This is by far the best black goat soup I've had in LA. The broth is rich and deeply flavorful without any of the strong gaminess that can sometimes come with goat dishes. Even if you're usually sensitive to the smell, you can enjoy it comfortably here. The meat was incredibly tender and fresh, and every bite felt satisfying. The seasoning was perfectly balanced -- not overly salty or heavy -- so I was able to enjoy the entire bowl without feeling overwhelmed. It truly felt nourishing and comforting. The interior is also very clean and well-maintained, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. It's a great spot for family gatherings or even a nice, cozy meal. Overall, everything from the food quality to the ambiance was excellent. I will definitely be coming back.

A hidden gem in Los Angeles ! My GM in taekwondo takes me to authentic and traditional restaurants and this tops them all ...the goat meat is soft not gamey and soup is so delicious !Portions are enough and ambience is conducive to enjoying your meal. Although the menu is in Korean they speak goods english to interpret What they offer. Service is fast and the owner's son is in the mix to serve you! A must to visit in LA!

The menu - everything looked so good but I decided to start with the goat stew

Loved the goat stew!! It was delicious, there was lots of tender goat meat, green onions and veggies - yum!!! The service was great and the owner was very friendly and kind. Will definitely be coming back to get the goat hotpot next time!

When you enter a Korean restaurant and 70% of the customers are old Korean ladies, you know you found a gem. Gatekeeping comes to mind, but this family run establishment should get their flowers. They've been around since 2002. They've been doing goat since Kobe the GOAT and Shaq were doing three-peats. Thanks to David, #bestoflafood for posting his video review. The three course meal is the way to go. We called ahead of time to make reservations. Owner aka, "Superstar" thanked us and recommended making a reservation in case they run out. They only cook two whole goats each day. One ready at 12 pm and another at 6 pm. For the three course meal, you can choose from the goat ribs ($80), front leg ($100) or the hind leg ($120). Then you add the hot pot and fried rice ($40). The three course meal with the goat ribs were perfect for 3 people. Flavors were simple yet complex. It's not as gamey as one would think. The salt and pepper dry dip and the fermented paste with hot mustard added some flavor bombs. The hot pot broth tasted clean and resets your palette. It made you dive in for more ribs and banchan. Back and forth, It was a roller coaster of flavors. The banchan was perfect. They provided two types of kimchi. One was an oyster base and another fermented for 30 days. The 30 days had this pungent pop of flavor. The other two were spicy cucumber and bean sprouts. Just the right amount of banchan to let the goat be the GOAT. Just when you thought the ride was over, you get one last hoorah. "Superstar" takes what's left of the hot pot and makes a crispy kimchi fried rice. At first bite you get this deep savory mouthful and it makes you go for more kimchi. The fermented one elevated the rice even higher. Make sure you scrape the pot and get every bit of crispy rice goodness. What a way to end this GOAT experience.

This was the best meal I've had in months. The quality of the meat was excellent, the flavor of the stew was on point and the service and love from the staff put everything over the top. It is rare for a restaurant to exceed my expectations in every category but this place did it all. I'll be back and can't wait to share this place with more of my friends.

Goat stew for 2

My wife and I love goat. We also love Korean food. So, thanks to the Yelp algorithm, Goat Restaurant targeted me. And I'm happy that it did. Goat is in the place's name, so we had to get the goat stew for 2, which was the right call. The stew was fresh, spiceful, savory, bold, and hearty. And it was plentiful! We were treated to heaping amounts of goat and veggies in the stew, as well as unlimited sides. The banchan sides had prominent and notable fermentation but in a very welcoming, healthy, and delicious way. Our guts felt great after our meal. Special shoutout to our guy, Jin. I believe he's the owner--exceptional service. Jin was so warm, inviting, friendly, and eager to please. He's the best. I highly recommend Goat Restaurant to anyone who loves Korean food, goat, or is looking to try something new!

I have been to this restaurant multiple times, and the owner remembers us and really appreciates repeat customers. You can tell he loves what he does and his hospitality is unmatched! I hope he never loses his energy and enthusiasm. He really is a great person and a great business owner. On top of his amazing service, the food is incredible. Small menu, but everything is executed perfectly. The goat is fresh, tender, and clean tasting. The tripe dish was so perfectly crispy. The stew is so flavorful and the broth is amazing. Everything complements each other so well. It gets busy around lunch time but service is still fast. You literally see the owner running around and managing everything. I'm so happy this is in my neighborhood. You guys must try this place out! You will be amazed!!!

My gf drove by a few weeks ago and asked if I had tried them out before. I have not and Goat stew has been on my mind since, so today was the day to swing by. They have parking in the back and they're located right on the corner. Very clean and open seating. Not a lot of seating but just enough. Service here is very very friendly and fast. The goat stew was so clean and flavorful it had made me fulfilled with happiness. Would go out of my way to come back and try all the other variations of goat along with the gop Chang dish!

Ambiance: it's a hidden gem in the area, spacious and high ceiling inside, parking in the tear Service: super friendly and attentive, refilled water and served food fast Food: very simple menu and specialized in goat soup Banchan - *** limited kinds, but the kimchi was really good Goat Stew - ***** Goat meat, Garlic, Chive, Perilla leaf, Roasted wild sesame seed, juicy meat and flavorful broth, highly recommend Spicy Beef Stew - **** Beef brisket, eggs, green onion, mushroom, and bean sprout, rich in taste, recommend Price: decent portions and reasonable prices, about $25 per person for a fulfilling meal

The best place for goat. I've been coming here for decades. And it's a special dish for me. Thank you brother.

First time trying this place, on a foggy day, all the way from Arcadia! Didn't realize it was next to that sushi place. Outside was kinda meh, but inside was super clean. The service and food were amazing--that's all we care about, right? We devoured our food so fast we needed more soju! That soup was to die for. We're totally coming back. Highly recommend it if you like great food and service!

SPICY BEEF STEW
Kaitlyn N.

Came for dinner on a Wednesday! FLAVOR (5/5): 1. SPICY BEEF STEW: Supperrr flavorful and yummy. It comes with glass noodles and a side of rice. The portion size is just right. I typically eat for half a person, but the food was too good I ended up mostly finishing it... haha. You also get banchan (all of which are good). I prefer this over Sun Nong Dan's spicy beef stew. 2. BRAISED PORK RIBS: I wish I wasn't so full after the spicy beef stew because the ribs were so good! They were tender and the potatoes and carrots soaked up all the flavor... perfect balance of sweet and savory. A must-get! SERVICE (5/5): The service was amazing! Super friendly and attentive. Quinlan is the goat AMBIENCE (4/5): Good for dinner/lunch. Cute interior! When we went, there were a decent amount of people there as well. PARKING (4.5/5): There's a small private lot - we got lucky and found one spot available. TAKEAWAYS: I really liked Goat and would definitely come back. I heard the Tripe Hot Pot was good... will have to try it next time.

There is sometimes street parking but the availability is rough, it's tough to park, and even one of the meters we ended up at just didn't work. They only charge a $5 cash service charge though, which isn't bad. We were lucky to be seated right away, even in a packed restaurant. The restaurant has a surprisingly modern design, and is comfortable for as small as it is. We were quickly served their signature kimchis and barley rice. The kimchi, particularly the yeolmu (young summer radish) kimchi, has a unique flavor profile well suited to their food. We ordered 2 bowls of their plain kalgooksu, 1 bibim milmyun, and 1 tteokbokki. The food came out fairly quickly. The kalgooksu was as expected the star of the show. The anchovy broth brings a savory complexity that seems impossible for a soup made from just dried fish and a few other ingredients. It even has a rich, almost thick, quality to it that is surprising for a fish broth. Their noodles, the titular kalgooksu, have the signature irregularity and chew of knife cut noodles. I appreciate the vegetables that always come in kalgooksu, like potato, pumpkin, and zucchini, which offer an earthy heartiness to the light soup. My only complaint is that the potato is in huge irregular chunks, and is barely cooked, though I feel like I have had this issue with many of the kalgooksu bowls I've had over the years. The bibim milmyun was solid. I think that I prefer the texture and flavor of naengmyeon buckwheat noodles, but the milmyun, which are made with mostly wheat flour, still provide a satisfying chew. The sauce tasted bright and fresh, especially with a splash of added vinegar. It also came with a small side portion of spicy pork and some rice paper to wrap. The tteokbokki was the one let down of the meal. To be fair, I wasn't expecting much out of tteokbokki at all restaurant like this whose specialty is essentially the opposite. I ordered the tteokbokki as a "safe pick" for a picky eater in the group. It turned out to be a bit mediocre in our opinion, and that friend ended up enjoying their kalgooksu anyways. If you're looking to try this dish, it's definitely one of if not the best I've had in Southern California, so I'd totally recommend it. I'll also warn to steer clear of the Garden Grove restaurant of the same name and specialty. I think it's a disappointing mimicry of this place.

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. They can call me crazy for this one - I'll stand by it. Something is not right here. I'm not even going to throw it away. I'm going to study it for the next few days and post an updated review. I hope I'm wrong but as of right now, I'll never revisit this place. Too freaky of an experience. We

I've eaten an alarming amount of chips in my life and I will say these are solid but nothing noteworthy. The chips had no warmth to them and were slathered with decently flavorful honey butter that pooled to the bottom. 4.2/5 Mushroom bimibap - A very balanced dish with cohesive elements. Wish there were more mushrooms as they of course were the best part. The chili sauce was solid but the dish benefitted when we added another half portion of it and mixed it in. 4.4/5 Waygu - A decent flavor (definitely needed the flakey salt), portion and a nice medium rare cook, wall to wall. The steak was not as tender as I hoped it would be and some extra chewing was required. The banchan was all solid. It reminded me of Cote's but actually edible. 4.5/5 Yuzu popsicle - Definitely the best popsicle I've ever had. Refreshing and light. Balanced sweet to sour flavor. 4.7/5 Service A decent job. Good hostess. The steak took longer than expected to come out? Perhaps the kitchen messed it up and had to start over. Either that or maybe the waiters were busy. Or maybe it just takes a while to make it. Not sure. The waitress did the job competently but nothing above that. Overall, definitely not Michelin level service. 4.4/5 Ambiance A little too loud and it affected the entire vibe because I had to raise my voice to speak with the waitress. It became easier to just use nods and thumbs up. Like Cobis, a very modern and upscale restaurant that is hampered by lighting that is too dark. Pictures turned out good because I used another phone's flash. Just a little more light would be so much of an improvement without losing the romantic intent. Bathroom was average. 4.5/5 Overall, I had a solid meal that left my mood elevated. The service or food weren't as good as Cobis, Barsha, Ammatoli, or even Sonoratown - all top LA restaurants, but still worthy of a experience and I may return. 4.5/5 I would highly recommend Chois in San Diego as an extremely similar modern Korean fusion restaurant that also had better food, service, and ambiance. That place was 5/5 in every way.

From the moment the Korean-style spare ribs arrived at the table, it was clear this was a dish worth savoring. Each rib bore a beautifully charred exterior--deeply caramelized without a hint of bitterness--offering that irresistible smoky aroma the moment it was placed before us. The glaze was nothing short of spectacular. A perfect balance of sweet and spicy, it clung to the meat with a glossy sheen that promised flavor in every bite. There was just enough heat to make your taste buds sit up and pay attention, but it never overwhelmed the deeper, richer notes of the sweet components. But what truly set these ribs apart was the texture. Beneath the charred surface lay meat so tender it practically fell off the bone with the gentlest tug of a fork. Each bite was juicy and succulent, the result of careful cooking and a respect for quality ingredients. Ham Ji Park, you will be missed. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the food.

The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
