Paul is friendly and knowledgeable, and Kennedy is always responsive, answering all my questions promptly. Andrew and Miguel were the installers, and they were friendly and polite, which made the process even easier than I expected. They were also very respectful of the space and extremely careful when moving things around the house. Their installation work was flawless. The transformation turned out exactly how I hoped. They truly brought my vision to life. I chose a greenish-gray color that complements the rest of my home, and I was going for a super modern look--they delivered exactly what I imagined. This company clearly cares about his customers, and at no point did I feel pressured. Refacing made so much sense! They can reface all the cabinets throughout the house, not just in the kitchen. That's what I did, so make sure to ask about their full home services. From a February 2014 start to the end in mid June, we could not have been more happier in the results. With our small kitchen footprint and some of our needs, wants and ideas collated, Janis incorporated this into a couple designs which we then narrowed down into a concise end single product. The cabinets turned out fantastic and with the space slightly re-worked, not to mention new appliances, the kitchen feels a dream to be in. Design Build also managed the construction of the kitchen/living room skylight well which was worth every time and money spent, opened up our small space even further, and feels like a piece of architecture in its own right; re-lighting in the kitchen space to match the new area perfectly including LED uplit in the sky well; the complete re-painting of the exterior and interior of the house; a remodeled contemporary fireplace that is stunning to look at thanks to the unique tiles sourced by Brigette and Avery; and the overhaul and re-design of our back landscaping so we have a space for our young children to play in. Keeping to our budget was very important to us and Gilmans made sure of this. Yes we did spend some of a contingency but this was for items added into the scope. So thank you Janis and to all the team at Design Build - Sean, Brigette, Avery, Alex and Phil. Paul and Cara

He was very professional and had all the tools necessary to install the European cabinets. His attention to detail and patience is a rarity in the current crowded home remodeling landscape. In our case, fixing a poorly installed job was even more challenging. Jam was able to spot and fix all the issues including the hidden ones. For example, the built in fridge cavity was too small for the fridge. He patiently figured out a way. He also discovered the upper cabinets were not secured properly to the wall and posed severe potential life threatening danger. Thank goodness Jam to the rescue. We learnt the hard way that European cabinets installation is non trivial. General contractors might claim they can do the job - our experience was quite disastrous. Ideally we should have used the same team to design and install - must include appliances (most cabinet makers don't offer such service) Jam provides the end to end service - if only we found him a year ago; would have saved us so much pain and trouble. If you want European cabinets like the ones you see in magazines, give Jam a call. We wholeheartedly recommend him.

Backstory: We had hired a random handyman (NOT Ian) to rebuild our ~20 year old kitchen drawers as the wood was starting to split. That guy completely messed everything up - the drawers were the wrong size, no longer slid smoothly, and were completely misaligned with one another and the existing cabinet doors. Ian came in and fixed this mess in record time. He gave me a same-day estimate, had a team ready to start work the day after, and rebuilt my doors + refinished my cabinets faster than expected. His price was very reasonable - his quote for dovetailed soft close drawer boxes were in line with what prior handymen were quoting me for basic plywood builds. On top of all that, with the new slide setup, my new drawers are somehow slightly bigger than my old ones! Overall, I'm very very happy with Ian's work and wish I had just hired him from the start.
