A Horrible Bank - JaneWatkins - Thursday, October 27, 2011…read more- 11:40 AM I opened a personal and business account with American Bank of Texas, NA on Adams drive in Temple Texas last year with over $30000.00. From the beginning I had problems with bank policies that required I come to the bank in person for things that other banks are able to handle over the phone. I decided it would get better as time went on. But it DID NOT get better, it got worse. I had my income tax return check sent to my account and they sent it back to the government!!! I was told I would have to sign something and then I could contact the government and have them send it again. It took me almost a month to get my return money. " They refused to cash a check I had given to a contractor when I had 10X's that amount in the account. Again I had to go in person to rectify the situation. After numerous other problems, to many to list, I went today to close my account and they refused to give me cash. They would only give me a cashiers check and when I ask why the only explanation I received was, "It is bank policy" This seems to be the only answer they have for anything. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ALL DAY TO SPEND AT YOUR BANK THEN DON'T USE THIS BANK!!!!!!!

But when it was time to renew my policy they didn't give me the discount they said I would get when I originally started with them. I hate being lied to so I dropped them and started looking at other companies. I thought State Farm was going to be one of the highest but decided I'd check anyway. I'm glad I did because they dropped me down to only $20/mo. which even included roadside assistance! And a lot of companies will terminate your policy at midnight if it's not paid exactly on the due date, but I've been 4 days late and was still covered! Oh!, and no late fee either. Highly recommend!!! P.S...After reading the other review, which was a 1 star review that claimed that everyone who worked at the agency was extremely rude, I felt that I needed to add that I've spoken with a couple different people there and was treated with respect and courtesy and nothing less!
