I loved the video monitors and the fact that the pools were raised so I could be there watching from the side with my one year old without worrying about her falling in. I didn't need to get in the pool. Rich was an excellent coach. He had unending patience with my child (can I borrow some of that?!) and by the end of the swim lesson she had made a lot of progress. She trusted him quickly and laughed a lot. When we left she said 'I loved it!' Can't wait to go back. Shower facilities were excellent. They have a machine that fast dries your swim suit. We are obviously not competitive swimmers, but the technology available there is impressive. Even as an outsider, I can understand the benefits of having video monitors to replay your stroke and compare it to that of other swimmers while your coach talks you through it. I don't know of any other swim facilities like this in Montgomery County, MD.

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel other parents deserve to know our experience so…read morethey can make an informed decision. We had been coming to Goldfish Swim School in Gaithersburg for about two years with both of our daughters. There are definitely positive things about this school: a warm pool, a bright and kid-friendly environment, and some instructors who are kind and patient. My children truly loved the water and looked forward to their lessons. However, our experience as a family ended on a very disappointing note. My younger daughter is a playful, energetic six-year-old. She loves to splash, move, and interact with people in the water. Instead of speaking with me about any concerns (I was present at every class), the management decided to remove her from the program, describing her behavior as "aggressive" toward an adult instructor. As a parent and as someone who watched every lesson, I strongly disagree with this interpretation. What I saw was normal, emotional child behavior that could have been redirected by a more experienced teacher. No one approached me during class, no one asked to talk, and there was no warning or attempt to work together. The first and only conversation was an email informing me that she would no longer be allowed to attend. This decision was made right before Thanksgiving, turning what should have been a peaceful family holiday into a very stressful and emotional situation for us. I had to sit down with my six-year-old and explain why she suddenly couldn't go back to the place she loved. Since I cannot take my children to different schools and schedules, I ultimately had to withdraw both of my daughters, including the older one who had no behavioral issues at all. In the end, the school lost two long-term students and a loyal family not because we didn't value swimming, but because of how the situation was handled and how little effort was made to find a solution. I believe this program may work well for very calm, highly focused children who easily follow instructions and don't get too excited or distracted. But if your child is more spirited, emotional, playful, has trouble with concentration, or needs a more flexible teaching style, I would strongly recommend you observe a class carefully and ask specific questions about how they handle different types of behavior, how they communicate with parents, and what steps they take before excluding a child. My hope is that the school will learn from this experience, invest in more training for staff, and improve communication with families. Children deserve understanding, not exclusion -- and parents deserve to be part of the conversation before such drastic decisions are made.

The outdoor pool area has gone through an AMAZING transformation!…read more I first want to say that unfortunately I don't have many pictures. I didn't want to seem rude and make people self conscious by taking pictures with them in it, specially when in bathing suits and lots of young children. With that said, this outdoor pool is beautiful! The parking space is ample. So many places to park. The surrounding area is covered by trees and other outdoor activities including a baseball diamond/field and a very nice skate park. Upon entering, there is a small fee to get in daily. I believe residents receive discount to and there are passes available. As soon as we entered the swimming area, I was really impressed! Plenty of spaces to sit. In the shade, sun, a bit further away, many options. There is a shallow pool with lots of fun activities and slides for the young kids. That pool is 1FT deep and it's perfect for families. There's another pool with a basketball game another cool slide and zip tie pool plunge. On the far right there's an area with the long, tall slides ! These are new and look so fun. A bit further behind is a lap pool with diving boards. Unfortunately we came on a day with poor air quality and they had to close early. But we did enjoy 2 hours worth of swimming. There is an additional indoor pool and we were encouraged to swim there. We decided to go home. There's a confession stand that we didn't get to try and I haven't seen the fitness center yet. I honestly can't wait to come back, best pool in the area. Not too packed, big, fun, plenty to do. Loved !

There was a camp with hundreds and hundreds of children running around. They didn't all listen to the lifeguards. There were no chairs available -- that's on us, we should have come at opening, but it was wildly overcrowded and then another camp with even younger children arrived. My kids are young teen/tween age and excellent swimmers but it's more crowded than a Great Wolf Lodge on a holiday with a lot less supervision. I felt awful for the lifeguards. We'll likely come back on a weekend because the facilities are great but the amount of children vs adults/older teens is honestly hard to imagine and felt very stressful.

The guy we spoke with was very friendly and personable. Once we showed up, we realized we came to this location (North Bethesda, not Rockville!) and would miss out on a class. The woman at the desk offered to have our package transferred to this location and fit us into the next class which was conveniently just an hour wait. We spent some time in the nearby Trader Joe's and came back to have our first class! The instructor was straight to the point and not really interactive with our 6 month old but he had a great time swimming. What really made the experience was the staff at front desk. Like the other reviews say, skip the changing rooms (we changed in our SUV) and try to shower once you get home if you can. Everything else was great!

I exchanged multiple emails to get her enrolled, and while I was asked to sign forms, none of them clearly stated that I would be automatically charged for future months. I was surprised and frustrated to see a charge for January, a month I never intended to sign up for. I was also disappointed in the "Mom and Me" class itself. The class included older children and the activities were not developmentally appropriate for an infant. The session essentially became unstructured water exposure time--something I can provide on my own without paying for formal lessons. We have tried another class at a swim school elsewhere (swimkids) when I was visiting my parents and the quality and structure were significantly better. I am extremely upset about the misleading auto‑enroll practice. After I raised concerns, a staff member named Michelle called me and referenced documents I had signed, yet none of those documents explicitly state that I was agreeing to automatic renewal. As a consumer, I believed I was paying for a single month of classes in December--not entering into an ongoing subscription. The language used is ambiguous at best and feels intentionally unclear. Between the lack of transparency in your billing practices and the underwhelming class experience, I am very disappointed. I will be sharing my experience with other parents so they can make informed decisions before enrolling their children.

The pool size is smaller, as are the class sizes and this helps with comfort level. The staff are exceptional, and the trainers are attentive to each child, though I do wish they would communicate updates to the parents more frequently. As for the location itself, it is very clean and well kept. The waiting area has lots of toys, tables, activity items for kids while they wait for class to start. There are benches for parents to sit and observe the class sessions. The locker room is large, spacious, and again well kept and clean. There are plenty of showers. I do wish they had one more bathing suite dryer though. If you are the parent of a young child in the Montgomery Village area I highly recommended Safesplash. There are a few areas that need improvement, some of which I listed (more bathing suite dryers, more communication post class with instructors), but I am happy to give this business five stars!
