GODOWN dog park is a free public dog park. At the far entrance there is a water spigot for filling your dogs dish and washing your dog off. There is a double gated pass through at each of the two areas. Poop bags and trash cans are available on site. There are two large fenced in areas, one for dogs 25 pounds or less (Oatie's area) and the other for dogs 25 pounds or more. Both have shaded areas and sunny areas with benches and play equipment. Since both areas are fenced in, dogs can run freely. Oatie loves chasing other dogs and being chased over grassy hilly areas. GODOWN dog park is a 5 minute drive from my daughter's townhouse complex so when visiting I take Oatie to the park often. This park is very popular so I have never visited the park with at least one other dog being present. Other dog owners here seem to be caring and dog lovers, as well. read more

Godown is a great dog park with ample of parking. There are fenced separate areas for small and large dogs. We frequent both sides of the park as our miniature Aussie is about 28 lbs. Each side of the two parks have a double gated pass through, poop bag dispensers, and trash cans. Both sides have benches and plenty of trees to provide shade. Folks here are generally friendly. It's a pretty popular dog park. We've never been here when there weren't dogs for our dog to play with. (Unlike some of the other parks we've visited in the Columbus area.) There's a spigot near the entrances beside the portajohn. Great for a quick rinse off of a muddy dog or for filling up the communal water jugs that you find on both sides of the dog parks. read more

TOO MANY SNOOTY PPL HERE FOR ME!! I have a cane Corso who is aggressive but we're working on distractions and recall! I have her muzzle on her at all times because I don't know how she will do! People here see the muzzle and don't want their dog around mines or they say mean stuff. Now I've had to check a few people. My dog is very well trained and after they see how well she is trained they back off but still don't want their dog around mines! It's cool tho. I just moved into the area and thought this would be a really great place for my dog to get used to other dogs and to work on distractions and her recall but people are going to be people. Diamond loved playing with the other dogs. (Who's parent let their dog around mines) but I probably will just go back to my old neighborhood and take her there where their not so snooty!!! Ok, it's close to my house which is why I go here. Too many ignorant bad owners being irresponsible here. BITING AND LATCHING ON IS NOT PLAY!!!!! Mouthing play has no pressure. Every 1 out of 5 experiences are bad. Too many morbidly obese people take their dogs here because they are lazy. They just sit and never even watch their dogs. I've gotten in a few fights with lazy irresponsible owners while trying to protect my dog. Never go here Sunday afternoon. Park is good. Some owners make it bad. read more

Part of my new self-care routine is exploring nearby parks with my furbaby, 15lbs Daschund/Terrier mix. This morning was our 3rd time visiting Godown park and it was a horrible experience the moment we stepped out of the car. These two very ignorant dog owners sitting on the bench in the small dog area, with one small dog and a three-legged pitbull - again, in the SMALL dog area. As I approached to at least find out if the dogs were approachable and friendly, these ignorant folks behaved with another level of caucasity and privilege. I agree with Ms. Octavia M. who posted previously that the park itself is very nice but the people/dog owners can make it very unpleasant for others. My furbaby and I didn't stay and instead drove to the park up the street. There would have been no reasonable world where as a Black woman, if I would have match that same mean spirited energy towards them that I would have been well within my rights, so it was best that I traveled the high road and leave. It's too bad that people are still this ugly and mean for no apparent reason. My advice to newcomers, if you visit Godown, be careful of these two ignorant people, with the three-legged pitbull in the small dog area, bullying and preventing others from enjoying a public facility. read more

The weather was beautiful today so we visited this dog park. I have a 5 year old shihtzu and she had a great time! Since it was a beautiful day, it was full of furry friends! Since getting a dog who loves to play frisbee and can socialize with other dogs, I've been here several times. I didn't notice the no toys or treats rule the first few times. My dog is the one that will go after other dogs who dare to look at her frisbee so I totally understand the rule. She's large so I've only been in the large dog area. It has two entrances. We haven't explored every corner but it's certainly a good size for large dogs. There's wooded areas, flat grassy areas, and hilly grassy areas. There's an agility tunnel for the dogs, and park benches for the owners. Water dishes have been placed around the various congregation spots. Owners, in general, are pretty friendly and interested in talking to you about your dog. Due to Covid, the water fountains have been turned off. Bring your own water and hand sanitizer. read more

We've been going to Godown for years and we always have been happy with it! When we just had the collie, we would go to the large dog side. But since getting the corgi, we like to go on the small dog side. The collie prefers little dogs anyway, so it works out! The small dog side is a little bit smaller than a large dog side, but it's never been an issue for the dogs. Plus it's easier to keep track of your dogs on the small side. We always meet such kind folks and cute doggies here too. Highly recommend! read more

I was in search of a good dog park for my puppy Bella and many Yelper's suggested this place to me. So yesterday I decided to come out and give it a try and my puppy loved it. Even though her face may have not shown it. She had a good time chasing the others small dogs around. What I like about this dog park is it's sectioned into two areas for the small dogs and then the bigger dogs in the next area. Therefore, the big dogs can't hurt these small dogs under 25 pounds. My dog tends to be scared of bigger dogs so interacting with a dog about her size is perfect. Plus I really like socializing my pet with others because I do feel bad when she's stuck at home all day with no one else to play with. She needs that time to just be free and run around. That's what Godown Dog Park provides is an ample area for her to get muddy and have some good ole fun with other pets. If you are in the northwest area and want a fun park to take your dog to consider Godown Dog Park. Your pet will love it and so will you. read more

Godown Dog Park is one of the better dog parks in northwest Columbus. It's got areas for big and small dogs. There's lots of room in both. It's often kept very clean. There's also facilities like a water fountain. I like that the fence is good at separating the dogs. In a lot of dog parks it's easy for dogs to get over or through it. This allows for less worries that smaller dogs will be hurt by bigger dogs. Another thing good about this one is they provide complimentary poop bags. There's also a water fountain to fill up bowls and wash hands. It could use some more trash cans. They also sometimes have the water all shut off. If you want to visit a bigger dog park then Godown Dog Park is for you. It has some good facilities and there's lots of running around room. There are many dog parks in Columbus but this is among the better ones. read more

The area was nice and there were two open areas, one for small and large dogs... the third area looked roped off. Wow. This dog park is next level. Lots and lots of trees because the dog park is a tree conservation! The trees really help to break up wind on cold windy days. The large dog area is big enough that if you want to sneak off to play fetch with your dog alone(ish) that's totally an option (or if you're like me and you want to sneak away from the general population for a minute just to take some pictures of your pooch!) As with most dog parks I really don't recommend for a rainy day as it gets very very muddy! That being said the trees provide amazing shade during the hot summer months. The rules at this dog park are the same as most. No treats or toys of your own (which I fail to follow every single time obviously because of my previous comment about playing fetch!) and tbh I don't really understand that rule because I live in an apartment, as do a lot of people at the dog park. I have no where to play fetch with my dog besides the dog park. It's silly to make a rule that I can't bring a ball. I get that it can cause resource guarding aggression but ‍ Anyway it's an amazing dog park. There's a tunnel in the large dog section. I won't leave a huge review, as there are plenty of in depth ones for this park already. I just have to say, I've been going to this park since I first got my dog last year and it never fails to amaze. The parks are large, both for small and large dogs, there's plenty of areas to sit and rest or stand out of the way of dogs barreling down the hill, and the water fountain nearby means thirsty puppies will never stay that way for long. When I first came, there were some mud issues, but since then the park has been laying mulch in order to combat that and it's worked wonders. The grass has been growing in strong, even with daily use by tons of dogs. This is truly a phenomenal park. read more

Dogs need green spaces and places too. They need a place to exercise, sniff around, play in the mud, and just be a canine. Or else they'll take that cooped-up-in-the-house-all-day energy and take it out on your sofa, cloths, or precious keepsake. Godown Dog Park is a perfect place to take your dog to run off his energy and keep the destruction at bay. Recently I was tasked with watching a friends Jack Russell while he was in convalescence. It was bump-and-go at first, seeing that it had been 20-years since I owned a dog. But bringing the Puss Pup here ( I call him that because he doesn't play rough; I would attack him acting like a bear and he'd only lick my hand that was curled like a claw.) really helped the pooch behave better while I was at work. The park is spacey with a fenced in section for both small and large dogs--25 pounds is the demarcation--allowing you to release the hound to explore and be a dog. The small dog section has hoops and tunnels for adventurous pubs to play in. The larger dog section is four-times as large and has a trail, lots of trees, and many squirrels to chase. In good weather the park can get busy. Be sure your pet is not anti-social. There are rules of course: your pet must be licensed and have his shots, you must scoop his poop, you must have him leashed when outside the fenced in areas, common sense stuff. Best dog park I've ever been to, really miss it (I've moved). The friendliest people! Everyone truly knows everyone. Never was there a time no one was there. A group goes there every morning in summer and takes their fold up chairs and socializes under the trees. It was a special time. Lots and lots of shade and tall trees, and logs to sit on. Big side and small side. Really beautiful, particularly on the large side, other than the lack of grass. Unfortunately I took my (at the time) small pup to the large side for his first time, too soon, and wasn't paying attention, and he got flipped on his back by 4 large dogs and was yelping, so he now has trust issues with larger dogs, BUT the large side is so large that later on we could go off on our own and avoid the large dogs who were playing, as his favorite thing to do is chase balls. So you can mingle, or you can go off and be alone as well. Living in a smallish condo, my dog NEEDED offleash time! The drawbacks, and why I can't give it 5 stars? It can get VERY crowded, particularly on weekends or after work, and the small side is really pretty darn small compared to the large side. Also, there is very little grass there anymore compared to other dog parks I've been to, and it can turn into a mud pit, particularly in winter, early spring. They really need an intermediate area where they can put the dogs temporarily while they reseed the other areas. Now that I've moved, I've really realized that Godown was top notch and a special place I really, really miss! read more

Awesome Dog Park! A coworker referred me to Go-Down Dog Park and told me that it had just opened. It's right across from "Shadow Lakes" apartments. It has ample parking and a section for Small dogs to Play (25lbs and under) and a section for Larger dogs to Play (25lbs +). The play area for larger dogs is roomier. Both have two Divider section entrances to either unleash your dog before entering and to prevent some of them from slipping out of the gate. It's grassy, and there's usually plenty of shade though the Smaller Play area has more grass than the Larger Play area. The information board at the entrance list some events for dogs or training seminars, there's also a pet memorial underneath the information board. The park provides waste disposal baggies at both entrances for both sections and garbage bins. Most Pet Parents pick up behind their dogs, there's some who don't always notice when their dog eliminates and maybe one person who just refuses to pick up behind their dog at all. It doesn't smell like poop but you should watch your step when you're chasing your dog through the grass. The other Pet Parents are friendly and usually have advice or recommend some cool products you could probably use for your dog. It's always nice to sit and chat with the "regulars" o(n_n)o. There's at least 2 Park Benches in the Play areas but if you go when the sun is still intense, they're usually too hot to sit on. So some Pet Parents bring their own chairs or blankets to sit in the shade. I don't believe there's a restroom for the Dog Park but there is a "Port-a-John" you could probably use. The park has paved sections so it is wheelchair accessible. Water fountains are provided for Pet Parents and there's one just for dogs. A few people did warn of Chigger Bites on themselves and their dogs. No one has mentioned their dog getting fleas from the park yet, but we've had that problem at a different dog park. My Peke got kennel cough from sharing water at another dog park , so we bring our own water bottle just to be safe. Some other Pet Parents bring water too but are willing to share. Please be careful when taking your dog out of the car and into the park. It is next to a busy street /train tracks, you wouldn't want your dog to get spooked and dart into the street T_T. I had a really good experience here. I met my friend there with her little doggies. We both have small dogs so we went to the small dog area. The big dog area looks so spacious and there were hills for dogs to run around. Sadly the small dog area doesn't have a hill but still a good size for dogs to mingle. Someone brought in their lab in the small dog area which was fine because s/he was very mild. The owners seems responsible and stayed with their dogs. Highly recommend! read more

This dog park is so wonderful! It's easiest accessible from Worthington, Dublin, UA... Almost anywhere! Our dogs love this huge area. The parks and rec dept really take pride in keeping this clean and maintained! Last year there was a big mud hole that my pup loved to go and literally lie in... I was quite happy that it was filled in completely with wood chips and mulch this year! Even if you have to drive a bit, it's worth it! read more

Beautiful Sunday afternoon, visited the Godown Dog Park with a friend after a late lunch, parking lot was completely full....The park is divided by fencing by small dogs less than 25 pounds and big dogs greater than 25 pounds .. had a puppy so went over to the small dog section , definitely less area - but more than enough aree for Dempsey to make tons of friends ... once inside the park, I took Dempsey off his leash - and he was off!!! I think he ran the first 15 minutes I was there , without stopping !!! So many different dogs , so many different smells , literally a doggy paradise... the people/dog owners are so nice , everyone is chill, smiling happy .. let's face it , dogs are better than people , duh. I didn't enncounter any person who wasn't happy to be there or interested in your breed of dog .. everyone shares their love of dogs and their own personal stories of their wonderful canine :)) first time at the dog park, but what a great way to spend an afternoon - with your bestie (dog), soaking in the sun and playing with lovable dogs .. please if you have a dog you must visit Godown dog park , great way to spend an afternoon or just lift your spirits. read more

My 20 lb. dog was attacked by a 60+lb. dog in the small dog area. Owners of large dog breeds bring their dogs into the small dog area. There is a sign on the gate that states 'small dogs only 25 lbs. or less'. My dog was there for 45 minutes playing and having fun with all of the other small dogs before a golden retriever entered the park. There were 0 incidents, the dogs were running around having fun together- great energy, Then a golden retriever was brought in and not let off of its leash, which most dog owners understand that this changes the energy of the dog as it must remain by its owner and "protect" them. The next thing I know this golden retriever is attacking my dog. My dogs face is bleeding above his right eye. I am extremely angry. Now my dog will wonder if he needs to defend himself at dog parks. If you think that your large dog might be afraid or if they have a history of aggression- do NOT bring them into the little dog park thinking that this will "help" them get over their fears. Small dogs often have high energy and need to run, play, and feel safe. Often times the small dogs can also feel intimidated by the larger breeds. Please be respectful of the small dog area. read more

Took my beautiful canine here for the first time last night and he had a blast! So many trees to pee on and so many butts to sniff. What I liked: the big dog area was fenced in by a sturdy, 5 ft (approximate) fence, which is PERFECT because my doggy can jump a 4ft with no running start. They have bags available to pick up your doggy pooh pooh should he need to "use it" while he's there. They do have water available when you first go into the park. I will say that there were many dog owners who brought additional dog bowls & filled them with water so your dog would not have to go all the way back to the front of the park to get a drink (and of course they shared with everyone...very nice of them). There is a lot of space for your furry baby to run around until he cant run anymore (for mine, that took approximately an hour and a half). There is 1 tunnel, hills, trees & logs for the dogs to play on & jump over. There is also a section for little dogs. I know nothing about this section, other than that fact that it is fenced in too (sorry, I didn't visit that side--my dog is too big). **The only complaint I have is with the owners and not the park or the park's amenities. If you dog poops, PICK IT UP. I saw a couple owners see their dog poop, look & laugh, but didn't get up off their booties to clean it up. It's really not hard to walk 50 ft to pick up some crap then take it to the garbage can. I promise, it's really quite easy. Anywho...I LOVE THIS DOG PARK (and so does my doggie)! read more

I've been to the Godown Dog Park several times since it opened in mid-July. They have areas for big and small dogs, with 25lbs being the dividing weight. My dog is right in the middle, so we've been in both areas. The big dog area is huge with lots of room to run around and play. There are trees and hills, which add interest for the dogs and humans alike. The big dog area will even be expanding back further as soon as the area is ready. The small dog area is much smaller and flatter, but it's great for the littler dogs to run around without being trampled by much larger ones. There are a few things that I don't love, but aren't deal breakers: 1) The gates don't have the typical U-shaped latches to make sure they close tightly. Instead, they're like a half-U, which can easily be pushed from one side. They do have it set up so dogs aren't able to push from the inside out. It's just kind of a pain if you dog tries to push his/her way into the park before you want him/her to. 2) The water fountain is all the way up by the entrance, so you either have to take your dog out of the park for drinks or bring your own water. I just bring my own for convenience. 3) There aren't a lot of benches for owners to sit on while watching their dogs. Either way, this is now my favorite dog park in Columbus. It's easy for me to get to and the people are always friendly. There is plenty of parking and they just installed a rinse-off area so you don't have to have a filthy dog hop in your car. They also provide poop bags for cleanup. The WOOF organization is dedicated to keeping this park nice, so I hope it lasts. read more

I will start by saying this is my favorite dog park in Columbus for several reasons. First, it's more visually interesting to dogs and humans then all the other sterile ,flat, treeless parks around Columbus. There are mature trees, hills, rocks, they have even left some tree stumps for the dogs to climb and explore. There is so many interesting things for my dog to explore. It's very large ( 4 acres) with a separate large and small dog areas. People are friendly and dogs are genially friendly. You are always going to meet a few bad eggs but you'll have that at any park. Since the park is so large you can usually say away from any trouble makers. The park can get muddy as much of the grass is gone but the City of Worthington has put steps to keep the mud down including filling in muddy spots with rocks or mulch. Bags and trash cans and benches are available. Water with a dog wash station is located outside of the park. This could be seen as an inconvenience, but it ensures the park does not have a muddy area of standing water. In short, more interesting then all other parks in the area and it is the closest to my house which makes it tops in my book and my dog Sophie read more

My Lucy doesn't discriminate against dog parks but I sure do. This is my favorite dog park in the city! The dog owners that I've met here are kind, responsible and very interesting to chat with. I've never seen aggressive dogs here either. When things have appeared to get dicey, the owners always jump in and separate their dogs. Lucy and I go at least once a week so that she can wind it up and get her energy out. She always comes home a tired pup! read more

This is my favorite dog park, by far. It's very big and we'll maintained. The dog park has been separated into a large dog area as well as a small dog area. On the big dog side there are hills, grass, fallen trees, a water "creek", and many trees for dogs to run around in. On the small dog side there are lots of grassy areas and some trees. The upside with the big dog side is there there are a lot more terrain for the dogs to run, but because of their destruction, most of the grassy areas have become diet and mud. The "creek" in the big dog area is filled with mud, and obviously a popular place for dogs to run through. The smaller dog area is much cleaner, and there are always people who would bring their more gentle larger dogs into the small dog area. I often take my 60lb golden retriever into the small dog area because she just hangs out with people anyway and it's not muddy. Another great thing about this park is that there are drinking fountains by the park where you can get fresh water for yourself or for your dog. The reviewer who said toys are not allowed is mistaken. There are no rules about toys and I've always seen people playing fetch in the park. read more
