This is a nice place for kids to learn to swim. We have two little ones as students there. There are so many things I like about it: 1. The student body and the staff showcase the diversity of Silver Spring; 2. Everybody is there for their kids to learn, so there is very little judgment of kids or of parents' 3. Changing facilities are better than adequate; 4. The teachers are all so very nice and enthusiastic; 5. The don't mark the heck up out of the things they sell, such as goggles and swim diapers; 6. It's very well organized and front desk staff is responsive; 7. The water is very warm. 8. LOTS of staff around the pool. It's clear they take safety very seriously. If I had one constructive criticism is I wish the big kid classes were just a little longer. I'm sure their scheduling is very challenging, but I think the slightly older kids would benefit from having more time in the pool to practice their skill (they split their time with their classmates and 30 minutes go by quickly!). read more

Our son enjoyed swim lessons here until he grew out of them. Pros: warm water, small groups, overall good instruction Cons: lots of staff turnover so hard to keep the same teacher, complicated process for moving to the next level (and the turnover doesn't help), and most of all cost. $40 a lesson is very expensive for this format. read more

I am not interested anymore my son join silver spring location I am not happy the way you handled the whole situation . I am so disappointed. Most of swimming instructor are the best but the management team should need training how to resolve a problem or conflict that need to be addressed and fixed requiring to take action to find a solution or reach a satisfactory outcome. read more

The instructors for the toddler class seemed great, but that is about all the positive I could say. Lessons aren't cheap ($140 for 4 30 minute classes per month) but in reality the kids are only in the pool for either 7-10 min total... they have 3-4 kids per instructor and have all the kids sit on the side of the pool until it is their turn. Seems to work great but they barely get any pool time, maybe would be more worth it if it was an 1-long class. My 3 year old enjoyed the class but said that she didn't know why we didn't stay longer. As far as the infant class, it was a joke.. they just had the parents float around with the kids... which is fine but NOT a swim lesson. We have had an amazing experience with infant swim lessons elsewhere so we know it is possible to ice some structures, songs and fun with infant swimming! read more

I write both positive and negative reviews when appropriate, and I always look at the negative reviews when I'm searching for a place to see if there are consistent themes. For Goldfish Swim School, the cancellation policy is incredibly unfavorable to the customer - take note! To cancel, you have to give 30 days notice AND if a new swim class is within that 30 days, they charge you for that class as well. If you're a busy parent and travel and have to miss class sometimes, this swim school is not worth the headache. NO refunds for missed classes, and missed class "tokens" are almost impossible to use and you can accrue a lot if you have a change of plans. If you have more than 2 makeup tokens, just consider your money GONE. It'll be impossible to make them up when you're ready to cancel. If you need/like flexibility when cancelling, this is not the place. Also, they've had over-charging errors (system wide) and have had to correct it. But he careful, I had to catch an overcharging mistake myself when I enrolled 2 kids and they charged almost $1,000 in 1 month (I basically signed up for a 3-month special and they charged me for that PLUS an entire month for the same kid PLUS the regular charge for the 2nd kid - it was bananas). I'm sure they'll share a lengthy response to this, but just be forewarned that if you ever need to cancel, you may be pretty frustrated with the amount of money they pocket. Also, review your bills every month critically in case of errors they don't catch but charge you anyway. It's just a lot. I need my kids' activities to be easier on me than this. read more

Our daughter has been swimming with Goldfish since she was 18 months! She is now 4 and swimming like crazy! She's so comfortable in the water and always looks forward to her swim lessons. They're very flexible with scheduling and wonderful about issuing make up tokens if you miss a class. Family swim is a great feature as well. read more

I am so happy that I chose Goldfish Silver Spring for my boys swimming lessons. They took lessons before the pandemic at a rec center (which they weren't too fond of) but lost what they learned during the world lockdown. When I told them at the beginning of this year that I was going to place them back in swimming lessons, they both shed plenty of tears and begged me not to. "Please Mommy, anything but swimming!", is an exact quote from the both of them. So guilt ridden and with sadness in my heart I still signed them up because this is a life skill that needs to be learned, but this time with Goldfish. Day 1 was an evaluation and the instructor for both my boys was YOHAN. Immediately he made both my boys feel comfortable and most importantly, safe in the water. After 30 mins with YOHAN, my boys declared they didn't want any other instructor! The tears were nowhere in sight and they even spoke happily about their next lesson! I How fortunate were my boys and I to get an instructor as amazing as YOHAN on our first trip to Goldfish! My boys are literally making great strides from just a few lessons and I can't wait to see how far they are come summertime. The other instructors are great as well and all of the staff is pretty helpful. read more

We have loved the 1.5 years our little one has been at Goldfish - truly a fantastic experience and she's learned so much, however the classes have gotten ridiculously crowded and overbooked on the weekends. It's been really disappointing to have our little one moved out of the class because there's been too many enrollees and moved to a younger class a few times because of overbooking issues. especially with lessons that are so expensive already, I'd hope that we'd be able to be in the swim class we pay for, not a younger children's class that doesn't challenge my child or is not age appropriate. read more

Cute place for the little ones to learn how to swim. There were 5 instructors with 3 kids each. Goldfish Swim School offer lessons for infants to children up to 12 yrs of age. This is a fun place to swim in a fun environment. read more

This place is pretty to look at, but a shitty place nonetheless. Different instructors every week, no progress in class, even though my son can do all the skills and more on his own, the pay system is a scam, too. Highly recommend that you don't go here. read more

My 3 year old who started off afraid to even get her hair washed is now thriving and putting her head underwater . These young adults do a great job teaching and are very patient .. i highly recommend . They are great when it comes to rescheduling (had to cancel some classes due to an ear infection and they added the tokens to my account and I'm able to use them whenever ) worth every penny ! Worth the wait! My son is in the mini 1 class and he LOVES it. He's always been a little fish, but I'm excited to see him learn and grow into a confident independent swimmer. Staff is so friendly, they make you feel like family. The facility is adorable and the amenities they offer for after class... worth every cent of the membership! I appreciated the socially distant protocols they have in place and the friendly staff. What I didn't appreciate was their refund policy. We decided to switch to the Rockville location because of location considerations but found out that we couldn't transfer our remaining swim lessons to the Rockville location. Management wouldn't refund the unused classes (a full month's worth since the autopay had just charged me for the next month). Staff was nice, professional but the inflexible refund policy is unreasonable. read more
