We then drove back to Rosedale to check out this nursery. After going to Reimer's I was actually glad that White Forest was closed. Beautiful nursery and friendly knowledgeable staff!!! We will definitely return for more beautiful plants. I thought their pricing was pretty reasonable, especially in comparison to other nurseries in town and local home improvement stores. I also found it cool that their flowers are grown from seeds in their own greenhouse. They are the only nursery in Kern County to do this!!!

After my surgery my husband surprised me with our tree, which he had purchased from Zacks. It's a newer place in town and he knows I'm big on shopping local. He told me he had called different places and this was the only one that offered delivery for that day and it was very important to him he had the tree for right after my surgery. He explained the situation to an employee there, Heather. Upon delivery she included a gift of succulents for me since my husband had told her how much I love plants, specifically succulents. It was such a kind gesture and meant so much to me when I came home. Thank you for your thoughtfulness during such a rough time A few weeks later I went back to Zacks with my husband because I wanted to see everything in person. They had a great selection of plants both inside and out. There were a lot more outdoor plants and trees than houseplants. However, the indoor plant section was still nice sized. There were racks of succulents everywhere! I was able to meet Heather in person and thank her for my gift. She then told me about the succulent parties you can book in their building for after hoursI included photos of their cute little succulent party area in this review and she gave me a few basic details. The price is $25 - 30 per person with a minimum of 5 people. This price includes any pot for $12 or under and 5 succulents - 3 small + 2 big. You can also choose between a bottle of wine or something else to drink. You can bring snacks if you want and just hang out and plant together! Sounds like so much fun! The women who run the…read morenursery (I believe they are Robby's daughters who took over after he passed away) are incredibly knowledgeable about plants. You can tell they have a genuine passion for what they do, and they are always so generous with their knowledge. The nursery itself feels like a maze designed for plant lovers. With every turn, there's something new or intriguing to discover. You can wander from one section to another and suddenly find a unique plant, an interesting pot, or some unexpected little treasure. It makes browsing feel like an adventure rather than just a shopping trip. And somewhere along your journey, you'll probably come across the nursery's two resident cats who clearly believe they run the place. They are both incredibly sweet and friendly. One of my favorite things is that if you tell them what plants you have, they can even mix up a bag of soil specifically suited to your plants. That kind of personalized service is becoming harder and harder to find. Another huge plus is the reasonable pricing, especially considering some of the more unusual and rare plants they carry. During this visit, I spotted mini Thai Constellation Monsteras for only $20! I've seen these plants priced at two or even three times that amount at other places, so finding them here at such a reasonable price was an especially nice surprise. I also love taking my time looking around inside the cashier building. There are so many interesting little treasures tucked in there, from marinades made by a business up on the coast to those adorable mini Thai Constellation Monsteras. During this visit, I discovered some beautiful handmade pots created by artists from Oceano and San Luis Obispo. I could easily spend way too much time browsing all the unique finds. They also shared some really interesting information about how plant shops along the coast will occasionally come together, almost like a farmers market, to sell all kinds of plants. I love learning things like this during my visits. Honestly, every trip to Robby's is about more than just buying plants. I really enjoy the conversations I have with these women and soaking up all the knowledge they have to share. They are friendly, passionate, and clearly love what they do.

Small but Mighty! I…read morerecently discovered The Luxe Leaf Co., a new plant shop located right across the street from the original Dewar's location, and this little shop is definitely worth putting on your plant-crawl list! The space is small but mighty and beautifully set up. They have an incredible selection of rare and highly coveted plants that will have any plant lover trying to convince themselves that they definitely have room for just one more. I went in simply to browse and pick out a few plants for my classroom and, of course, left with several new additions to my botanical baby collection. The star of my haul was an extremely rare Alocasia Pink Bambino varietal. It was definitely a splurge, but for a plant this special, it was worth every dollar on the price tag. They also had pitcher plants that looked so much healthier than the ones I usually see at the big hardware stores. You can tell these plants are being cared for by people who actually know and love them. And the little extras made the experience even better! They gave me a free little succulent, and because I spent over $25, I was entered into a drawing to win a free plant. Who doesn't love a little plant-shopping bonus?! Now, getting into the shop was an adventure of its own. The store wasn't hard to find, but ALL the doors were locked. Talk about a tease; you can see all these gorgeous plants sitting inside, but you can't touch them! Luckily, the owner picked up the phone right away and gave us the code to open the security door. Suddenly, my plant-shopping experience turned into a plant speakeasy. Instead of a fancy cocktail, I walked out with a rare botanical! I'm definitely keeping The Luxe Leaf Co. on my list for my next plant crawl with friends. If you're a plant love, especially one who gets excited about rare and unusual varieties, this is a little shop you'll want to check out.
