Beautiful beachfront restaurant! Tried a bunch of dishes, but I loved the tuna tostadas. The tuna itself was closer to toro, and every bite was luscious and savory. Also had a ceviche mixto which was alright, but they did provide a selection of sauces so I tried it with that. Our server disappeared after taking our order and was only back to process the payment. We stayed at the Villas Del Palma Hotel. We had a difficult time finding any good restaurants outside of the hotel without going to the Zona hotelera about 35-45 minutes away. The flamingo was an incredible find. This is by far the best restaurant in the area. The food, service and atmosphere were all amazing. Service on the beach pretty rare from any restaurant. Everything we ordered from the fried octopus to the lobster Thermidor was excellent. The drinks were great.. We went back three times. read more

All the food we ordered was so fresh and delicious! You could order your seafood by weight but we didn't do that since we wanted to keep it simple. We had a party of 4 and shared the ceviche mixto, tacos gobernado, grilled and fresh seafood, and fresh guacamole. The staff were all friendly, attentive and accommodating. They gave us complimentary shrimp soup which was tangy and spicy, my fav!! Overall, I had a really great experience (except for being eaten alive by mosquitos/ants so make sure you spray tons of bug spray near your feet and legs if you plan on eating dinner outside by the beach). P.S. There's indoor seating if you prefer to eat in peace. I'd definitely come back and try the other menu items read more

Overall - Very Disappointing. A Poor Value The restaurant is beautiful. It is on the beach with seating under the palms and indoors. The violinist playing when we arrived was excellent. I'll give them a star for that. If it had been just that and we were drinking beers, they might have received 5 stars. There were at least 15 employees running around a less than half-full restaurant. We were well attended, but our waiter didn't know about menu items, like the Signature Shrimp Salad (which is apparently is a Caesar salad with shrimp) or what time the band started. It took 15 minutes for our beverage (a pitcher of Naranjada) to arrive. It was nearly an hour for the main course to arrive. (Perhaps some of the bored wait staff should be in the kitchen cooking.) My ceviche was good, but about the size of a small in other restaurants, but more than 3x the price. My wife's salmon was absolutely taste-less, as if it had the flavor boiled or steamed away. We got out of there paying $2300mxn for 3 entrees and 2 pitchers of flavored water. Finally, we went there to try the place, taste the food and enjoy the live salsa/cumbia band. The band was far below average for the area, the lead singer sounding like he was struggling with puberty - trying to hit the notes, the others just didn't blend, individual volume levels totally unbalanced, and they played what looks like the musician's first instruments in middle school. Very Unprofessional and Disappointing. We'll not be back. read more

I'm giving them 4 stars just because it was our first visit (this evening) and haven't tried a lot of items on the menu. What we had was a surf and turf combo with a side order of veggies and rice and plantain. It was all good. We didn't have room for dessert. I'd like to mention Mario, one of the restaurant managers and our server Isabel Dias for being so attentive. The restaurant was recommended by our fellow Garza Blanca member and was close enough to the resort so it was all worth it. For sure we will be coming back on our future visits. Was hesitant coming here because of other reviews saying it was overpriced, well those people obviously don't know what their talking about because my husband and I got complimentary chips and a trio of salsas, complimentary soup, 4 margaritas, shrimp empanadas, and a whole fish, which they were kind enough to split onto two plates since we shared, and it was only $50 USD!! Service was outstanding and we were right on the beach with spectacular views. Nothing like delicious Mexican food on the beach at sunset. Highly recommend eating here! read more

Met up with friends from CA and Thailand, this place was recommended for its seafood. Not your best option. The gobernador shrimp tacos were flavorful and well served. The daily catch, Boquete was hard, overcooked and frankly tasteless. Two in our group didn't eat it. The octopus salad was also hard and seemed to have been made from canned product. The roasted octopus was mediocre at best. Great staff and service. No gripes there. Suggest a culinary revamp. read more

We came here for lunch and let me tell you, I did not eat dinner after. I was so full!!! Our waiter, Daniel, was a young and very vibrant person. Extremely helpful and informative. We ordered so much food, calamari, clams, guacamole and chips, whole fish, chicharrones, melted provolone cheese, salmon, black rice, roasted potatoes, and french fries. Did I mention enough? Anyway, today is the next day and I am still full! I highly recommend, it's right on the beach, there's an amazing breeze so it does not need to be air conditioned. Everything is fresh, they show you the fish or lobster before hand. Rip off! I know prices in Mexico is generally cheaper than US but $15 for margarita? The price wasn't on the menu. It just feel bad to get ripped off. There are lot of the items had no prices, be careful and ask. This is a beautiful restaurant located on the beach in Cancun, but not in the Hotel Zone. It's definitely worth visiting. The place is large and airy, painted in white and bright yellow; the architecture reminds me of something you might find in Key West. They specialize in seafood and it's very fresh. They have tanks with live clams, oysters and lobsters. The oysters were HUGE! They also have a refrigerated room with seafood displayed on ice that you can choose from. We came in for lunch and had some raw oysters and drinks, but it was such a beautiful place and the oysters were so good that we came back for dinner. For dinner, we had oysters Rockefeller, chocolate clams au gratin, New England clam chowder and fish cakes. They were all great except the clam chowder, which had too much cream. We finished with a crème brûlée which was creamy and delicious. We washed it down with some margaritas and finished with espressos. The bill only came to $81 US (cheap, huh?). Service was also excellent and the margaritas were good too. Valet parking is available. Menus are available in English as well as Spanish. Check in on Yelp and get a free cocktail. read more

The manager Mauricio came to my table to check if every was good and Jorge was very nice as well. The food was amazing! I had the grilled octopus on Saturday and the shrimp/ Octupus with garlic on Monday . Yep, I went there twice . I was expecting a better dining expereince given the price. Bottom line: Tourist price with mediocre cusine. $42 for the fish plate, bottle of water and one margarita. The margarita was overly sweet with a reace of tequilla. The grilled seabass I ordered was a little dry an jelly like as though it were frozen more than once. The fish portion was small. The vegetables I ordered were good. The waiter was friendly. For some reason, I was intitially not seated near the water. Most of the guests were out near the beach on a sand floor. Also, taxis are expensive if you venture out to this area of Cancun. Fortunatly, I found out that Uber was available. Instead of paying $300 pesos for a trip home, I got an uber for $60. read more

At a locals recommendation we came here instead of a seafood restaurant near the hotel zone. We are happy we listed to their advice. Flamingos was a wonderful restaurant with a beautiful view. We ordered a grilled lobster with cane with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I believe our lobster was about 22 oz and came out to about $65. That is a very good price since the other restaurant we were planning to go to was 10oz for $45. It was huge and we had no problem sharing. Family trips always involve looking for authentic, local cuisine to try and enjoy. We were referred here by the resort 2x...would have rather gone to Mercado 28. Pros: -very close to our resort, about 5min ride on a Collectivo/Combi/public van shuttles which only cost us $10MXN/person (as of 19.04.18) -there is parking available -location: it is right on the beach, our table was on the sand -large open air dining hall can fit large parties -if it is your birthday, let the staff know and they can sing a birthday song for you or your friend/family -beach access and a few lounge chairs available, not sure if it is part of the restaurant...try them out anyway -large, easy to read menus in English and Spanish...but some still need explanations -fresh seafood for cheaper than American prices and location: we had 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, 4 coconut waters for about $98USD (as of 19.04.18) -If you get the coconut water, they give you the coconut. You can ask them to crack it open and they'll serve you the coconut meat on a plate (or to go) with some Tajin like spice. -My coconut was old (it didn't even have meat inside) and it tasted bad, so I asked the waiter got me a new one: it wasn't the youngest, but it wasn't too bad. -There is a small seafood market you can go into and buy some fresh catch to take home -some plates come in large portions, maybe too large for some -alcohol is served here Cons: -local-ish dishes made for tourist palates...if you like that kind of stuff -they use plastic straws -tends to be pretty windy, so watch out for flying napkins and maybe a grain or two of airborne sand in your eyes/face/food -there's a playground for kids next to where we were sitting, it can get loud depending on the level of fun they are having...choose your table wisely -before you sit on your chair, make sure it is free from left over wet sand from the previous guest -long list of items to choose from the menu: hit or miss...depends on the day and kitchen team I guess -menu doesn't specify type of fish in some items, asking the staff sometimes doesn't help neither due to language barrier and fish names -resort concierge referred us here: i think they get some kickback for making guest reservations (unconfirmed assumption) -some of the pictures on the yelp page are pretty, my plate did not come THAT pretty -if you are looking for a great place for direct sunset view, this is not it. Moon rise worked well for us though Before you go: -a little bit of Spanish goes a long way -friends from non-tipping countries (gratuity included in the bill): Cancun is a tipping city, so bring lots of small bills, MXN or USD. read more

Flamingos is a restaurant located about 30 minutes outside the Hotel Zone. It was a very typical seafood restaurant from the 80s or 90s. The food was mediocre for the price. I ordered a whole fish while my partner ordered a filet stuffed with lobster. The whole fish was fried and was dry. The filet stuffed with lobster tasted fine but seemed dated, like the rest of the restaurant. This is not a 4.5 star restaurant regardless of what other Yelp reviewers say. Compare this restaurant to the Puerto Santo down the street. (The Mar-Bella is another great option.) There's no comparison. If I were the owner, I would make changes to update the restaurant - the décor, but more importantly, the food. I would scale back the menu to a few good items and prepare them in a fresh, modern way. We won't go back when there are other, better choices in the area. read more

This is an inspired seafood restaurant. You can see the food on ice when you come in, whatever is currently caught. You can sit on the beach under the stars or inside, and during the day kids can play on a playground with a trampoline or in a mini waterpark. The servers were attentive, with attention to detail. Read lots of reviews before dining and they were accurate. Some of the best seafood we had while we were in Cancun. Starting with the chips and sauces, all were tasty and would have loved the recipe for a few of them! We ordered an appetizer of calamari but if there's anything we would have changed, it would have been to skip that. They did not have a lot of flavor. Wood fire fish filet, breaded fish fillet, coconut shrimp were our main course. Each one fixed perfectly and large portions. We have enough to take home for lunch tomorrow. To conclude dinner, we ordered a very smooth cappuccino. So good! To accompany, we ordered flan and creme brûlée for dessert. Both were good but the brûlée was superb. The glaze tasted like toasted marshmallow. The manager was delightful and service was top notch. We'll make this a must-do and share with others prior to coming to Cancun. read more

I was just in Mexico and my husband and I were looking for a local place to eat and our taxi driver took us here. The food is AMAZING! The fish doesn't get any fresher as it is literally coming off the docks. We had the fried fish which was done perfectly and was to die for. We also had the conch and octopus carpaccio. The restaurant is on the beach and the ocean is right there which is something we really like. The atmosphere is nice, the staff was excellent and the manager not only greets you when you walk in but also stops by the table to see how everything is. We liked it so much we went back at least three times for dinner. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Oh, and the best part is the dog that comes by to visit. First time we stopped here we were just on a drive and saw this place on Yelp stopped in for a quick snack ended up having an amazing dinner. Came back a few days later and once again had an amazing dinner use my free drink from Yelp and it was amazing and Margarita I think it was passion fruit or mango either way it was really good not too strong perfect way to end a dinner. Let me start this review on a good note... the service at flamingos is excellent and the view/scenery is picture worthy! Now, for the rest of the review. I ordered a grilled lobster with sweet potato purée, grilled green beans and an inch of corn on a cob. The lobster was tasty, not the best I've had, but tasty. The green beans had a bit too much oil for my taste, but delicious. The sweet potatoes tasted like canned sweet potatoes, I didn't eat them past the first bite and the grilled corn had a sweet-tasting syrup that I didn't think fit well with the corn. My husband ordered an octopus 'al ajillo'. It looked and tasted great. No complaints there. My Dad ordered calamari and my sister fried shrimp. Both had very bland breading. I would recommend staying away from anything breaded/fried. My mom ordered a seafood soup (don't recall the exact name), but it was DELICIOUS! I would return just for that dish. My son ordered a pasta with Alfredo sauce. Nobody in the table liked it. The sauce didn't taste like Alfredo sauce. We left it on the table after the first taste. Aside from the food experience, you'll find very friendly neighborhood dogs hanging out at the beach, at the restaurant. My husband and son had a good time playing catch with them (throwing small coconuts into the water) while I watched from one of the hammocks on the shore. There were a great number of kids playing and making a lot of noise/splashing in the restaurant pool, or jumping on a small trampoline. It didn't bother us, but if you're looking for a peaceful meal this is probably not the best spot for you. This restaurant IS great for large groups/families with kids. read more

We saw great reviews so decided to come. What a mistake!!! I ordered steak & lobster. My steak arrived. No one else's food came. No lobster. I had to eat the steak before it got cold. Good but over-cooked. 40 minutes later after many discussions with the manager, the lobster arrived. Tough, not tasty at all. None of us could even eat it. Manager can't speak English. If you're in Cancun this is a must do! It was the best meal I've ever had anywhere in Mexico and I've been coming for over 20 years. The lobster tail was hands down the largest and the most tasty I've ever had. We also shared wood fired shrimp which had a hint of smokey taste and was perfectly prepared. The manager, Mauricio greeted us at the door, seated us and turned us over to our waiter, Manuel who was always there when we needed something. I'll be back next time I'm in Cancun. read more

The concierge Marina at our resort Villa Del Palmar, suggested this restaurant. A most fabulous restaurant that offers very fresh right out of the water seafood. They have a refrigerated room with all their fresh catch's of the day that you can choose from! There are also fresh live lobster and oyster tank's and the ambiance is fantastic, located right on the beach with open air and the string lights from palm trees are so romantic. There are lots of ceiling fans and one fan is mega huge so there is always a nice breeze and it's not too hot. I can't say enough about the staff! The service is perfection and the manager Mauricio, runs a very well trained staff. He is so very accommodating and you can definitely tell he has been in the business for a long time. The food was cooked perfect and the server spoke good english and explained all the food and the sauces, which were plentiful. I look forward to returning to this restaurant when we return!!!
