I found Goetz contracting while searching Angie's List for someone to build a deck off the back of our home. It wasn't just a straightforward deck install as we also needed to have three windows removed in order to install a french door to get out onto the deck, as we didn't have any exterior doors near where we wanted the deck. I called and Michael Goetz (the owner of the company) answered to my surprise! I told him what we wanted and he gave me an estimated cost over the phone. We talked several more times as we were trying to decide exactly what we wanted and what was possible. He was always responsive and reachable, never pushy or annoyed and would give me an updated possible start date each time we talked. I was always ready to leave a voicemail for him, but rarely got a chance because he usually answers! We signed the contract for the deck and to remove windows in our dining room and install a french door so we could access the new deck. He gave a completion date and an idea of the start date. He kept me in the loop the entire time leading up to the start date and when he thought they may be able to start a little ahead of schedule he gave advanced notice. The materials were delivered and the crew showed up when promised. From day one the guys on his crew were pleasant, polite and I enjoyed having them here. They worked well together and each have a specific thing to do, but help each other out. They humored me as I was always out there walking around gawking and taking pictures. They were always asking how I liked everything so far. Mike checked in with both the guys and me throughout the whole project. If I had any concerns, they were addressed quickly. Mike's brother Steve Goetz, and the rest of the crew (Dave, Steve, Cody, Skip, Dan and a few more) did a beautiful job from start to finish and they worked tirelessly in some really bad weather (freezing cold, sleet and snow). I hired GOETZ CONTRACTING to renovate our deck. Initially, I felt that I agreed to a bit "exaggerated" estimate. But being busy I agreed to it. I no longer think I overpaid. These people are truly professional, hardworking and eager to please. The crew of 4 was on the job promptly at 8 AM and worked nonstop until 5 PM (sometimes even later) every single day. Sometimes it rained, but they would install a little tent above the area and continued working. They work very well together. They help each other. They like each other. They are like that because they truly like what they do. There was a problem with the quality of some lumber delivered by the lumberyard. I pointed it out to Michael Goetz only after the lumber was already installed on the deck. Although, they were obviously a little upset with the fact that they have to remove it, exchange it, wait for new delivery, etc., etc., they did it. Michael and I estimated that the job should take 5 days. But with the lumber exchange it actually took 9 days. After the last screw was in place, they took the time to clean everything and even pressure washed the newly constructed deck. Highly recommended! Mike, Steve and the team at Goetz Contracting transformed the curb appeal of our home. A big wrap around porch is one of the great features of the house, but it was seriously worn and outdated. Goetz took out all the skinny decorative 4x4 beige posts/spindles and weak railings. They padded out the main beam on all three sides of the house and wrapped it perfectly with aluminum, installed 23 new 6x6 posts with PVC post wraps, and finished with solid Trex Transcend railings and spindles all in white. The second floor balcony off the primary bedroom was totally restructured and then remodeled to match the lower porch plus the addition of beautiful Trex Enhance composite decking. From start to finish communication from Mike was perfect, Steve and the team worked hard and treated our home as if it was their own. Plus they're good guys. Goetz Contracting did a wonderful job with our deck and partial roof project. Mike worked with us to help make some decisions on the style of the deck and made some great recommendations. He went the extra effort to find materials to match with the colors we selected and we're beyond happy with the results. We now have a beautiful deck that we will thoroughly enjoy during all seasons. We hired Mike Goetz and crew to tear down our old deck and have a new one built (25x14 ). Mike agreed to a fair estimate during these Covid -19 times. The work was to start in Dec as per contract. The work started on time and a team of 4 workers worked diligently every day for about 9 days, never wasted any time, promptly showed up at 8:00 am every day, and left around 4:30 pm. The crew worked hard to meet the requirements of the Borough of Franklin Park and maintain safety standards. Truly a committed team.
