Their portions are always generous, prices affordable and the food delicious. We went through some trials - the past owner jumped ship and did not inform the new owners of our event, but thankfully the new management was super helpful once we were able to get ahold of them and everything was smooth sailing after that! Eric came by our property to do a walk through and review all previously agreed upon details and ensure a smooth handoff. We were offered a free tasting to ensure everything was just right, and our menu and prices were honored by the new head chef! One awesome thing about this caterer is that they came by the day before to drop off all of their supplies so that minimized their unload time day-of. Brilliant! Chef Lance was super friendly and kind when exploring our setup. It's those details that keep people coming back! Day-of, everything went off without a hitch. The crew was setup in time according to our timeline, and the food was delicious! Our bartender that we hired through California Connection, Christine, was amazing. She introduced herself to me ahead of time and was just so friendly and chill all night - great qualities in a bartender! The catering team left behind all of the uneaten food which was awesome since we'd paid for it - and what we didn't eat we donated to a local homeless camp. I look forward to doing business with this team in the future!

Rewind two years ago to when my husband and I were planning our wedding…read more We'd received quotes for $50 per person for food, let alone beverage, and that just wasn't going to fly with our budget. We kept looking and landed on California Connection. Gourmet Deli doesn't even begin to explain how incredible California Connection is at their job.We were on a tight budget and needed to feed a lot of people. They pulled it off with the utmost attention to detail, service, and quality. They served our guests buffet-style, where we opted for their horseradish crusted salmon and citrus rosemary chicken. Basic wedding food, but it was delicious and the price was right. On a side note, California Connection even allowed us to get a temporary beer and wine permit and bring in our own alcohol. Their servers were licensed to serve and worked the bar. This alone saved us a ton of money -- plus we were able to serve local beer and wine. If you're looking for a very affordable caterer, call California Connection and ask for Dan. They rock.

I got the rib tips and a side of slaw that ran me a ten spot. The rib tips were a decent portion. I'm guessing nearly but not quite a half pound. They were not real tender but had a great flavor. Just the right smoke in the meat. The slaw portion was a little on the small side, like maybe an eighth cup. They also offer pulled pork, bbq nachos, potato salad, and chips. The rib tips and turkey leg are when they have them. It's a good selection for a lunch. Would be nice to see some more options on the menu such as some sweet choice like cobbler or something.

It's a great day because it gets a lot of employees out of the office who ordinarily hunker down during the work day. J&J A Taste of Home Catering offers both catering and a food truck. I, of course, experienced the food truck. The focus was on egg rolls with two major options available - Good Times (with Philly Cheesesteak, includes peppers and onions) and another that I honestly can't remember. I went with the Good Times. They actually have several different egg rolls on their menu, however, they stuck with two for this Statehouse market. All their egg rolls are named after classic television shows. I didn't know this at the time, however, actually picked Good Times because of the show. Others include Happy Days, Knight Rider, Laverne & Shirley, Soul Train, Odd Couple and others. These are hand-rolled egg rolls. There's also a handful of side options and drink options. The employees here are friendly. As I recall, I got two 4" egg rolls for either $10 or $11. It seemed like a good deal to me. J&J also does catering and special events. The egg rolls were quite good - I was a bit outside my comfort zone, however, I enjoyed them and would likely order them again. For those who know Philly Cheesesteak, you'll know what to expect from the look - it threw me off at first, however, once I re-read the menu I was like "Oh yeah, that makes sense." This is a different kind of food truck and they seem to do quite a few local events. I'd look for them at an event!
