My fiance has gotten his hair buzzed here with Omar about every 2-3 weeks for the last two years (ever since we moved to the neighborhood!) He always comes back looking fresh and fine. He also says it's so easy to schedule online and get in to see his barber with tons of flexibility. We appreciate the cash only with reasonable prices. Easiest recommendation ever. Always nothing but problems at this place. I've came to this location three times because it is only steps away from my apartment, but after today I won't step foot into this circus again. Today I called ahead, asked if Apple Pay would be okay, I was told it's fine "we'll make it work" I expressed to them I am going to leave work early and asked for assurance if Apple Pay would suffice. I was assured it would be. I get into the chair, mention to my barber the guy on the phone said Apple Pay was okay, my barber said no, and told me he would have to cancel the appointment. Such a waste of time. Not to mention the last three cuts were mediocre, I'm not a style freak and didn't mind the previous less than satisfactory work because of convenience, but if you don't have Zelle don't bother coming to this place. You can literally go anywhere else. read more

I've been going to Gold Cuts for the past three years and have had the best experience every time. The environment is welcoming and has been recently remodeled to truly provide a great barber shop experience. The attention to detail for my haircut is what keeps me coming back and addition to the great service. If you need a fresh cut, I can guarantee that you will not leave here unsatisfied. Gold Cuts - Fade - Barbers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

First time and very impressed. They definitely know what they're doing and take their time to deliver. Will be back 2nd time: Definition of a hit or miss. I asked for a quarter inch off and come back essentially bald with open ends everywhere. Not sure the quality of their cuts is consistent. Could also be inexperienced new hires since the original barber I used to work with is no longer there. Sadly, now I'm stuck with this crappy haircut for a month. read more

A neighborhood barber shop where you can go and hang out while getting a nice fade and cut. Appointment is recommended. Mostly Spanish speaking, but google translate works just fine! Went on a Friday and they had a dj which made it a fun experience. No frills, just thrills. read more

Yesterday, December 29, 2024, I visited this store for the first time, and I must say it was an incredible experience. I met Sam and told him that I wanted to change my hairstyle for the first time since I was born. Sam was amazing--he came up with a really good and perfect hairstyle that suited me so well! I couldn't be happier with the result. Thank you, Sam, for your expertise and for making this experience memorable! I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended! read more

My appointment was 4:25 pm 7/29/24. I showed up on time. RayJ was not there and did not show up. I waited 30 minutes. The female barber said she did not know if he was coming in. I decided to try them out because the barbershop is usually busy. I'm thinking they must be good. I also like the pictures of customers' haircuts. I will not go back. First impression means a lot to me. I will give them one star because of the proximity to home. read more

Gold Cuts - Terrible Fade - Barbers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Arrived a couple of minutes before my appointment start time. Checked in with one of the barbers and he asked me to sit down and wait. 10 minutes past my appointment time and I'm still waiting while one of the barbers is just hanging out. I check in again with the guy who asked me to sit down and he tells me I need to wait for ANOTHER 10 minutes. I politely remind him that my appointment time was more than 10 minutes ago and that's when he began yelling at me. Saying that he can't just leave his client mid-way through a haircut, which I understand, but I also told him that my appointment was supposed to be with anyone who's available. He raised his voice again and asked me to just wait. I'm a conflict-averse person but at that point, I decided not to be disrespected like that and just walked out. He shouted, "Have a good day" behind me in a sarcastic and mocking tone. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day, or if he was discriminating against me because I didn't look like the usual clientele of this barbershop. Either way, save your money and go to a place that doesn't berate its customers. read more

Started taking my son here for his haircuts and let me tell you as soon as I swung that door open I was greeted by the lovely gentlemen and being a woman did not feel uncomfortable. I always make an appointment through booksy with Omar and he is always on time and my son feels so comfortable with him. The vibes are great, their playlists are bumping and it's always a good time when we go in. 1000% recommend coming here and on top of it, it is very clean! You will not be disappointed I drive 40 minutes just for my son to get his haircut! read more

I was in today to get a haircut after seeing the shop as I walked by. In my case, I got a fade on the sides and some of the bulk on the top removed. All in all, I'd say it was a positive experience. The barber I had (younger guy) was skilled in his craft. I loved that he knew how to use the clippers to do the fade. Also, he did a great job with using the blade to cleanup the nape area. The $20.00 charge for the haircut seemed reasonable. I tipped $5.00 just because it seemed right. That said, I have a few sugguestions for the owner. Mind you, none of this takes away from my giving 5-stars. 1. Get a coat rack for people to hang thier jackets. 2. Get more than two chairs for waiting. When I was there, only two were available. Please people don't want to sit on window-silll pillows. 3. The owl picture is cool. Why not put more of that stuff up? 4. Put up a sign somewhere that tells people your prices. Finally, know that the neighborhood you are in has lots of LGBT folks. A pride sticker in the window will tell people you support the community. Watch how your business increases if you do this. ‍ You have a wonderful shop in a neighborhood that has desperately needed a barbershop for years. It's great to have you guys here! read more

My only suggestion is to provide some additional chairs and an additional coat rack. read more

Arrived for my 2:15 Saturday appointment at 2:14, turned out the barbershop was closed. Then I saw a text message received at 2:13 that my appointment was cancelled, two minutes notice. Tried to call, no response. I waited for 15 minutes, to no avail, so I had to leave. Sorry, I haven't got all day. Very unprofessional and disrespectful, will never come here again. read more

Go at your own risk! The gentleman that cut my hair did a half ass job and because they don't take credit card I had to pay $25 plus the ATM fees. Once I saw just how bad of a job of a cut it was, I ended having to go to another barber to fix everything that Goldcuts did wrong. Needless to say I will not be returning. read more

Gold Cuts - Got the warm towel shampoo and fade - Barbers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

There are a lot of places in Chicago to get your hair cut. Why do I travel 45 minutes each way on the CTA to go to Gold Cuts? Andrew. Andrew has been cutting my hair every 2 weeks for over a year now, and if I have it my way, for years to come. Reasons why (in no particular order): 1) Attention to Detail - Andrew painstakingly goes over his work before sending me on my way to make sure that my haircut is perfect. I've never once gotten home and found a stray hair that was missed. I honestly believe that he cares more about the way my hair looks than I do. 2) Personal Relationship - He takes the time to get to know his clients. Each time I'm in, he checks in with me on personal details from our previous conversation weeks ago. It's amazing to me that with all of his clients, he's able to keep it all straight. It truly feels like I'm hanging out with a friend for 30 minutes who happens to be cutting my hair. 3) Price - I'd happily pay double for the quality and service, and haven't found better pricing for a true barber in Chicago. 4) Ease of Access - Simple, to the point, no frills, online scheduling system. 5) Listens - The first time I saw him, I described the look I was going for and he took it slow, making sure the length was right, etc... After that, he committed it to memory and now I just sit down in his chair and he cuts it perfectly every time. I've lived in 9 different cities in the last 10 years and I can confidently say that Andrew is the best barber I've come across. I always leave in a better mood because of his friendly demeanor and how much better I look walking out then I did walking in. Check him out. You will NOT regret it. read more

Found this place walking my dog. I live in Buena park but have not had luck finding a good ( even decent) barber in the area. This place evidently just opened within the year and the guy that owns it is highly experienced. Took a risk and got my haircut here today , and am so happy I did. Awesome cut. Very detailed. A good neighborhood (not a chain!) spot. The haircuts are great. The barber always remebers your name when you walk by (though I can't remember his right now). He rally takes his time. That's good because you get an outstanding haircut. however, that means appointments don't start on time. There is always a line, but you can book easily online through the website. Highly recommended as a barber and a local biz! read more

Scheduling an appointment is easy enough, just log onto the website and reserve or give him a call. No complaints at all. I have been one of those people my whole life who said that great clips or whatever type of place like that is fine for me, after all it's just a hair cut right? Well, wrong. At 27 I figured I'd try a real barber. Andrew was awesome and knew exactly what he was doing. Wish I would have found this place earlier. Prices are very reasonable for what I have seen looking at other barbers price lists. Definitely will be back in a few weeks. read more
