It takes time to write a review but I would like to share my honest opinion with other parents about this place. We started with Gofort when it was in the older location. We moved with them to this new current location. This location is too small for such a business, I do understand that the new owner wants to get a good location on the main street but this location is too small for any kid's activity business. Over crowded and they keep accepting new joiners, parents barely have a place to stand or sit to watch. The platform is so crowded with kids. It is pretty obvious that this place is money driven. I hear parents complain all the time. No team activities for kids to engage together and build a team perspective. No talking or joking or chatting with the kids. No feedback and no interaction with the parents. I took my son there 16 times for the period of about 5-6 months and I was never approached by any of the staff or the manager for his or my feedback about my son. It seems like even if you stay there forever you walk in and out like a stranger. The day I decided I have to stop and discontinue is when they made my son cry in-front of all the other kids. I stayed on my chair watching what the instructor will do, he kept yelling at my son. I couldn't believe the way the instructor was behaving! I waited to see if this is part of the training or things will get better. My son kept crying and he was looking at me asking for help! He was scarred!! The instructor on the other hand seemed to take things personal with a 5 years old kid and he grabbed him from the shoulder and twisted him like he was a toy! I stood from my seat with shock, other parents were shocked too!! I wanted to do a big deal, any parent would understand and do that but because many other kids were present I preferred to deal with this at a later time.
I have been in martial arts all of my life, in fact my father in law is a martial arts trainer in the army, and he is keeping a close eye on my kids. We both have never seen something unethical like such. Unprofessional, unorganized, crowded place.
"Go and check for yourself, you don't have to go inside just, park outside and see how parents are dragging their kids to go in. Kids look sad going in.
Now you might ask, ok, but why you kept taking your son there? I kept taking my son there for 16 times because it was a hit or miss, few times the young instructors were nice but honestly that was 3 times out of 16. They kept promising things will get better " it is a new place and we are improving". I want my son to train and this is what will happen but definitely not at this place.
New York and queens is full of such businesses, watch your son closely and see if he likes the place don't make him tike it just because you want him to train. I should have listened to my son earlier, kids understand this bossy language and behavior from day one. read more
