Fast review: great customer service tailored to the individual customer with prices consistent with other retailers. In depth review: This is not a typical shoe store - it's very much a customer experience store. Having never been to a specialty running shoe store, I expected to walk in and see rows of shelves with model shoes on top and boxes of those shoes in different sizes below. This is not that place. When I walked in, I was greeted by an employee who asked what I was looking for in a shoe and then invited me to step onto a machine that imaged my foot pressure (no additional cost). He then reviewed the image with me l, talked about specific foot issues I've experienced, explained my personal foot needs based on the image, and had me sit down while he went back and started grabbing shoes that would meet my needs. If anything, he probably had me try on more shoes than I needed. But he was thorough. He talked me through sizes, widths, and supports, pointing out different features of each shoe. Truthfully, he'd found my perfect shoe in the first 3 or so he brought out, but he kept going back looking for more options. The time involved from arriving until buying was still less than 20 minutes, so the attention to detail was great but not wasteful. Running shoes are expensive - not just here but anywhere. I'd expected a bit of mark up for the customer attention time, but that wasn't the case. I got great shoes for the price I saw them for online (yes, I did look at prices as he went back looking for more options). There was no pressure to buy a certain pair, and I didn't sense any attempt to oversell or get me into a more expensive pair. It would have been nice to have seen prices on the shoe boxes, though. We never talked about price points or how much any pair cost until I made my decision and paid. And perhaps that's for the best in terms of finding the best shoe for my feet. Would I go here again? I called to check on selection of Brooks shows and spoke with the salesperson, Ron. He was EXTREMELY knowledge of the selection they had and said they had a good variety to choose from. I went by and was blown away at the cleanliness of the store and how organized it was. I meet Ron and he asked me to get on he machine to determine my pressure points. He took the time to explain the results and showed me the shoes. He showed me the display of show. He said he would pick out some that should fit my feet. He was gone for a bit then brought back several shoes. I tried them all on and did the walk. I ended up picking the Hoka and I LOVE them!!! I was so expressed with the store, Ron, and the shoes!!!! I am fairly new to Rome, but when I needed some new running shoes, I had to stop in and check them out. Their service is top notch. I was assisted by Skye who really took her time to understand my needs. During this particular visit I was suffering from a plantar fasciaitis (sp?) and Skye proceeded in analyzing my run. She had me try on several pairs of shoes and filmed me while I ran the treadmill. She then compared all the runs (side by side) on her ipad. It was quite amazing to see the difference in my running. It was also very impressive to see how they used technology to help me make a better decision about my purchase. The attention to service was so great that I had to return the favor and buy the shoes. Note, the PF, was also resolved shortly after changing into my new shoes. I'm guess that we are talking about the same place here...Go Go at the Shoe Box, but they are located on Martha Berry and not E 2nd Ave. Anyway, the place is fantastic. The shoes are fairly high end but well worth the price and services provided. I had been doing daily walks between 3-4 miles in some very light weight running shoes that were super comfortable but were getting worn out in the foresoles and heels. I went in to GoGo and we had a short Q&A about my walking routine, what I had been walking in, what kind of foot/leg problems I might have and Jay went to work bringing out several shoes that might fit my needs. He was extremely knowledgeable not only about the mechanics of the shoes but the variations in fit. I normally wear an 11 1/2 but when he brought out the different manufacturers shoes some were in 11 1/2 and some were size 12 and each fit perfectly. The ones he recommended were the Hoka One One Clifton 3. They looked bulky but were actually very light and supportive. They are really great for the types of exercising I do walking up and down pretty steep hills. Back to the service provided, a few months after buying the shoes they developed a hole in the inner liner of the toe box. I spoke directly with Hoka and explained the problem and was told that the shoes came with a one year guarantee against material failure not related to normal wear and tear or outright abuse. They said all I had to do was ship them back and I would be given either a credit or exchange. The problem was that unless I had mail ordered them from directly from the company then I would have to pay return shipping. I stopped back by the store and spoke with Jay again and explained that my conversation with Hoka and he told me not to worry about any of that and that GoGo would take care of everything at no cost. He took all of my information, recommended a replacement shoe that was a step up from the Clifton 3 line and researched whether they were available in my size. Turns out he recommended the Hoka One One Bondi 4 and they were being discontinued and replaced by the Bondi 5. He sent me the web link with the available colors and after I told him what I wanted, he put them on order. Additionally I had made the mistake of walking in other shoes to save the wear and tear on the Hokas and had developed plantar fasciitis that had become very painful and was limiting my ability to get the exercise I need. I had researched some inserts that were supposed to ease or eliminate the problem and spoke with Jay about them. He put me on a machine to measure and map the pressure across the bottoms of both feet to determine which inserts would be best for me. I settled on a pair that provided good arch support and comfortable cushioning on my heels and Jay trimmed them for a perfect fit in my shoes. By the end of that day most of the pain had vanished from my foot after suffering for several months. Great relief. I can not say enough about how well they listen to you and really work extremely hard to make sure you get what you need for whatever activity you are involved in. The prices aren't cheap but they are competitive and you do get what you pay for. Great service and customer care. read more

Well, this place definitely lives up to the reviews I have read. All the associates are runners. And Colin, who was amazing with helping this old pudgy man here find the right shoes was both extremely knowledgeable and totally encouraging to someone trying to get back into running. Didn't pressure me to buy anything, only addressed my issues with my feet and offered solutions. I will be going back for my next pair of shoes and recommend this store to anyone! read more
