We've been in Cancun for a couple of days already and after a while you kind of want to mix things up after continuously eating at the abundant amount of Mexican and American restaurants in the Hotel Zone. I thought it was kind of a pleasant surprise and bizarre to find a Chinese restaurant around! I'm giving this place five stars for various reasons. 1. The staff- super friendly and welcoming. The two men helping us made our experience super pleasant. They asked if everything was okay at the right moments and were there to refill our waters before even thinking about refilling them ourselves (we got bottled water). Food came out right on time and even were nice enough to give us the WiFi password ;) 2. Ambience- Hey I've been to plenty of "fine dining" Chinese restaurants back home in SF but not many were as fancy and clean as this one was. The silverware and plates were even fancy. (Wish I took pics of them) 3. Food- At first I wasn't expecting much for quality or authenticity because it's such a touristy area. It looked like it was ran by Chinese owners though, I saw one of them there. I got to eat their fried rice, soy sauce noodles w/ beef and fried chicken with chili. For a Chinese restaurant located so out-of-place in the middle of Cancun's Hotel Zone, this restaurant completely exceeded all of my expectations. I came to Golden Sea as it was deemed by many as the "Best Chinese Restaurant in Cancun," and I can confirm this statement. I've eaten here three times total in three days, which just shows that the food really stands out above the other cuisines in Cancun. Located next to the Plaza Caracol, this makes the restaurant convenient and easily accessible by taxi so there's no difficulty in getting there. It's also within "walking-distance" for some of those that are willing to go the extra kilometer. Upon entering, my friend and I were greeted by the owner. We were immediately relieved that she spoke Chinese, but she didn't speak English. However, they recently hired an English-speaking waiter, which addressed one of the issues that another yelper mentioned. Service was quick and great as they remained attentive throughout each hour period we were there. In summary, the service is great, and they're able to attend to customers in English, Spanish, and Chinese. We ordered the Roast-Pork in Honey Sauce, Dried Fried French Beans, Seaweed and Egg Soup, Small Steamed Buns, Pan Fried Dumplings, and the Beef Noodle Soup. The Roast Pork(Cha Sha) was not standard by any means when it comes to Chinese BBQ pork, but it still tasted great and had excellent plating. The Dried Fried French Beans(or String Beans) were similar to what you would get at Sichuan Restaurant. The seaweed and egg soup was our favorite dish as it had the largest serving size with a superior flavor; it definitely didn't disappoint. The Small Steamed Buns (Xiao Long Bao) caught us off guard at first as they looked deformed and squashed, but the taste was actually really good so if you care about the flavor over the aesthetics, definitely order them! The Pan Fried Dumplings were the only dish that I considered subpar, but that was because they ran out of pork at the time. Although vegetable dumplings aren't my cup of tea, they still had great texture. Last but not least, the Beef Noodle Soup was enough for two people with a great balance of beef, vegetables, and noodles. The Chinese food definitely exceeded my expectations, especially since it was in a touristy location in Mexico. read more

This is a small hole in the wall place that if you walked by it you would probably miss it but we didn't and it claimed to have the best Chinese food in Cancun and they were not wrong! This was the best chinese food I have had in a long time. The food was cooked fast and to perfection. The staff was super friendly. We chose to sit outside and while we were finishing up the owners of the restaurant pulled up and sat outside. They greeted us as if we were family and even offered us a beer they had just purchased. We searched for three days for good Chinese food as we were needing a change after a week of hotel restaurant buffet, etc. We initially passed on this restaurant as it only had 12 reviews on yelp. Google reviews had more. After eating here I felt I needed to post on yelp to help others find Chinese food in Cancun. Staff was good and spoke Chinese, English and Spanish. Including our table, there were about fifty Chinese people eating this Saturday night. Food was fresh, authentic, and good...no complaints. Roast duck dish and the eggplant dish was excellent. BBQ pork dish was okay, but I've had better in Austin and Houston. Price for 8 people was about $145 USD, including tip...we ordered 7-8 dishes. read more

Surprised to see a Chinese restaurant in Cancun and wasn't expecting much. But wow I came twice during my stay here. The food is amazing. Some dishes were even better than the dishes in Chinatown from Chicago.... had their Mongolian beef, Kung Pao chicken, beef chow fun, some kind of soup dumpling and this deep fry beef dish (forgot what it was called). We ordered the steam shrimp, but the shrimp was over cooked, it was very hard to chew, nothing like shown on the menus. Just like the other viewer said, the rice noodle is tasty but the shrimp has no taste at all. Also we ordered some dim sum, and those are not freshly made, they are the frozen kind you can buy from supermarket, very disappointed... this is the first time we go to this restaurant and it will be the last time as well. Glad we could find a Chinese place by the hotel strip. Location is near to bus stand and super market. 80% was Chinese crowd and they know what they were ordering. We had fried rice and Kung Pao. I ordered a fresh steam rock fish and the oil they use stain, they properly keep using the same oil over and over again. wouldn't recommend it, but they are the only Chinese restaurant in town so you dont really have a choice. we hate to waste food but I can't swallow it, so we left the whole fish on the table without eating any of it. such wasting money. no refund no apologize. beware read more

No efficiency at all! A waitress told me it would not take long for the next available table but kept me waiting for more than 20 minutes. When we wave her several times she pretended not seeing us and continue serving people who came later than us. Finally, a chef told us the kitchen is busy and it will take an hour and half for food. If you are hungry and do not want to wait that long during busy hours choose other restaurants. read more
