This is my second time with PLN - about two years ago I gave it a shot and wasn't really sold on the idea - I felt as though I could make meals - and so I did. Fast forward a bit, now I have a 10 month old that I prepare meals for, my picky husband who thankfully doesn't mind eating the same thing over and over again, and I am left with no time to prepare healthy meals for my self nor do I like to eat the same thing each day. I have no choice but to use PLN to get me eating right and losing some of this baby weight. It gives me time to spend with my family as well as going to the gym. The meals vary by week and each box has a good amount of variety. Like anything else, there will be some that you like more than others. The great thing is not only can they be heated in the microwave but also stove top or oven. I prefer avoiding microwaves when I can as I feel it ruins the taste and texture. All in all, I like what I have had so far. I've opted for the full box of 18 meals sans breakfast and snacks and I make shakes and buy large quantities of almond packs from BJs. I have also tried their smoothies and they are very tasty. The one piece of feedback that I do have is the ability to see the menu in advance or better yet, have options to choose from similar to food delivery services such as Plated, Blue Apron and HelloFresh. read more

The concept is amazing; the execution, not so much. There's a reason they make you buy in one-month increments, or subscribe. If they didn't take all your money in advance, you'd never give them more! I'd been thinking about giving Project Lean Nation a try for a couple months now, but didn't like that the ONLY option was a subscription plan. I like to try things out before I make that commitment. I like clean eating, but a large portion of Sunday was being spent on food prep, and I can think of many things I'd rather be doing. So I was pretty stoked when I checked into PLN again and saw that they now offered a one-month trial package. In all fairness, yes, it says that they do not offer refunds. I understand now why, because they must have people asking for them all the time, and they'd never make a dime. During our first week, approximately 20% of the food was decent. Yes, I understand that it is Clean Eating. But they somehow managed to make 20% of it palatable. Why not the other 80%? It was bad enough that when we went for our second week's pickup, I inquired about a partial refund. You know, for the food two weeks down the line that HASN'T EVEN BEEN PREPARED YET. I was told that I could gift the rest of the food to someone else, but I really can't think of someone I dislike enough. read more

Came in here for a smoothie because they had a cute chalkboard sign outside advertising them... Now not only was it the most expensive smoothie I've ever bought (I think it was $8.50?!ish) it was the most horrible smoothie I've ever had and it was ONLY strawberry (the simplest of flavors).... Now I know it's a clean eating type of place but wow it was almost undrinkable and for the price- I was left basically speechless-WOW! The smoothie literally tasted like CHALK. I think they may have used the chalk from that chalkboard to create the base- YUCK. Not sure how you mess up a strawberry smoothie but they managed to do so! Also this store was brand new and I would have been interested in the concept but the employee didn't tell me about it or explain it or anything like that. She didn't even tell me or ask me what I wanted in the smoothie so I'm assuming it had whey or some type of chalky like protein (which would have been nice to know). So I'm assuming the girl who made my drink is definitely NOT the owner but a 'shy' employee because she was not rude or anything just very quiet.... Unfortunately- I'm going to have to rate 2 stars- due to the lack of customer service and the taste of the smoothie. It would have been nice to know how this place works in terms of meal planning and what not. It also would have been nice for her to explain that it was a new place and what they offer, but I barely got a hello and a goodbye. I've been on this meal plan for almost a year, absolutely love it, and plan to stay on it for the foreseeable future. (Just noticed it on Yelp today) First, The staff is great, super helpful, and go out of their way to accommodate your special needs. The meals are great, can be a little bland at times, but that's kind of the point, low sugar, low sodium, just good wholesome food with minimal ingredients.. don't get me wrong, the meals are flavorful, just not overly so, like your not going to get a pasta dish swimming in a cup of sauce, the way I would really like it to be, but then that's not very heathy is it, it's properly portioned, and properly seasoned, for a overall good meal. Just took a little getting used to the lack of thick sauce, sodium, sugar, and other bad carbs I was accustum too. The menu is always rotating, new dishes pop up often, I never get board with the menu. Very quickly noticed a boost in engery after starting this plan, eating 5 meals a day is really the way to go. I also lost some weight, could do better if I exercised more (that's on me), had my annual physical last month, and the results of eating this way showed up big time, my doctor was pleased. Can't say enough about the convenience of this plan, as a single male, and Im very busy with work, the children are all grown, and hardly ever home anymore, I would never have the time or ambission to create such a varried menu on my own, especially just for 1. Meals are actual pretty good at cool tempatures, so when I'm on the go, and not near a kitchen or microwave, I toss a few thawed meals into a small cooler, and eat on the run, so much better, cheaper, and healthier than eating out. When at home or in the office, I'm only a few minutes away from a hot, fresh, locally prepared, healthy meal. Defiantly worth a try, and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and explore options, like I said, the staff is awesome, and have never had a problem customizing my plan. read more

I really wanted to like this place but the chicken really did it for me. I love their chocolate muffins, the smoothie I tried was delicious (coffee), & the mac & cheese was ok. Ugh, but the chicken, the smell was gross & so bland. The texture was not my cup of tea. Idk, maybe its the latina in me where I like some seasoning to my chicken other than buffalo sauce (eye roll). I'm the least disciplined dieter and even I am sticking to this plan. It holds you accountable, but leaves room for life to happen. I get 12 meals a week purchased for the month in advance. I choose to cook or prep my breakfast because its the fastest meal to prepare and just buy fruit and snacks. My grocery bill has barely changed, and as a recent college being economical is very important to me. The meals are kind of bland, but a little salt and pepper resolves this. I never stuck with meal prep on my own because I hate eating the same thing every day, but having variety makes me actually want to eat the meals. My biggest compliant is that after two weeks my favorite belt doesn't fit me. I have been trying to lose weight for months, and Project Lean Nation was the first progress I've made. I have a busy job and hate cooking, so I have very little time to meal prep. The half box does the trick for me, I am not a fan of the snacks or breakfast in the full box. I substituted a GNC shake for the shake they provide and just buy my own 100 calorie pack of almonds for a snack. Or I will substitute two boiled eggs whites for breakfast. The rest of the food is very tasty and keeps me full all day long. I typically do breakfast (eggs whites or a shake), two meals, and two snacks a day. Combined with 30 minutes of exercise, 4 times a week, I am seeing a huge difference in the way I feel and look. Highly recommend! read more
