I've heard about Cake 2 Go but there is no branch near our place so I haven't really tried it. One…read moretime, though, I found this branch almost beside the bed and breakfast I was staying at for the night. Of course I had to try it! I was immediately drawn to the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake, but when I asked the staff for a recommendation, she mentioned that the bestseller was Toblerone Overload. And so I tried a slice of that (all cake slices are usually P100 up, so it's the usual price in cafes too), and it was quite nice with a mousse base and some Toblerone bits. Another time I was able to try their chocolate cake (I think it's the Mom's Chocoholic Fudge Cake), which a friend brought for a birthday celebration, and which I believe she also got from this branch. It was definitely one of the richer, more chocolate-y chocolate cakes I have tried. I definitely had to drink plenty of water in between bites!

And for those occasions, there's always a go-to place and for me, it's Cake 2 Go. Conveniently located on President's Avenue in BF Homes, Cake 2 Go is a one-stop bakeshop made for people like me who basically have no time. Their cakes are huge, reasonably priced, presentable enough for any occasion and not too good that you wouldn't want it all for yourself. Their cheesecakes are a must-try along with their famous Toblerone cake. Just make reservations in advance as their top selling ones are usually sold out on weekends. Their cake prices range from P 500-700 pesos and can usually feed up to 5-7 people with huge appetites.

Everything at Cielin's Cake Shop actually tastes like it was made right out of the comforts of your kitchen. A must-try is their mini cheese tart and moist chocolate cake - they're even better than those from the mainstream cake shops in the Metro. Cielin's Cake Shop is a bit hard to locate but once you see The Good Shepherd Bazaar, you're almost near the place.

It's right in front of a church and if that's not an ingenious idea then I don't know what is. They have all sorts of goodies in this store and the prices are very affordable. I like how they've managed to give out the best prices while still maintaining the quality of their cakes. Oh you should come here when you're extremely hungry, it'll be fun I tell you. Last time I did that, I had 3 cupcakes in one sitting then brought home their famous chocolate cake for my sister. Don't ask me what I was on, it was fantastic and let me again say that I didn't have to spend so much. P500 can haul you a stash already. A cake costs around P300-P350 while cupcakes cost around P20-P25. See what I mean by inexpensive? But that doesn't mean the cakes here aren't excellent, all of them taste great! So if you ever find yourself in the area, go to mass then grab a cake. Trust me your prayers will be answered.

It has a little bit of a diner feel to it depending on where you choose to sit. My boyfriend and I went there post-dinner, and we were lucky enough to catch the place more relaxed and with fewer people. Behind the glass near the counter, the pastries were displayed beautifully, and everything looked clean and well-kept. We ordered two cupcakes, both chocolate-based (because dessert isn't dessert unless it's some sort of derivation of chocolate, I always say), and were pretty excited to try them. For a girl with a sweet tooth, cupcakes aren't necessarily very high up on my favorite sugars list, but over the last couple of years, I'd tried enough to crave them once in a while. Unfortunately, I won't exactly be writing accolades about the cupcakes themselves. One was bland (which is a lot to say for something that's essentially a ball of sugar and chocolate) and the other dry. The good news is that we were happy with the beverages we ordered. I'd ordered a mocha drink of some sort, and my boyfriend had coffee. Overall, while I'm not a fan of the cupcakes, I'd say this is a good place to hang out if only for the ambience and the satisfactory drinks.

I appreciate minimal designs more but there are days when I just want to see pink, pink, and more pink. Larcy's is your usual pink and girly cupcakery; what with the spacious place and lightly-colored walls, dotted with equally girly chairs everywhere. I didn't waste any time choosing what to order. I already know what I would get, since I'm a bona fide red velvet lover. For some reason though they called theirs "Pink Velvet". I kinda thought the cupcake would be a little lighter in color but it wasn't. It was still my good old red velvet, in a pink cupcake foil. I'm glad that the one I bought lived up to my expectations. The cake is moist and it has this in-depth flavor that I look for. Not to mention the cream cheese, which has an excellent quality.
