I walked in and the first thing I thought was this little flower shop has potential to be great. The only thing that amazed me were these canvases on the wall, now they were beautiful pictures. Everything else, no. Carnations were in paint buckets on the floor by the front door, and most of them were broken. I looked through them trying not to break more. One woman was at the register, busy on the phone. There were other workers? customers? friends? who knows, at this table on the other side of the room maybe putting bouquets together. Usually my go to flower shop in town because I live near it but I've rarely ever had a delivery that was made on time. Usually these arrangements get there at the end of the day. I've had flowers delivered to wife's work after the work day was over. Flowers for Mother's Day late in the afternoon, usually people get them in the morning or early afternoon. I've had to call before to hassle them over the delivery time and even meet their drivers to just pick up the flowers myself despite paying delivery. The flower arrangements are nice, I get I'm paying extra for convenience but there's always some sort of inconvenience here that turns every single one of my nice gestures or gifts into what looks like an after thought at the end of the day or hassle for me to hunt people down for the delivery. I called Flower Bar from Sacramento looking for a bouquet worthy of celebrating a 60th Wedding Anniversary. My parents, in their 80s, have been alone and separated from family and friends during the pandemic to assure their health. I have seen them twice since March 2020. I didn't realize how awful this was until I tried to request their flowers. I'm embarrassed to admit that I cannot remember the name of the lovely woman who helped me fashion an extra special arrangement, but it wasn't long before I was crying to her about how much I miss my parents. She was kind, patient and gentle with me and we talked through what I envisioned. On the day of the anniversary my parents texted me a picture of the bouquet. I purchased 6 stems of daisies and 10 stems of tulips for my mother and my friend's mother the day before mothers day. I was a walk-in and was told I couldn't have tulips because they didn't have enough for a bundle. After searching around I asked again if they were sure I couldn't have any tulips, but apparently they grew some fast enough to "change their minds"... and gave me 10 stems of them. So when I purchased the two bundles they scanned my card twice, saying there was an error the first time, but later I see my account was charged the $55.21 twice. So I called and told them this issue. I told them exactly how many stems of flowers I bought and the exact day and time, but because I didn't have my receipt "there was nothing they could do about it." And she recognized who I was right away because when I called and told her I was charged twice she immediately said "oh you were a walk-in". So, very unhelpful and I will never go again. I've learned a valuable lesson this week....never use the online florists, not ever!! Make the time to utilize our local flower shops and drive/call to make your purchase. After 3 days of back/forth and a unsuccessful delivery ($150 order) I became extremely frustrated and by day 4 I'm still receiving emails they are "working on my refund! ...(ya I bet they are..NOT). That entire online system is a ripoff, as well as very expensive. In addition, they rarely provide the correct flower order nor are they fresh. They choose random businesses and the customer service people are horrible too!! Therefore, today I walked into The Flower Bar on Stockdale Hwy. and I shared my flower preferences/colors, price range, and picked from a beautiful selection of vases; the gentleman provided some great ideas and he was VERY knowledgeable, extremely courteous, professional and within Minsk time he created a stunning arrangement for me! For the past two years I got both my formal and prom flowers from here and I loved every single arrangement I got!! My first time I had to get flowers was my junior year formal and I called ahead to another flower shop in Rosedale to book a spot since I had four days before the dance. They told me they will save me a spot but when I got there they said that they don't remember me calling in and told me they were full. I was on the verge of tears because 1. they were quite rude about it and 2. I had no idea if there was a place where I can even get flowers now since most were booked up at that time. I finally found Flower Bar and from the first step I took inside the building they were nothing but sweet and kind to me. They really care for their customers and will help you and work with you to get you the arrangements that you need. I'm super indecisive and will spend so long deciding what I want. They don't rush you or push you. I also went back this year twice for formal and now prom because I wanted a change in my bouquet and they had no problems helping me with it.
