bill me even after I called to tell them I had lost my job due to covid and needed to cancel. Even after I was forced to do a stop payment at my bank, this gym STILL continued to bill me. I started getting threatening letters about them reporting me to collections if I didn't pay my past due bills, albeit I was only past due because they KEPT billing me even after I called to cancel. Then they told me that even if I sent in their certified letter to cancel, that they would not accept my cancellation request until I paid for the months that they kept billing me (after I had called to cancel). Can someone say UNREASONABLE? They only cared about their member dues, not the member. They had no compassion with me losing me job and certainly no social responsibility asking me to go out in public to mail them certified letter to cancel, all while people were dying left and right. I will never go to this gym again now that I know how their administration treats members. Other gyms accepted a cancellation right over the phone, not this one! I just learned that they did in fact turn me into collections attempting to collect months of billing that they were hell bent to receive, in spite of my circumstance and even AFTER I called to cancel. I was never ever late on billing when I called to cancel. I was only late on billing as a result of them not accepting my request to cancel. Shame on you Gold's Gym!! I hope it was worth it to try to collect your $136 that you billed me AFTER I requested to cancel. This shows your true character so I just wanted to warn other members...especially if you don't live in the area...this gym is totally inflexible and they will relentlessly disregard your requests to cancel unless you jump through all of their deterring hoops! By the way you won't collect one penny from me. read more

I have been a member of The Rush since 2008 , then it got bought by Golds Gym , my fees went from 24.99 a month to $42.99 , I love working out here but I must say improvements must be made .... I agree with whoever posted about fixing equipment , stuff stays broken for months , the steam room needs a major upgrade, I love working out but one thing that really kills me is to listen to (Muscle Heads) scream and grunt and drop weight making the ground shake .... CANT STAND THAT !!! That is very disrespectful !!!.... managers should constantly walk around asking all the members their questions and concerns and be in contact to treat every day Joes like regulars .... 2 stars seems harsh, but for my needs, this is a 2 star gym. Cons: -Never enough standard barbells. Always missing from bench, squat, dead. -Excessive machines and machine space. We don't need 10 different leg machines and 10 different back machines. Nobody understands them, and few use them. -Very few bumper plates, only one set. -Only 2 movable benches. Almost always taken or moved under the Smith machine. -2 squat racks, another would be nice -1 official deadlift area. Bottom line: Not enough focus on the basics. Wide variety of machines is taking up too much space. Overall space could be better utilized. Pros: -All the standard equipment you could want (too much even) -Pool and hot tub are nice -Not overly crowded, but very full usually -Fairly priced read more

This place slowly has been going downhill since it used to be The Rush. Equipment is constantly broken down with no cares given of when it may be repaired, and it seems as though they don't clean the place as well or often as they used to, so the place has become Double Dare for experiencing the horror of white people's body odors. The tvs over the cardio equipment are constantly beaming Fox News into the already enfeebled minds of the boomers who congregate there and call women 30+ years their junior "sweety. " On top of that the facility is no longer open 24 hours as it used to, but that might actually be a plus as I wouldn't want to encounter one of these previously mentioned boomers in the pool area with minimal staff supervision. read more

Watch out for the hidden contract items. When you cancel, they will still take another fee out of your account. Of course they never tell you this when you sign up. So you cancel your membership on say 7/15 and you have already paid for July, they will take the August fee too. What a truly poor way to treat your customers. read more

Staff is always unpleasant. Bathrooms and equipment are ALWAYS dirty. Staff refuse to regulate ANYTHING. I have no idea how most of the staff have kept their jobs being rude and unwelcoming to customers. Don't join Golds Gym. I signed up back in March and was told that I could cancel at anytime, it would just be a $100 termination fee. Then they stopped being open 24 hours, well that's not convenient for my schedule. I went in to cancel and they told me to go online and fill out a form, I submitted the form online and it came back and told me I had to go in center to cancel. I went in center and was told I can't cancel because I signed a year contract! Wtf! So, whoever signed me up flat out lied to me about the cancelation. I called corporate and they can't do anything! I would like to let you know that most of the staff here especially someone by the name of "Melissa" is very disrespectful and treats people differently based on their race. I'm white so I get to be treated nicely but my friend who is extremely polite is always treated badly. Also it's dirty and if you report anything to customer service (866) 465-3775 the staff inside the gym ignores any of their notes - numerous times have I heard they say "well corporate isn't here" and things of that nature. Yes I did report this to corporate. I'm not one to complaint but I'm just furious. Cancelled the membership today. Will never return. Will post negative posts everywhere that would allow me to do so. read more

Love this gym! The water aerobics is by far my favorite part. Being pregnant i was discouraged with working out because it was too much on me. Once i started the water aerobics class i felt like i finally found my place and even at 8 months pregnant i still love going. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly. My kids 8 and 1 go to the kids zone and both enjoy the staff and have a lot of fun playing with all of the toys and even xbox. read more

Overpriced and they make it difficult to cancel. Closed the location in Cleveland and made me drive to Chattanooga to cancel in person. I have never had any other membership of any kind that could not be cancelled over the phone. They are still trying to charge me for the next month after my cancelation even though I was explicitly told I could cancel at any time after three months with no penalty. Seriously just get a membership at a cheaper gym. read more

Very disappointed in the Gym. My child was hurt in kid care at this gym by a boy and now my child has a scar from it and he was allowed to come back! This is the same boy who has hurt 2 of my kids and many other children in kid care. I was told they would let me know something when the incident happen but yet I never heard a word from management or cooperate. How sorry!!! read more

Horrible place. Rude staff. Members aren't required to clean up after themselves or at least it's not regulated as the employees don't ever clean either. You never see employees cleaning ever like other gyms. The day care is gross and the door is disgusting when it could EASILY be cleaned then painted. Forget the daycare and your schedule be prepared to come and be put in the waiting list for the daycare you pay for. Don't worry it's just a little longer wait than a restaurant?? 30 mins? The gym itself stinks and the equipment is old and outdated they don't even grease any of them and they sound horrible. The employees are extremely rude after you purchase a membership they look past you as if they didn't just sell you their place yesterday. Do yourself the favor and look at Planet Fitness or the Hamilton YMCA if you'd like nice staff and cleanliness when working out. We watched several soaking wet in sweat members go from equipment to equipment and never wiping anything down and the employees never do either. You can come the next day and see the residue still there. Way too much money for how gross it is. Glad we were able to cancel. read more

I have been out due to illness for almost 3 months, went back in and was congratulated by staff and cheered for coming back in and encouraged to stick with it.
