I was actually thinking about switching to the spray tan service next summer - until yesterday.
After 2 consecutive "month to month packages", we were considering a change to much higher priced, but "on demand" service due to our very busy schedules that often made it difficult for us to take advantage of service we'd previously purchased. Instead, we were encouraged to purchase a 6 month unlimited package to take advantage of discount. We did so, knowing we'd likely not use full contract term.
We haven't been there in over 2 months in spite of continued payment obligations to fulfill our contract. (We agreed to the payments for 6 months. Period.)
What a rude surprise - to see $200 withdrawn from our checking account in the month following our contract term expiration, so we called asking for a refund. (It didn't occur to me - to dig out a contract for what I thought to be a simple tanning package, signed 7 months ago!)
What they don't TELL you (what it's up to you to READ - in 6 point font - in their 3 page, 1-sided-legal-speak-language-to-protect-their-revenue) contract - eagerly pushed by a relatively new employee with a quota, as she continues to check people in, sell product or cater to others regarding the owner's MLM business, also operated from the store - is that in order to stop monthly payments beyond the term of the contract, you must drive there, in person - and submit a request in WRITING. Until you do so, not only will they continue to take their monthly fee, but under no circumstances, will they issue a refund - in spite of the fact, their "contract" had been fulfilled as agreed - where their MONEY is concerned.
We were regular customers for 8 continuous months; had 1 instance where a payment didn't go through due to a cancelled (compromised) debit card. They were on the phone within minutes wanting this resolved (which we did!), yet not 1 time in the final month of their contract term, did it occur to them to call and ask or remind... "your [not used in 2+ months] service agreement is about to expire - do you want to cancel, or do you want us to keep charging you $200 a month for service you no longer use?"
Regardless of how good or bad you may find the salon and the spray tanning service, as a small, local business, they have absolutely no concern for customer relations. The owner was perfectly willing to stake her business reputation on her lack of integrity and greed. This attitude from someone, who at the same time, puts her "Christianity" on display when she's in her store?
Golden Palm is a small business not worthy of your heard earned money... because for them - your money is all that matters.
Solarium (and many others) are rated much better - and may operate their business in a little more ethical way! read more
