Unfortunately, I did not read the several other terrible reviews for this tailor and chose her simply based on convenience, since she is relatively close to my home. That was my mistake. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was already bad. The greeting was rude and unwelcoming. It was not a warm "hi, how are you, how can I help you." It was very cold and dismissive, like she did not care to have a customer in her shop. I brought in my graduation dress and explained what I needed. She immediately seemed hesitant and kept mentioning how much work it was and how many other things she had to do. I actually started to wrap my dress back up to take it elsewhere because she clearly did not seem confident. Instead of letting me go, she insisted she could do it. She said things like "I guess I can do it" and "it's a big job," but still proceeded to take it. I should have trusted my instinct and walked away right then. I tried on the dress, she measured everything, pinned it, and walked through the alterations with me like she understood exactly what needed to be done. I then paid the full amount upfront, plus extra, because she made it seem like it was such a big job. I did not pay a deposit. I paid in full. She told me she would call me when it was time to come back and try it on. Five days went by. No call. No update. Nothing. I finally called her myself to check on the progress, and that is when she casually told me, "I couldn't do it." No apology. No accountability. No sense of urgency. Just a shrug and excuses about having other customers and other weddings to work on. I reminded her that I was also a paying customer. I paid in full. At that point, I was not just an inquiry, I was your client. Her response was still dismissive, like it did not matter. My biggest issue is this: if you knew you could not do the dress, why did you not call me? This was a graduation dress needed by a specific date. Instead of communicating, she held onto my dress for days, did not complete any real work, and only told me she could not do it after I called her. On top of that, she had already started altering the jacket and left it with holes and pins, meaning I had to rush, leave work early, get my money back, and scramble to find another tailor with only a few days left before my deadline. That is unacceptable. There was no remorse, no professionalism, no accountability. Just constant shrugging and repeating "I couldn't do it." This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a business. After reading the other reviews, I realize this is a pattern. Rude service, poor communication, and taking on work she clearly cannot handle. Take caution. Do not bring your clothes here if you actually care about them or have a deadline. Do not waste your time, your money, or your peace of mind. This experience was stressful, frustrating, and completely avoidable had she simply been honest from the beginning. I will never return. They do really excellent work here! We used Golden Thimble to have my daughter's senior blazer altered. It needed work around the shoulders (not an easy alteration), waist and sleeves. When we got the blazer back, it fit absolutely perfectly! My daughter is so happy that her senior blazer actually looks good on her now! AMAZING!! I was losing hope because I needed a jumpsuit to be made bigger and had three different tailors tell me that it was impossible. She looked at it for about 30 seconds and knew she could do it. I needed it done in two days and it was ready to go on time and FIT LIKE A GLOVE. My coat was not ready at the set pick up time. Tailor's excuse was that she was going to call me for a later time but forgot. Tailor said I could come back in the late after noon around 4:00, so I did. She said she forgot to hem my coat during that time as well. So I had to leave AGAIN! It's so simple to just call and tell me to come in later and that didn't happen! So idiotic and unprofessional. read more

Absolutely a blessing to find an amazing seamstress/tailor in the Addison area. She has fixed blazers, trousers, swim shorts... Everything for me. Fantastic customer service and great quality work. I tried golden thimble from a referral of a friend. I was very impressed with the quality of the work and the prices weren't bad at all. Hemming was average price, but repairing a seam hole was a little pricey to me. I had alteration done to a dress and it fit perfectly afterwards and it was a reasonable price as well. 2 stars because of poor customer service. The person who was there was clearly not happy I came in. She was mumbly and dismissive the whole time. Also be aware that you are required to prepay for alterations, and they only take cash or check. Seemed a bit fishy, so I got out of there. Don't recommend based on this experience. read more

Golden Thimble does great work. I have not been to a tailor in a long time, but I had this skirt that needed to be shortened and a pair of pants that needed re-cuffing. I am new to the area and needed someone to hem the new pants I purchased with a suit. I looked online and in yelp and decided on this place and I'm glad I did. their website said same day service and next day available which is what I really needed. I went in and asked about the same day service and she was able to hem my trousers in an hour! With the rush service it only cost me 16 dollars and some change. I tried the pants on and they fit perfect and the hem was just as I asked. Very friendly no hassles even when I didn't have the cash up front to pay. They just took my measurements and started on pants while I went to ATM for some cash. So the only draw back is CASH OR CHECK only so keep that in mind if your heading that way. read more

Great work fast turnaround on a bridesmaid dress I needed sis on before traveling out of the country.

I took a bridesmaid dress in first of November to have the dress hemmed. I let the woman there know it had to be available 9 days later if possible due to me being in a wedding the next day. I had waited this long to get the dress hemmed because I was pregnant up until having the baby the week before. Went to pick up the dress the day it was ready and the woman told me to come back 2 hours later. No apology, just explained she was working by herself that day and hadn't finished the dress. Dress was ready 2 hours later and the hem was done well. I paid $78 just to get my dress hemmed, and in my opinion that is pretty expensive for a service that was not completed on time. The woman was not very friendly and still did not apologize. read more

Lucy did an incredible job with a morphsuit and v-neck I needed tailored! Since some festivals give you bracelets as your "ticket," I needed the hands and wrists of the morphsuit removed so I don't have any problems taking off the suit afterwards! Also, since the morphsuit also covers the face, I asked for that to be removed. Finally -- and this was a real life saver -- she put an invisible fly on the front so I don't have to take the suit off to use the restroom. Lucy came through on a day where she was quite busy. She was managing the entire store alone, but worked late to finish the alterations to my costume. Because of her, I was able to have a fantastic time at my festival dressed as a leopard. I will absolutely be back to have more clothes altered. read more

This place was phenomenal although it took 2 days longer than she said it would take she did more for my dress than I paid for everything was smooth and everything fit just like a glove! I paid WAY less than I expected and it made everything fit perfectly in budget... for how much I paid I got WAY too much extra work out of her for free. Had two pairs of pants hemmed. The work seems good, but holy cow the attitude on that lady. She wasn't blatantly insulting, but 100% dismissive and irritated I interrupted whatever she was doing. I didn't see a sign posted saying cash or check only. Who doesn't have the ability to swipe a card these days? It's unfortunate, because the store is close to my work, but I can't encourage that attitude with my patronage. read more

Unprofessional owner, Lucy. Took my clothing to Golden Thimble for alterations and the pick up date was a week later. I came back a week later and my item was not ready. Lucy told me to come back 5 days later, I wrote the new date to return on my receipt. I came back on that new date (5 days later) and my item was still not ready. Lucy behaved as though she didn't care or was aloof about the situation, shrugged her shoulder and said "it's not ready yet". I told her I need to get this done today and now. She finished my item that same moment as I told her I would wait for my item. She never apologized. She takes payments up front and is negligent on producing results in a timely manner. There's tons of alteration places throughout the Metroplex, I will happily take my money elsewhere. She is unreliable. She is unapologetic. She is not interested in maintaining repeat customers. That's just too bad and sad for her. read more

My dress was not ready when she said it would be. I came to pick up my wedding rehearsal dinner dress a week after I dropped it off between 1:00-2:00pm on the day she said it would be ready. When she asked what the dress looked like, I pointed to a white dress hanging behind her and said it was that one. She said if it's back there, then that means she forgot about it and that it wasn't ready. She asked me to come back the next day, but I told her I was going out of town for my wedding and needed it that day. She said, "Well, you didn't tell me it was important." I did not know my specified pickup time was contingent on me telling her it was important.. I had to come back that afternoon to get it and received no apology or offer for a refund. The whole situation was very frustrating and stressful with zero sense of remorse or apology in return. This was my first and last visit to Golden Thimble. read more
