Then find out the didn't have any cooked and it would be 8 mins and to pull over they'd bring it out. 20 mins later still nothing so inside to find out. After dealing with one of the rudest fast food workers I've seen who tried to tell me it was my fault they didn't have any ready. And of course no manager anywhere. I eat here several times a week, When they're not busy, they're always friendly and go out of their way to make me feel welcome. I only ever get the chicken tenders and fries, but they're almost always fresh and well cooked. Every once in a while, the tenders will seem a little bit old, but they're still pretty good. That might happen every 15 or 20 visits if I showing up just before closing or something like that. It's a rarity. There's almost always more chicken than I actually ordered. The interior of the restaurant is just kind of averaged. It's your run of the mill fast food place inside. read more

arrived an hour & a half prior to closing. the employee in the blue shirt, saw us coming & promptly hurried to lock the door, forcing us to use the drive thru. however, at the window when asked what time the lobby closed, the employee looked very confused & said "9:00?" i told her that an employee saw us coming & locked the door. she apologized & let us inside (we're traveling & really didn't want to eat in the car) while we were inside the blue shirt employee slammed chairs into tables around us. they also turned away 2 other costumers & locked the door even though the sign outside states "lobby open until 9:00p." thank you to the one kind employee who made sure we were helped. read more

The wait may seem a little long but some items are made fresh, so awaiting fresh food is anticipated. I have been here a few times and my favorite items are the tortilla soup, chalula-la sandwich w/ cheese in white gravy, dirty rice, rolls, tenders, roasted chicken and tenders. The topper is the chocolate chip cookies and their sugar cane tea ( half sweet / half unsweet). The fried catfish is pretty good and compatible with Cajun King or Catfish cove. I did try the corn dog but I wasn't that impressed... So I am glad that promo went away. The fried chicken is pretty good but I try to stay away from fried foods if I can help it. read more

We went here last week, the dining room was closed (covid, I guess ) & the drive through was about 12 cars deep! My assumption would be that its going to be great! (WRONG!) Fish was cooked in dirty grease, dark, crunchy, disgusting! Tried calling to ask a question while in drive through (NO ANSWER) Tried calling next day about our food around 1:45pm (NO ANSWER) Called Corporate in Tx to voice my concern, They have a prompt for"Complaints/Concerns" so I'm knowing my call is "business as usual "! Of course you have to leave a message. I did...twice. No return call from them either which made it a bit easier to understand how the local establishment could be so raggedy! The golden chick in Midwest city is trash, my husband and granddaughter went there 6/13/2023 and got a $40.00 dollar order which was chicken strip meal, when they mad it home it was HARD VERY HARD chicken strips & I was suppose to be mash potatoes and rolls, but they put 3 large gravy no potatoes. So my husband call them and told they what was in our order, the person the phone said bring it back and we'll see about replacing it, mind you we stay 30mins from gchick. I come here routinely in the spring during lent with work. The service has always been good and the food hot and fresh. I would consider Golden Chick to be one of your typical fried chicken restaurant with a southern twist. Yes, yes fried chicken is good old southern food, but the addition of fried catfish is not a typical thing you see in other fried chicken establishments. This location has always been very clean with the food being very hot and freshly made. The biggest disappointment has been the ice cream maker. It always seems to be broken when I come here. This will continue to be one of those routine lunch spots for me and my coworkers. read more

Promp service with a smile as soon as I walked in. Menu has lots of selection to choose from. You can get baked or fried chicken. Their corn nuggets were ok. Same goes for the Jalapeño poppers. Please keep in mind that this a fast food restaurant so I'm not expecting culinary excellence. Therefore, for what it is it's not bad. You serve your own drink so you can fill up before you leave. Now for the main course. Chicken strips. They are very good and they come with an excellent yeast roll. The yeast rolls are fantastic. Best part of the meal. We like the taste of the fried chicken, and our kids, 4 & 7, love both the chicken and the okra (they are very picky eaters). We always use the drive through, and know that it will take a while...the chicken is always freshly cooked, and that explains the delay. We go about 15 minutes earlier to allow for that. Cooking takes time, the alternative is time under a warmer, this is better. Golden Chick has a garlic flavor that no other fast food chicken has, and it is always hot and fresh, well worth the wait. The rolls are heavenly. For the 7 year old's birthday, last night we got the catfish instead of chicken, and it was out of this world! Everyone loved it, and we will certainly do that again. For fast food chicken, we don't go anywhere else any more. I think the same will be true of the cat fish. read more

Stopped in 11-4-18 my mom,sister and myself okra was cold took back to counter Manager said no okra just came up I said then taste one he did then he says it's because the dining area is cold ( which it was not) finally he gives us some fresh okra then a piece of my mom's chicken was red and still bleeding the manager comes to the table puts his dirty fingers on my mom's chicken and says "it's done this is the marrow of the chicken that's why it's bleeding" I asked my mom if she would like another piece (which she did not) he then says I will not replace the chicken I said to him I didn't ask you to.When they first opened the good was good but since the Asian man bought it the service and food is horrible needless to say we left without finishing the meal. Food - 3 stars Service - 1 star Store Intangibles - 2 stars I pass this place multiple times a day and finally stopped in to try the chicken. From the moment I walked in the door, this was not a pleasant experience. Well, I take it back, the menu didn't look so bad. The place wasn't overtly dirty, but it felt unclean. The staff did not strike me as very competent, but they were able to get my order correct at least. The main problem I had with this place was the amount of time it took to even be able to place an order let alone get my food. This eatery is in a similar line to KFC or Popeyes or any other number of fast food chicken places and there really wasn't too much difference in the price or food. Chicken and sides were all precooked and sitting in warming tins under heat lamps. The yeast rolls at least seemed to be fairly fresh and were surprisingly refreshing. I got a chicken tender sandwich combo and at 5 bucks, thought it to be a fair deal. The sandwich consisted of 2 chicken tenders on a yeast roll. I actually really liked the chicken sandwich. The roll was excellent. Had a nice sweet flavor to it and was incredibly soft and fluffy. The tenders were very juicy, but didn't have a lot of flavor in and of themselves. I couldn't really discern any spices to flavor the chicken. The BBQ sauce was mistakenly left off the sandwich so I can't comment on the quality of the condiments, but the sandwich tasted great with just a little bit of ketchup. The side item with the combo was your typical fast food staple, of course, the french fry. Unfortunately, these fries were terrible! They were crinkle cut fries, the kind you would find straight out of grocers frozen section. They weren't overly mushy at least, but these fries were as bland as bland comes. No salt and no flavor from the frying oil. Just plain awful. Even a healthy dose of ketchup and added salt and pepper could not salvage this atrocity. If I ever go back, and this is a big if, I will certainly be trying the mashed potatoes or mac and cheese as opposed to ever ordering the fries again. At least this place offered a decent size drink with the meal. 32 ounces of coke helped wash down the fries that I tried to eat. I personally could not recommend this place based on this particular experience. Certainly not any better than any of the other fast food places. If you are just a huge chicken or catfish fan perhaps, give it a try just to diversify, otherwise just stick to your usual haunt. read more

Golden chick was my absolute favorite place to get fried chicken until the evening of August 14th 2013. I ordered my usual number 2 which is the chicken strip meal. The following morning about 3am I woke up with horrible chest and stomach pain with unbelievable continues vomiting which resulted in me being rushed to the Emergency room. After close monitoring, the General Practitioner ruled that my sickness was a result of food poisoning. Mind you I hadn't eaten or drank anything after the meal from Golden Chick. I contacted the corp office about my sickness and within 10mins the GM from the store called asked what they could help with. I asked if they are willing to pay the remaining medical bills that my personal ins wouldn't cover. I was advised by the GM to provide the bills and they would be sure to take care of them. Lets fast forward.... It's now Oct 3rd 2013 the bills have been submitted and their insurance has denied paying the claim. At this point they are refusing to pay any of my medical bills they originally agreed to take care of!!! A $10.42 meal has cost me a few thousand dollars out of pocket.
