I hired Golden Boy in May 2024 to move most of my possessions into storage. When I returned, I noticed they had been careless and broken some items. I am disappointed by that but even more upset because they haven't taken responsibility for it or compensated me for the damage. I haven't gotten even a single return call or e-mail from the owner. I am beginning to think they don't have the legally required insurance, because if they did, they could have easily made a claim 4 months ago when I first contacted them. Instead, I've been stuck with a broken TV and a broken bedside table for nearly 5 months now. The tl;dr version: Because Golden Boy's employees wasted my storage space, they had to cram a lot of things in the front of the unit and thus broke some expensive items, including the TV, whose screen wasn't protected or wrapped properly at all. I was out of state for 16 months, so I didn't know anything was broken until I came back in October 2025. I immediately called and left messages for Oscar Gonzalez and sent him e-mail, but he is now conveniently unreachable. I have gotten no reply to my e-mails (with receipts attached) or voice messages, so I have not been compensated for the broken TV or the antique table with the splintered shelf. I need the old TV to prove it's broken, so I'm stuck with it taking up space in my apartment. Their website says "no excuses" and "100% satisfaction" but I haven't gotten a response from Oscar at all, just empty promises. On moving day, I had to be at my house directing traffic and clearing out my fridge, so I did not see their work at the storage space. I gave $330 cash to my realtor to tip the men. He got the padlock keys from them; all he said was that the space was very full and mailed me the keys. I lived with friends in Maine for 16 months after that. When I returned and opened the door, I that's when I noticed a lot of fragile items piled up at the front, including antique furniture and my television. Among the items I stored were two steel storage cabinets and a large industrial storage shelf. But instead of using the cabinets to store any of the dozens of boxes, the cabinets were left empty and the boxes were stacked on the floor. Then they ran out of space and put very heavy boxes on the little shelf, breaking it. I'm really tired of movers being careless with my furniture. I am not a celebrity but I deserve to have my possessions treated with care. read more

Oscar reached out to me within minutes of me requesting a quote. The quote was below rates I was getting from larger vendors. He was able to remove the junk a few hours later, which I know is mainly due to the luck of timing, but he was also very communicative and showed up when he said he would. This has been such a relief because I had contractors who were supposed to dispose of this after repairs were made to home over week ago, and pickup kept getting delayed. Small businesses that are super communicative def get my support. read more
