Noble House is now open every day of the year, perhaps with the exception of Christmas Day,…read morealthough, it may even be open then as well!? They used to be closed on a Tuesday, but have recently opted to open seven days a week, including bank holidays, (but I'm unsure whether bank holidays are the same as national holidays... please enlighten me if you know the difference). Whatever the case, Noble House is open more often than it used to be, and this is a good thing! They make fantastic food, whether it be Cantonese, Peking style or Thai. One of my disappointments is that they don't do Pad Thai, but they do all of my favourite Chinese meals, like Duck and Pineapple for £4.60, which is reasonable, and cheaper than a lot of other places, and the boiled rice is £1.80, making it at the more expensive end of the scale. Chicken with Cashews is £4.30. All the Duck dishes are £4.60, and all the chicken are £4.30 (with one exception: Lemon Chicken at £4.40 which comes with two chicken breasts), beef dishes tend to be £4.40, unless you order the fillet steak options, which are priced at £6.50. Seafood dishes are all £4.60, and pork dishes are £4.30. Fantastic! They also do well priced set meals, Curries, Foo Yung, Chop Suey, Chow Mein, but no Dim Sum. They have 173 different items on their menu, so we'll forgive them the Pad Thai and Dim Sum! Highly recommended!

Ah, Noble House…read more When I lived in this part of Cardiff, Noble House was my takeaway of choice, with some of the best tasting Chinese food in Cardiff. I have a thing for chicken chow mein, and I can say with a degree of authority brought about by hundreds of chicken chow mein dishes, that Noble House make the third best chicken chow mein in Cardiff. That's high praise. All in all, the food is excellent here and is always quick too. Reasonably priced, even if it does slide towards the slightly more expensive side of that scale, it is worth the extra cost just for the extra taste. They also create a number of dishes that I've yet to find elsewhere around Cardiff, such as duck and pineapple. For the local area, there are no better Chinese takeaways, and even if you're used to your usual, you should try Noble House just once and see if they can't change your mind.

Whilst it's pleasant enough to eat in, I have mainly patronised them by using the take out menu, especially when trying to accommodate the tastes a large group of people. They have the most extensive menu for far Eastern food that I'm aware of in Cardiff, and so it's a no brainer who I recommend when we are trying to order for five or more people... it cuts down on the quibbling! The fact that they are open seven days a week also makes them pretty dependable. Being popular, they get pretty busy at the weekends and so delivery times can be erratic. They give a 15% reduction in price for collections, and they tend to process your order a lot quicker if you collect in person. I advise everyone to pick up their food if possible, especially if it's a large order. I've only eaten in once and enjoyed the experience. We needed a table for two at 8.30 on a Saturday night, and luckily didn't have to wait too long, despite not making a reservation. We wouldn't have been so lucky if there had been more of us. It's probably best to book on any night of the week, and is definitely advisable at the weekend. There's two numbers to call: 02920 462388 02920 486288 Unfortunately, there's no website, which, considering the extent of their menu, would be really useful. They have a well printed, four leaf take away menu that you can call in and collect when you are passing.

Lee Garden opts for the latter choice, providing a menu that offers an extensive range of dishes that veer away from the standard Chinese fare of noodles + rice + lemon chicken. Instead, they have a menu that, besides the standards, also offers a selection of less anglicised Oriental dishes. If you are looking for a standard Chinese, and know exactly what you want, go for The Swallow. The food's better there. If you're a little more daring and want to take your tastebuds on a test drive of some new flavours, try the Lee Garden. Even if you don't enjoy the food, you can at least say you've tried it.

Since it was a super windy day, I decided to celebrate Chinese New Year staying in instead; a lot of my usual favourites weren't open since CNY is as big as Christmas in the West, so decided to try Dragon Court. From the look of their menu, it was decently authentic and I refused to celebrate CNY with Westernised Chinese food. All in all, I was incredibly pleased with my meal! Mind, their delivery menu is not as vast as their in-restaurant one, no idea why. However, there's still a relatively decent selection to enjoy! Highlights: ~ Yangzhou Fried Rice -- This is my favourite type of fried rice and Dragon Court definitely did it well. Perfectly cooked and just the right amount of flavour! ~ String Beans -- I adore Chinese string beans. If you don't like them normally, I highly recommend giving it a try Chinese-style, it's absolutely perfect! Went very well with the fried rice. ~ Potstickers -- No juice inside, but really plump and delicious! I would definitely order them again. ~ Ha Gao -- Shrimp dumplings with a rice wrapping, my favourite type of dim sum and Dragon Court definitely did them well. --- If you've read my reviews before, you know that I'm really picky when it comes to delicious authentic Chinese food. I give Dragon Court my stamp of approval - they certainly delivered on the goods! **BONUS: Kudos to the man who delivered to us fighting the heavy winds to get to our doorstep!

Service is usually good with a majority of Chinese-English bilingilual staff. Highlights: The egg custard buns with the liquid centre! Also the usual dim sum fare; har kau, siu mai are good. The three roast rice is a personal favourite. Tips: You can ask for a bigger teapot if you have a large party and don't want to ask to refil it constantly. Edit: The chef has since changed, and food/ quality of service has been inconsistent, bit i still maintain that its my favourite place for dimsum in Cardiff.

Take no notice of the slightly plain-looking exterior, because inside it's quite smart, very friendly and serves great food every time. Their crispy duck is delicious, as is the grilled satay chicken - and besides many meat dishes they also have some lovely fish mains on the menu, including dishes with Monkfish, Scallops and Red Snapper - and plenty of veggie options. Apart from offering a varied menu, they also have a number of Set Menus which are good for sharing - offering excellent value. I've only ever eaten here in the evening, and didn't realise until reading other reviews that they also serve dim sum in the afternoons - so that's now on my list of things to try sometime!

It is incredibly well maintained, despite the general dilapidated look of the immediate area surrounding it. I would go so far as to say that this is the best Chinese restaurant in Cardiff, it's certainly my favourite. Renowned for their inexpensive dim sum on a Sunday, getting a seat can be pretty tricky. But they serve dim sum every night - you just have to ask for the special menu. The staff are great, they'll stop to have a laugh and joke if you are inclined to get conversational, but regardless of this the service is prompt. They really know what they're doing. The interior is light and airy with well spaced tables and decent décor. It's easy to spot a well cared for restaurant, and the food always corresponds to the standards
